New Years Tradition: This lad sorta has a combination of traditions that if not done on New years Eve/Day then he becomes very superstitious! On New Years Eve he's got to leave a door open to bring in the new year; the stall door, the barn door, shed or house door, he doesn't care which door, but its got to be open from 11:59pm new Years Eve to 12:01am New Years Day. And then on New Years Day, he has to eat a glorious helping of fried cabbage and a minimum of black-eyed peas for each year of his age (5 years old = eat at least 5 black-eyed peas) but he loves them and the symbolism so he usually ends up eating the whole pot. The cabbage and black-eyed peas eaten on New Years day symbolize good luck and fortune for the new year.

New Years Tradition: calcifer’s tradition is drinking sparkling water! every year his family gets together to celebrate the new years. they always have fancy buckets with sparkling juice, and it is one of his highlights! that along with getting to stay up late.
(this is based off me with my family. we would always have the sparkling juice in the glass bottle, with fancy little glasses. it is a tradition i have brought into my family and enjoy very much. sometimes its just the littlest things with tons of meaning!)

New Years Tradition:
Tossing stones into the water! He collects them throughout the year every time something significant happens, and piles them safely next to the river. When the time comes for the year to change, he makes his way to the spot at night, carefully uncovering his hoard. One by one, he turns over the stones, admiring their various shapes, patterns, colours, textures, and relives the memory associated with each. Then they are then gently tossed in the river. A symbol of letting go, but also embracing the beauty and flaws of the past year. His hoard is then empty, ready for the next trials and beautiful memories. The river runs over the old ones - slowly smoothing them out.

tradition: his tradition is gathering with the rest of the herd and traveling up high into the mountains nearby. the trek takes a whole day, but the group uses the time to share stories and reflect the past year, good and bad. once they reach the peak of the tallest mountain, they huddle together wait until nightfall to watch the meteor shower / falling stars that happen every new years eve. some lucky foals will even catch some debris sizzling into the snow nearby if they pay attention.
currently busy planning my wedding in July.

New Years Tradition: To eat ice-cream. Right as the clock strikes midnight, he and his family will dig into their favorite flavor of ice-cream. This all came from an assignment he had as a foal, to make a little book talking about their family's new years tradition. Since he didn't have one, he made it up. When his parents got the assignment back from the teacher, they decided to officially make eating ice-cream their new tradition in honor of their son's imagination. They still do it to this day.

New Years Tradition: His New Years morning tradition is looking for "gifts of the last year" - frozen berries! Covered by just a tiny crunch of ice, cool but still sweet, they're a perfect equine treat on a cold wintery day, and he leaves them especially for the new year morning to celebrate the coming of new year, with a little treat the old year had left them! Since birds also actively seek those out, he looks at the top branches where they sit to find where there may be some - and often eats frozen berries together with his bird buddies. So you can say, his tradition is going out and eating fun snacks with his friends!

New Years Tradition: even though he finds them too tart for his normal preferred taste, he eats a granny smith apple on the morning of new years as good luck! he believes that powering through the strange “spicy” apple shows drive and dedication!

New Years Tradition: Every year when the new year rolls around, Alistair makes a journey. As leader of his herd it's his duty (among other things) to lead them to new lands in their mountain region, ensuring they have suitable greens to eat and places to shelter. He chooses to go out at dusk on new years eve, letting the winds lead him to greener pastures. They haven't led him wrong yet!
