A semi-custom collie based on a character!

Have you always wanted a collie based on a character you love? Well here's a chance for everyone! This collie can be any coat type, will have edits/possible items, and can have any genes except blixt. And the best part? I'll design the whole thing! You'll have the opportunity to suggest a couple markings you'd like/think fit, and I'll work my magic on the rest. It can be a human, animal, or anything in between.

To win? Tell me about the collie! Character collies are not just the character if they were transformed into a collie, but your own unique oc inspired by a character. They might have the same personality, but their story will sure be different, so I want you to tell me at least one key event in their life, but in collie version. This will be an important event to the official character's personality or history, but with your own take/twist. You can include descriptions of your collie if needed but they will not affect the final collie.

For example, Hawks from MHA used his wings to save a family and was then taken in to be trained as a hero. My collie Hawks collected feathers for comfort, and used these to lead rescue services to save a family, and was then taken to be trained as a search and rescue collie (this is a very short version). If you're still unsure what is required, send me a DM and I can explain more!

Be sure to keep your story CS appropriate! If the character's story has a lot of death/violence, be sure to tell it in a way that is acceptable to the rules.

Winner will be chosen based on development, not the character you choose. I'm very happy to research/make a collie character inspired by one I don't know, so don't worry about that! Length of your story doesn't matter, it's about the content itself.

Character inspiration: Takashi Natsume from Natsume's Book of Friends (also called natsume yuujinchou)

Preferred coat type: Rough coat? As I was writing that was what kept coming to mind.

Key Event(s) Story: Natsume has been adrift for most of his life, never having a place to truly call "home" before. Since he was a young puppy, he has lived with countless families, but never for very long. This uncertainty has caused Natsume to be quiet and shy, not wanting to make connections that will just be broken the next time a family decides to rehome him. Excuses such as the family moving, lives being "too busy" despite no lifestyle change, or even not feeling a connection with Natsume after only a week have been reasons used in the past to shunt him off to a new family.

But Natsume's quiet and shy nature has given him a gift - he can see things others cannot. He notices the quick looks between two young adults feeling the first stirrings of affection. He sees the wallflower just waiting to blossom into a confident person. He sees the child holding back tears as others leave them behind to play. And Natsume, quiet and shy as he is, always does his best to help.

Natsume will inconspicuously herd the two young adults closer, allowing them to start conversing and nuture that first spark of affection. He will sit with the wallflower, wagging his tail and supporting them, just letting their confidence in theirself build a stronger foundation. And the lonely child resonates deeply with Natsume, reminding him of himself as a puppy wondering what'd he'd done wrong when his first family left him behind. So he will go to the child and do his best to comfort them, licking their cheeks and bringing them toys to play with.
Natsume's actions often go unnoticed, but his presence has improved so many lives.

And now Natsume finds himself in a new place with an older couple. The couple are quieter people who lead calm lives and have been kind to Natsume - giving him his space while creating a welcoming place. The couple even kept the ugly little kitten he noticed all alone. They also take him to the dog park, and a group of regulars have taken him under their wing. The dogs' excitement at seeing Natsume each day is a little shocking as Natsume doesn't understand why. He's quiet and strange and different and... but these other dogs are happy to teach him their games or even just sit with him if Natsume is overwhelmed. Could this place with the kind couple, the kitten, and these other dogs... could this be Natsume's home?

Character inspiration: Connor from Dear Evan Hansen! He doesn't vary much from version to version, but book Connor is canonically bi, so he's my favorite!

Preferred coat type: Rough is what I imagine him as.

Key Event(s) Story: Connor snapped up from his slumber and shook his fur out. The house smelled strongly of whatever candle the people had burning today, trying to mask a scent that was burned into his sensitive nose. He knew if he didn’t get up and out soon, it’d start seeping into his fur, and a candle couldn’t fix that. Whatever dream had just woken him up had already been forgotten, whatever monster was there could wait until he went back to sleep. His shaggy fur seemed to drag him down as he slowly walked outside. The sun on his face, his sister drinking water from the hose. Maybe today wouldn’t be so bad.

Clouds brewed on the horizon. He looked somber as they started drawing closer, threatening to ruin his good mood. His sister had come to sit with him, the collie’s tail tapping his back as it wagged while they watched the sunrise. She was younger than him, and he almost loomed over her; her fur rustling in the wind that was now picking up speed. He looked at her for a moment, as if he was going to ask her a question. She looked up at him, and he quickly looked back to the horizon. He could feel her watching him this time, but he didn’t look back. They often spent mornings like this. He heard thunder rumble further out, and his sister went in. The stench of the house was better than being caught in the rain. He stayed out for a bit longer, until it started to drizzle. He debated going back inside, but he figured the rain couldn’t hurt him. He started walking towards the tree line, his paws barely attached to his mind.

He almost tripped into a stream. The open field suddenly came into view, his clouded mind clearing. The sky was still gray and the rain droned on, but Connor didn’t mind getting wet. His fur started soaking in the rain as he walked out from his cover. He laid down on the edge of the tree line, soothed by the sound of the rain. He started wondering why he didn’t do this more often as he started dozing off. The lull of the rain, the rustle of the wind, and the quietness of the field were much better compared to his own home.

