fable name: Esme
prompt:
Esme lost her memory a long time ago. She awoke in a pale wood, her vision blurry and her heart wilting, with a dull thrum in the back of her mind whispering that she had been separated from someone important. If she had a wish, it wouldn’t be to remember. Deep down there’s a rainy instinct that tells her it’s too late to save what she had lost. Instead, she’d wish for a second chance, and though she doesn't quite know what she’d need it for, that bygone instinct tells her that her wish already came true.
Since she’s awoke, she has spent her moonlights wandering, searching for critters to take under her metaphorical wing, guarding and playing and nursing them back to health. Whatever they need to thrive, she’ll give them, until they don’t need her anymore. It feels… familiar. It feels like forgiveness.
It feels like home.
