Chapter One
WARNING: err....this one's kind of...bloody
Twilight wriggled in her sleep, a nightmare drawing into her mind. "Nooo...." she yowled, tossing and turning as her family's death swarmed in front of her. The Giant Fox leaped down of the slope, tearing into her mother's neck. Blood sprayed the green grass bright red as blood gushed out of her mother's neck. She was frozen looking over the hill watching them, helplessly. Her younger sister padded up, yawning. She had just woken up. Her eyes widened as she saw blood forming a pool around their mother, soaking her brown fur red. Her sister Pine yowled and skidded down, but Twilight blocked her. "It is their time to go..." she whispered. They stared down as their father was slaughtered the same careless way, and their eyes became glazed.
They're dead.
I could of helped them...but I was too greedy for my own life! Ooh...father, mother, come back!
-
She woke up breathing heavily, everything vivid in her mind. "Just a dream..." she whispered. "Just a dream..." she repeated, and tried to sleep, but she was too uneasy, starting at every sound. Her own words echoed in her mind; "It is their time to go." She tossed her head. If only I could of helped... she looked up at the den's roof, and saw their was a hole in the roof, letting moonlight shed down. It was a huge hole...She sat up and looked closer; it looked like some animal had tore into their den. Instantly her fur bristled when she scented the strong scent of a Giant Fox. They fed on smaller foxes and...and killed as they pleased. She shook the dream away, she must be imagining scents with the dream so close to her mind. Suddenly their was a loud roar outside the den and a scream, and her ears pricked.
-
"PINE!" She yowled, seeing the biggest fox she'd ever seen snatching her out of her nest and carrying her away. "NOOO! I won't let you take her!" she snarled, fur bristling. She had been too cowardly to protect her mother and father; she wouldn't do the same to Pine. She arched her back like a Halloween cat and sprung, biting into the Giant Fox's leg, tearing at his fur. Now that he was distracted, he loosened his grip on Pine and whipped around facing Twilight. She glanced at Pine, who had been dropped to the ground with a loud thud. Giant Foxes had killed her mother and father, even her brother. They were tall on their hind legs and if you were dropped...there was only a small chance of surviving. She glanced at the Giant Fox who was on four paws, and squealed in pain as he smacked her across the clearing. She hit a tree trunk with a sickeningly thud, and the last thing she saw was her sister being carried away by that careless fox. Then she closed her eyes and entered utter darkness.
Chapter Two
Sunshine washed over the bloody clearing, lighting up the brown fox's fur. Her eyes were closed still from the previous night, but her chest was heaving...barley. Twilight was in a mixture of dreams; of her past, and of the previous night. Her sister being carried away. She flinched as the images passed by, remembering how she had abandoned her family once again. I'm so sorry...Pine, Mother, Father, Sparks. I've failed all of you. she thought, and opened her eyes. She had wounds on her body from the Giant Fox sweeping her over here, and was still dizzy and light-headed. She struggled to stand on four feet but dropped to the ground again. She looked up at the nearly clear sky that blocked by tree branches and snorted. It's like someone blocking out another's life, she thought and stopped. She had blocked her mother's and father's life from blocking Pine from getting to them...oh great Foxeh Spirits what had she done?! She shook her head to clear it and tried to get up again, only to feel a tickle on her back fur. "Hehehehe," someone giggled, bouncing to and fro on her shoulders. "Hey!" Twilight barked, whipping around in circles to see the new fox. She chased around over and over again, getting more and more dizzy she fell to the ground with a plop, the world spinning around her.
-
When everything was still, she stared at her nose, feeling something on it. "Hehehehehe," it giggled again and bounced around energetically on her head. Smiling smugly, Twilight bowed her head so the foxeh fell off. She planted her paw on it's chest to hold it still and growled; "what do you think your doing, playing pranks on older foxehs?" The Pipe Fox's eyes widened and tried to bounce away, but Twilight was stronger. "Tell me," she growled again, more strictly. The Pipe Fox's fear rolled off of it like waves, and Twilight's eyes grew softer and gentler. She released her harsh grip and sat down. The Pipe Fox jumped up, looking at her curiously. "Don't you know how to play chase-the-pipe-fox-on-your-shoulders?" the little foxeh asked. What a long name, Twilight snorted. "No, but I do know how to chase-that-fox-for-revenge!" she barked, pouncing on the smaller foxeh before it could move out of the way. "Hey! No fair! I've never heard of that game!" squealed the pipe fox. Twilight did a foxy-purr and let the pipe fox go again.
-
"What's your name?" she asked, gently, licking a paw and rubbing it over her forehead like a cat. The Pipe Fox answered, "It's Polon. Your's?" Twilight paused in her washing. "Twilight," she answered. "Do...do you want to sleep with me tonight, Polon?" she asked, flicking her ear's towards the ripped-up den. Debris was laying everywhere. "In that old thing?" Polon asked, following her gaze. Slightly offended, the bramble thicket was her home, she replied, "Yes, that 'old thing'." The little Pipe fox's gaze was disappointed, but held her tongue. "Fine, let's go." she said, hopping into it. Rolling her eyes, Twilight followed behind, stopping by the den entrance.