He once again startled awake as he heard a yelp. Somewhere across the field, something had yelped. He paused, wondering if it was just a coyote. But the canine across the field didn’t look like a coyote, wolf, or other canine. He looked like another collie. Begrudgingly, Connor got up and creeped across the field, trying to get a better view before they saw him. Other than the yelp, the collie had been quiet, just lying there. He wondered if the other was even alive, they were so still. Eventually, when Connor was a few paces away, the other collie rolled over to face him. Their face was mostly blank, with a twinge of sadness, and Connor almost felt pity for the other. He sniffed the other collie as they breathed heavily, likely from pain. Silently, Connor nudged them to a stand. The other tried to run off, but his leg didn’t allow for movement, especially that quickly. They collapsed again with another yelp. Their broken leg was more apparent now. Connor realized this was more serious than he’d initially realized, and watched as the collie panted heavily again. He weighed his options, before running off.

That afternoon, Connor was back, this time with his sister. Luckily for him, the collie had hardly moved. He’d been asleep when Connor arrived, and the collie hoped this stranger felt a little less pain at the moment. Connor sat next to him, his sister sniffing the collie as he slowly awoke. At first, he panicked, but calmed down as he realized no one was here to hurt him. She helped him stand up, and Connor braced his other side. Together, they brought him the short way back to their home, and let him rest on the porch. Other than a few grunts, the collies had yet to talk to the stranger that was now leaning on him. As his sister went inside to find their owners, the smell of the candle filling his nose again, Connor finally looked at the new collie. “I’m Connor,” he said. He smiled faintly as the collie looked up, ears going back in embarrassment.

“Evan,” the stranger said.

Key Event(s) Story: His first home wasn't the best. They got him because he was cute and didn't understand his need to play and be outside. He wasn't even asking for agility, just a family who would brush his coat and take him on walks, maybe learn a few tricks.

They got tired of his shedding and chewing on shoes and furniture (he was bored and they had hardly any toys for him!) so they took him to a shelter instead of back to the breeder they got him from.

The shelter people were nice enough, and he did get walks and outdoor time, but he was sad.

Honestly he wasn't sure how long he was there until one day a human with no hair and a blue mark on his head squatted down in front of his kennel.

"Hey bud. I'm lookin' for a hiking buddy who'd like going to my college classes with me sometime. That sound like you?"

He started bouncing around and the human smiled, taking him out of his kennel and into a small room. The two hung out for a while before one of the shleter humans came in to talk with the blue marked one.

Finally the boy looked back at him. "Hear that? You're coming home with me now!" He squatted down in front of him. "You need a name though. How about Appa?"

Appa yipped excitedly and the boy laughed. He found the home he was supposed to be in and he and his new human were gonna be together through thick and thin. (With walks and treats galore, too!)

Key Event(s) Story:
Context: a wolf has infiltrated the farm, kidnapping the leader of their pack and his mate and causing chaos and confusion for many moons. The wolf was captured but aided in escape by Shadowsight with the promise to telling him where his leader was being kept.

Shadowsight sat huddled between his parents in the barn. Tension hung heavy in the air as he opened his jaws to try and explain again.
"If we killed him we would never find Bramble! We would be without a lead and without a leader,"he pleaded, but the expressions on his parents' faces remained the same: as if they had accepted the fate of their son.
His father suggested he lie when they come to interrogate him, insist he had nothing to do with allowing the wolf to escape, but Shadowsight insisted on being truthful. His mother let out a sight and called out for one of their pack-mates.
"Tawny!" she called for his grandmother, who appeared shortly after.
"So it has come to this," she said solemnly.
"I knew you would refuse to lie," his father spoke, "but it was worth the try anyways."
His father stood up and padded towards the barn entrance.
"Tawny will take you away from camp. You will escape before they come for you."
"Remember that nice farm down the way we visited when you were a pup? I'm sure they'd be happy to welcome you into the own family," Tawny spoke softly, gesturing for Shadowsight to come towards her. He shot a pleading look towards his parents.
"What difference is there in leaving or being exiled?" he asked, but his father shook his head.
"Better to flee than be killed," his father replied before slipping from the barn to survey the fields, making sure no one saw them leave.
Shadowsight hung his head and padded towards Tawny, ready to accept his fate, when Lion slammed the barn door open.
"Oh i see what this is," Lion growled, "Tying to escape, to meet up with that wolf you aided in escape, before the pack can get to the bottom of all this."
His father slammed into the accuser's side.
"Who are you to come into our barn-"
"I'm a dog whos trying to put right the chaos that your son caused!" Lion snarled loudly, as his words it seemed every dog on farm was giving the commotion their full attention. An eruption of growls and barks could be heard as dogs argued over what should be done.
"You have once again chosen your own kin over the good of the whole pack!" Lion snarled at his father. Tawny and his parents huddled around him, ready to fight to keep him safe.
"Stop!" Shadowsight cried, quieting the angry dogs.
"I don't need and blood shed on my account, I will go willingly."
He looked towards the broken crake the wolf had been held in and padded towards it. He stopped at the entrance, hesitant. The scent was stale but still strong. A sour reminder of how he'd been deceived and manipulated. He crept inside the crate as Lion and two other dogs surrounded the crate's entrance. He wondered if any dog would listen to him now.

After this scene Lion proceeds to blame Shadowsight for the disappearance of Squirrel and Bramble, and for the entire situation they had endured.
