Prompt Number: 16
Response: Honestly just chatting with fellow dog people and finding people who's other hobbies overlap has been so much fun. I'm fairly new to the community still (only 3 months in so far!) but I decided to join because I love dogs, it seemed fun, and honestly the newest batch (the mosaic pearls!) had drawn me in and then I got my girl Rhea!
Prompt Number: 15
Response:It felt TOO easy to pick my first collie so instead, here's Rin! She's my first pup from a breeding of my own dogs <3 Honestly her looks took my breath away and her lore just fell into place. She's the youngest dog of the 5 who actually reside with the kennel owner, Kat, and she's just so baby. I wish I could cuddle her irl.
Prompt Number: 5
Response: So 95% of the time collies join Kat's kennel through breeding, whether of her own dogs or obtaining a pup from a fellow kennel runner. Introducing puppies is a process she's very well practiced in and her dogs generally understand the gist of it.
One of the biggest exceptions to this with Neyha.
When Neyha joined her home, she was already nearly a year and a half old. She wasn't produced by Olympuic Valley but instead a friend of hers. The original owner of Neyhe returned her after life complications, and her friend was very overloaded at the time and knew she couldn't give Neyha the attention she deserved.
So she turned to Kat.
Kat only had Rhea, Kalvis, and Akan at the time so she readily agreed.
Neyha was still young and not as well trained as she could be. It was the first time she'd brought an adult dog, that hadn't previously been a litter here, into her home. The dogs had no qualms with other dogs in the training hall, but her home was different.
She introduced everyone outdoors first before putting Neyha's kennel in her own space and made sure her pack had space that Neyha couldn't get into. She wouldn't leave them alone together unsupervised for quite a while, especially since Neyha was deep in her chewing phase.
Her highest priority is her pack's safety and comfort. Some small stress is always expected when a new dog is added, but having seperation and supervisiong ensures happy transitions.
And it all worked out in the end. 6 months later just as Kat had started to line up a new home for her (she never intended to keep her, just train her and help her find a new family) and Neyha got along great with the rest of the pack.
