fable name: marr
rumor:
there’s a swamp monster in town! I swear I saw it! last night I looked out my window, and through the fog I saw a pair of menacing eyes and a glowing orb right on top of them. I froze in place because, well, I was so scared, and then the eyes blinked, I tell you!!! they blinked! yes, the fog makes it hard to see, but… no, I wasn’t hallucinating! did I go outside to check it out? of course not! what if it eats me? you’re… going to come over tonight to check it out with me? …okay, fine. but I’m telling the truth!

is it true?:
pfft. whatever. we went outside and I was shaking, I was so scared! and it was… just marr, taking a moonlit swim. I can’t believe he scared me like that!!!

fable name: Nótt
rumor: if you leave a MoonPie out for them they will bless and guard your dreams from night terrors.
is it true?: they'd be grateful for the MoonPie, take it as an invitation to crash on your couch, raid your pantry leaving nothing but crumbs and wrappers, and keep you up all night playing video games full blast.
☾ So beware when leaving out a MoonPie for Nótt, you'd end up actually inviting a little night terror. ☽

Fable name: Elysian

Rumor:
Enamored by the moon he wished upon an ancient being for it to stay at his side. He wished regardless of the cost, losing his sight for the moon.

Is it true?:
The stag followed the moon, blinded by its beauty. He did not know he had lost his sight, his vision long gone black, yet he could still see the moon; the moon became his vision.

I long for the moon
Yet it does not long for me
So I will take it, chain it
In a world of our own

A twisted wish he spoke, yet he got it nonetheless.

fable name: Pensive
rumor: Rumor is this fable was originally a fawn who drowned when he swam too far out into a river. He was washed away only to come back as what he is now. He spends his time mostly in bogs showing up at night.
is it true?: Yes, we think. Its not really something he has confirmed or denied but is highly likely since he has alluded to it a few times.

    fable name: Achlys
rumor: There’s talk of a Fable born under a rare celestial alignment, its coat black at the top, fading into a rich dark green at the bottom, like a shadow merging with the earth. It was spotted near an ancient, overgrown ruin, its hooves silent on the moss-covered stones. Some believe it’s a sign of a lost kingdom returning, while others say it’s a Fable of the earth, bound to protect secrets buried in the forgotten ruins. A few brave souls claim to have seen it vanish into the foliage, leaving only the scent of damp earth and the rustle of leaves.
is it true?: No one can say for sure. Some insist the Verdant Shade is real, having witnessed its graceful yet eerie presence near the ruins. But no one has managed to approach it without being swallowed by the dense forest or losing their way. There are too many tales of vanished travelers and too few to confirm its existence fully.

fable name: Khonsu
rumor: The whispering started with the children whom were out playing in the pale moonlight. They'd seen it, they swore, a flash of silver between the trees, a creature with eyes that glowed with the moon's own light and two horns similar to that of a cresent. The old fable of the village had scoffed, calling it their fanciful minds. But then his wife claimed she saw it too; its breath a shimmering mist. Soon a rumor settled in the village like a frost: the unicorn-like creature said to inhabit woods wasn't just a creature. It was a moon god.
is it true?: I guess that's up to your own interpretation.. do you think it's true? Or is it a trick of the eye?

fable name: Maester
rumor: Can control the seasons with the little moon over its head
is it true?:
While incredibly compelling ,, it's not true. Maester tends to travel thru the seasons , returning to one of two different villages for fall and winter. Whenever a villager sees it walking slowly thru the fog , they tend to spot the bright moon overhead and in an instant know that winter has arrived. As soon as Maester arrives , winter tends to fall on the village within a day - and as soon as spring rears it's head Maester leaves to travel to the other village for its winter.

fable name: Hecate
rumor:

"They say it only appears on nights of the full moon – a shadow in the darkness, as silent as the wind. Those who stare into its glowing white eyes for too long are said to never sleep again, for it steals dreams and leaves only endless wakefulness. Some claim it protects the night, while others fear it gathers the world's nightmares, waiting for the day it will set them free."

is it true?:

Partially true. It does only appear on full moons, but it does not steal dreams – it merely sees into the souls of those who gaze upon it, making those who hide secrets feel uncomfortable and restless.

    fable name: Argent
rumor: Rumor has it that silvery Argent has a twin sister, Aurelia. Catching a glimpse of Aurelia's elusive golden crescent is said to bring good fortune.
is it true?: Argent and Aurelia are the one and the same fable, the light just illuminates him differently during special celestial alignments.

fable name: Nere
rumor: there’s whisper amongst the local fable herds that Nere is an agent of chaos, the god of death itself, here on this mortal plane to wreak havoc and destroy all life. He’s the boogieman fable parents warn their offspring about, and the root cause of many superstitions surrounding the Dark Wood, especially the tales about unfortunate fables going missing in the Dark Wood on nights of the full moon.
is it true?: no, but himself and some of his own herd mates do not help matters by feeding into and adding to the rumours and stories heh, it keeps things interesting when strangers pass through
