Buttermilk #1128

Postby Black.Wings » Tue Apr 01, 2025 2:01 pm

Certi said I get to play with the big kids now. So I said go big or go home. But seriously I want to give a big shoutout to the community for everything. I’m so thankful for this opportunity and can’t wait to see what comes next!

This bull seems to be occupied looking into the night sky. To bring him home, tell me about what he’s looking at up there and how he feels about it. Does looking up at night make him feel small? Or maybe he’s happy imagining himself amongst the stars.

You may interpret this prompt in either writing or drawing. 250 word minimum and 500 word max for writing. Max of 2 drawings, each drawing may have maximum of 50 words to help define what it’s about.

Name: Cape
Gender: DMAB
Collar: Gold and blue
Prompt:

Cape, also known as Cap or Captain, sits beneath the night sky. There's not a soul in sight. Breathing in the fresh air, they rest on the grass, looking up at the various constellations that are visible, major and minor. Planets twinkle from ages away, stars dancing in the sky as they burn and fade away.

Birds circle overhead, their flight pattern odd and unusual for night time behavior. You can hear calls from the birds, dancing in the sky like they're well-aware of what the night holds for them above. The constellation shining brightly above is Cygnus. Though these birds are more attuned to the constellation Corvus, by the looks of them, they seem to be drawn to converge in the sky, swooping to and fro like elegant swans in water.

This is what holds Cape's attention the most: not the constellations, stars, or planets, but the birds committing to their soaring and calling, bringing more crows coming from the distant skies above. The grass feels like home to Cape, who breathes in and out gently, afraid to startle the birds who intelligently dive and sway in rhythmic harmony. This is what home feels like, witnessing nature in its finest form. The little things make Cape feel seen, and not so small compared to the big universe they live in.

Happiness vibrates through their entire being, little "moo moo moo" noises escaping their throat as the birds end their dance for the night, the sun gently rising in the distance. [251 Words]

Zeru woke up crying. He had a dream where he was back in the fields again, lying under the sun with his best friend, Skylar. She was his cat friend, who would usually fall asleep close to his belly while purring.

He missed her more than anything.
They used to do everything together. From the moment they met when they were young, they were inseparable. They’d run through the tall grass, chase butterflies until their legs gave out, and race to the barn to see who could get there first. Skylar usually won, but Zeru never minded. At night, they’d lie in the grass and count the stars. Whoever counted more would win, though Skylar probably let him win half the time just to make him smile.
One of Zeru’s favorite memories was when Skylar would sneak bread from the humans and bring it to him, which he loved to munch on so much. She always made sure he was happy, even in the smallest ways.

But then Skylar got sick. Her energy started fading, and her body grew weaker. Even then, she stayed close, never letting him feel alone. Right before she passed, she told him, “Don’t be sad, Zeru. When you feel lonely, look up at the sky. I’ll be there, watching over you.”
And now, almost every night, he does.

Sometimes, when the stars are really bright, he swears he can see her. A constellation shaped just like a little cat. He would often feel her presence.

Name: Fox
Gender: DMAB
Collar: Green/Steel like alien ship
Prompt: What is Fox looking up in the night sky?
Why aliens of course!
Because at night, there is the greatest chance to see an alien ship suddenly bolt among the motionless stars. And statistically the greatest number of alien abdutions happen at night! Which means aliens must be more active during nocturnal time periods - either their technology is best suited for camouflage during dark hours or they rely on the element of surprise suddenly appearing in the dark...
Well you can probably tell the rest of the alien theoritising, mixed in with some government conspiracy theories and a couple paleocontact secret organisation stuff. Fox's been obsessed with extraterrestrial life since he was a tiny calf, and saw another bovine mysteriously disappear in a bright ray of light, springing up in the air right where they stood and vanishing into blinding light. Everybody keep telling him it was just his imagination, and the cow was fine, just picked up by someone like a truck with very bright lights, but he knows better - he was there, he saw it all. It was no truck! Have you ever seen a truck that can lift its passenger above the tree line?! It could be nobody else but aliens, and since that very day, Fox dedicated his life to finding the proof they exist. And every night he isnt out following a clue or going through his collected evidence to find a pattern, he's out looking up the night sky and asking himself one question. "Are you there?.."

Name: Antares
Gender: DMAB
Collar: artists choice
Prompt:
On a tranquil night, the air was thick with the scent of grass and the gentle rustle of leaves. Antares lay sprawled on the soft earth of the grassy paddocks, his gaze fixed on the vast tapestry of stars above. Each twinkling light seemed to pulse with life, a reminder of both wonder and solitude. The crickets serenaded the night, their chirps breaking the stillness like tiny echoes of laughter in an otherwise quiet world.

For him, the night sky was more than just a backdrop; it was a sanctuary where he felt connected to something greater than himself. He often wished for something extraordinary to happen; a glimpse of a UFO darting across the horizon or a stray meteor streaking through the darkness. He often found solace in conversation with his ancestors, imagining their faces etched in the constellations above. Chewing his lip thoughtfully, he let questions form in his mind. “Are there others out there?” he whispered into the night air. “Are we just a small blip in others’ lives?” These questions swirled within him as he contemplated his place in this vast universe. The enormity of existence weighed heavily on him as he pondered his place in it all. Was he merely a fleeting shooting star; a brief flash against the backdrop of eternity? Or was he something more; a star living its best life amidst countless others?

In this moment of introspection, Antares felt both significant and insignificant at once. He had always believed that he held meaning in the lives of those around him; friends would confide in him during tough times, family would lean on him for support. Yet here, beneath this endless expanse, he felt dwarfed by its vastness. “It is okay to feel so small in such a huge world?” he mused aloud as if seeking validation from those distant ancestors watching over him.

As Antares continued to gaze upward, he found comfort in knowing that while individual lives may seem fleeting or insignificant against time’s relentless march, they still mattered deeply to others. Each shared moment could create ripples that extended far beyond what one could see; a smile exchanged with a stranger or a kind word offered to a friend could spark change.

He closed his eyes for a moment and let himself be enveloped by the night’s embrace; the cool breeze brushing against his skin felt like an affirmation from the universe itself: it was okay to feel small; it was okay to question one’s existence. In fact, it was part of what made life beautiful. With renewed clarity filling his heart, Antares opened his eyes once more and smiled up at the cosmos above. He understood now: every tiny flicker had its place among giants; every soul had its story woven into this intricate web called life.
