The water here is calm, the reef's gentle embrace shielding the nursery from the restless tides. Strands of seagrass sway in rhythmic waves, sheltering the smallest lives drifting between the coral. Tiny fry flit through the shadows, their small figures catching the glow of bioluminescent light.

Deeper in the cove, where the ocean hushes to a whisper, two Hydrafelidae move in slow circles, their forms weaving through the water in quiet understanding. A bond, unspoken but certain, forms between them as they drift toward the nesting grounds.

Here, beneath the watchful sea, the next generation will take shape - some mirroring their lineage, others shaped by the mysteries of the deep. No two tides are the same, and with each new wave, the ocean brings something new.

Prompt/Art: The pod hosts an enormous naming celebration once the fry open their eyes, with handmade decorations and personalized songs! Here, the fry gains their name, with a few choices presented by the entire pod and chosen by the parents. For every fry, one sphere made of bone is buried under the nursery to represent the roots of each and every fry. These spheres are most often carved by siblings, parents, or other kin!

The Crowned Majesty Neela finds the birth of a new clutter a blessing from a sea gods of the beyond! Alongside her parter, Crowned Highness Margo, they celrete with a festival for the newly-made parent(s). The city would have gifts and games to play as the other dance and play music. Colorful fish scales and small rocks would be thrown into the air like confetti, making the party even more lively. A painting would be made of the newborn frys and some odes would be made to them; wishing a bright future and good health. As it's Neela and Margo's turn to be parents, they a striving to make their celebration super big this time! Neela and Margo wasn't able to make one for her pod for a while since the construction of their new city, but that'll change soon.

The birth of a new clutter is a time of both celebration and uncertainty within the pod. Some hydrafelis race each other throughout the waves, bodies twisting in playful spirals, as they weave around the expecting parents, occasionally slowing to softly nudge and rub against them. Others gather gifts from the seafloor, such as smooth shells, polished stones, and even carved bones, to instead present to the parents. The strongest hunters, and those weary of any celebration, venture off to bring back enough catches to sustain the others in their joy. Although, beneath the surface, a quiet unease does linger. Each member of the pod comes from a different past, raised by different customs, some in the safety of tight-knit groups, others left to fend for themselves. And as they gather to witness life come to a pod of their own making, uncertainty tugs at their thoughts. Whose ways will shape the young? Whose lessons will they follow?
