A slow dripping sound echoes through the dark landscape. The large luminous and silvery ringed planet resting in the sky, an ominous sight for both those of mortal and immortal origins.
A lone figure rests on their haunches gazing up at the skyline, their ears resting to the sides and tail swaying softly through the shallow black liquid that covers the entire floor. The sound of soft splashing makes them twitch and tip their head down, flicking an ear to the side.
“You're early.” The feline says, their voice a soft monotone as another cat sits down next to them, their eyes covered with a white cloth, the silver garments along their legs and spine glittering softly in the little light given off by the ringed giant.
“I am right on time, old friend.” Mortifer hums, their ears flicking slightly in amusement as Bael turns towards them and snarls softly, their blank eyes narrowed down into a glare as Mortifer huffs a small amused laugh.
Bael glares the slightly smaller cat down for a moment before flicking their tail out through the water and standing, their fur stained with the dark liquid they rest in and let out a sigh. They turn towards Mortifer and pitch their ears back, “What do you want?”
Mortifer blinks behind the blinders and flicks their ears forward, “What does anyone want from the God Killer?” They chirp standing and flicking their tail up and trotting around Bael with a grin, “What could death possibly want from the Leviathan? I wonder.”
“Get on with it.” Bael snapped, taking a threatening step forwards. Mortifer tipped their head with a toothy smile.
The Horseman just watched them for a moment before letting out a soft humm and spun on their front paws the oily dark waters splashing up in Bael’s face as they rear back with a hiss of annoyance.
Bouncing away from the now angered Leviathan, Mortifer grins at them and starts speaking, “The other Horsemen are getting restless, they can tell The Host and The Rings are getting antsy. Someones going to misstep soon and it’s all going to fall apart for the realms.” Death itself chirps.
Bael pauses, taking this in before lifting their head and tipping it slightly, “And what does this have to do with me, If you don't remember this happens to be my prison.” The last word is spat out like a particularly nasty tasting songbird.
The Horseman’s smile doesn't falter, “I would never give the God Killer an idea to flit around outside their cage, a mighty gilded cage isn't it?” They purr looking around with their ears flicking slightly before turning their head back to Bael, “but, no one would have to know it was an outside force who gave the Leviathan a way out, you have been here for millenia haven’t you? It’s not that outside the realms for one like you to out smart the all mighty.”
Bael flicks their tail, considering for a moment then two. “Alright then, let’s see how your plan works, Horseman.” They say at last, Mortifer chirps a small pleased sound and spins to leave, the large form of a pale horse rising from a slow building cloud of smoke surrounding them.
“You’ll know when the time comes God Killer.” Mortifer says as they climb onto the large armored steed with grace, Bael just flicks an ear and turns away to resume their staring contest with the sky above.
A soft plink, plink, plink echoes through the darkness, the Leviathan smiles as they stare out at the sky.
Soon.
