That was a question that she couldn't answer herself- as it has been many eons ago that she has last gazed upon the stars with a close friend.
Delphi, was her name.
✧✧✧
"Are you sure that this is a suitable time to gaze upon the stars?"
The starry-furred plate dragon smiled and giggled, nodding her head. "Yeah I'm sure of it! It doesn't need to be
too dark out- you can see at least one star as soon as the sun sets."
Delphi nodded, although skeptical of her friend's word. She turned her head up and looked at the gradient pink sky, a small smile on her face.
"What's your favorite constellation?"
"Well...despite...you know- the ones on my fur I would have to go with cassiopeia...why- whats your favorite constellation?"
"Nothing, I was just curious...but mine?...I hate to be basic- but I just
adore the zodiac constellations." Delphi glanced over at her with a sheephish smile.
"Oh, thats nice- I see nothing wrong with-
oh."
The two plate dragons laughed before turning thier attention back to the telescope that the starry-furred one had brought with them on their trip. The grassy meadows waved and dance with the light wind- leaves shook from the apple and pine trees nearby. Water ran next to them- providing all sorts of ambiance to the area.
It was like music to their ears.
The mountains were close by, taking on the pinkish hues of the sky. Pink was her favorite color- and it will not change for the longest time.
Though there was a time where the sunset was red. The next day had only brough pain and misery to the starry furred dragon.

She floated in space for what felt like years. She could have saved her- could have found a way to prevent her illness from taking over her. One moment she was a friend- and now a lover- and now gone. Sure, that was the price of being an immortal. You'd lose all your mortal friends and those who wasn't blessed with the same curse as you were. She thought she could have mentally prepared herself for the next friend she could have met- but no one could have prepared her for Delphi.
And she'll find no one else like her.
✧✧✧
Converstaions between them had replayed over and over again.
"What's your favorite constellation?""...Cassiopeia...Yours?""You."Tears rolled down the starry-one's face- stars breaking off and floating into nothingness.
Just. Like. Her.
The starts that she had shed floated around her. She stared at them curiously, tears continuosly falling from her face. She cusped her paws togehter and held them- with each movement of her paws- the stars moved. She did this for a few minutes- even hours...and then an idea dawned on her.
✧✧✧
She took her paws and weaved the star-like tears together- each star having a memory tied to it. There was twelve total, but one she kept aside- close to her- with the same memory playing over and over and
over again.
"What's your favorite constellation?""...Cassiopeia...Yours?""You."She weaved very intricately, making sure that no memory was broken or forgotten. She didn't know what she as doing- not having done this before. Sure it was a bit...odd but it didn't matter- it was something that was
hers- something that was a gift to her friend, knowing that she would enjoy it either way.
once she had completed her creation, she used her paws to push it up to the sky. It settled, blending in perfectly well as if it has been there before her. She stared at it, her eyes tearing up at the beauty that twinkled before her.
"I think..."
she paused for a moment, thinking of a name of this new constellation.
"I think I will name you
Delphi...but
Del for short."
✧✧✧
Due to how the position of the constellation, she would only be able to see it on March 8th- more so at 6pm, where the sun starts to set.
And when the time came, she traveled down to earth, with her telescope in hand. A star followed behind her as she landed. She set up the telescope and looked up at the sky as the sun started to set. Her tail swayed back and forth as the breeze made the meadows and trees dance. The water rushed past her creating a familiar ambiance so well.
The star sparkled and she turned to it and smiled. A silent conversation happened between them, just as Del started to appear in the sky.

Then, something moved behind her. She craned her neck and there was a platling, curious on who she was and what she was doing. She never gave a name but she beckoned the platling forward.
"Its a device that allows you to view the stars up close- here you want to try- there's plenty of room for the both of us to use- I can even show you a constellation I just made not too long ago."
The platling trilled in excietment, which the starry one echoed back. They huddled together, their eyes bright as they looked through the telescope.
The starry one guided the telescope up towards the sky, the platling beaming in intrest and in awe. Shooting stars passed on by, in a small group. The nose of the telescope tipped up and there it was-
Del.

photoshop credit to make it non-reflective and not so crunchy: woofer-moosh"You see the little bubble in the corner? That will tell you the names of each constellations when you pan over to them- remember to aim it at one of the stars connecting to that constellation- there you go!The starry one beamed with pride when the platling managed to move the telescope on their own accord. She took a step back and looked up at the sky and sighed. Del was radient tonight- perfect for her debut.
The platling babbled on.
And she smiled, knowing what she must do. "You know what," she hummed, moving away, "You can have the telescope- a gift to you from me..."
The platling was hesitant, but thankful nonetheless.
They both stayed until the platling had to go, and the starry one had packed the telescope up and small enough to where it was an easy carry for them.
She smiled and stayed in the field until the first hint of sunlight.

She returned to her home and near Del, peering back into the memories.
Eons passed- and she visited the earth on the 8th day of March every year. SHe hummed and turned her head when a question was thrown at her, a soft and welcoming voice, reminding her of Delphi,
"When was the last time you ever went stargazing with a friend?"
