Name: Halley (after Halley's Comet)
NY Resolution: I'd like to learn more about astronomy! I love the night sky, but for the longest time, the only constellation I could reliably find was the Great Bear. Even with maps to help, I could never quite figure out the rest, and then felt too incompetent to dig deeper. Last summer, I finally spotted another constellation, Cassiopeia. From there, I began to figure out the night sky more and more, recognising further constellations. What a fantastic feeling! Like finally being able to decipher a map that previously was just gibberish, only that this map is the sky above. This year, I want to build on to that. Find out more about the constellations and how to find them in the sky, and what main stars they consist of. Actively research observations that confuse me rather than just brushing it off as "some weird star" (also found out this summer only that the extremely bright "star" that rises above the neighboring rooftop is actually Saturn). Depending on my financial situation, I might even buy a (small) telescope!
