Prompt;
Jasper was always known to be a tinkerer. What else was he supposed to do? He hadn't really been able to interact much with others his kind or many of the humans besides the one he travels with; His human preferred solitary travel and so that was the default standard when it came to space travel, solitary, alone. He didn't mind it, he certainly was USED to it, but his human was always busy (not that he blamed them) so he had nothing to do but tinker. Of course, Jasper made sure to never steal parts that were important, only picking spare parts and the occasional souvenir of whichever planet he happened to be on at the time if anything piqued his interest, but he made anything he could with the parts and pieces.. Which usually unless helping his human fix something, equated to building glorified useless junk, but whatever kept him entertained. Jasper could, albeit vaguely remember a time when this weren't the case, when he was born on a planet and lived among a group of sneezes, he didn't remember much details on what this planet looked like besides how vibrant the outside looked though to how young he was. (Despite never being allowed outside the base, he never understood why back then and couldn't remember why now..) His time on that planet was short lived as he was given to his human and began travelling soon after. Jasper spent most of his life past that point travelling and wasnt sure if he'd ever return to the planet or any planet like it in those travels...

That is, until recently- Or so he thought at first. The planet was semi-habitable, and had a blue sky and.. Some form of lush greenery much like the planet from his childhood, but he wasnt sure at all if it was the same. People were allowed to roam freely on this one it seemed, he wasnt sure if he saw anyone outside the base on the planet he was born on. Either way, it was a change of scenery from the usual affair of either nothing-but-space-for-a-lightyear or plain-grey-rocky-wastelands and a change of scenery was VERY much appreciated in his mind. He wandered outside to explore- it was only meant to just be a simple walk to take in the new scenery when he saw scattered pieces of something fall from the sky, something that was far too large to be a meteor shower, something he knew he HAD to check out, if for anything to see what scraps he could scavenge to experiment with. And so he was going to. He returned to the ship to quickly jolt out a (sloppy and barely legible) sorry letter on the ships computer and hijacked what he dubbed a hovery-thing (Jasper has never seen them before and was too hurried to find out what they were called) to get off the floating(!!) island that the base was located on and made his way towards one of crash sites not knowing that what he'd find at the crashsite would be the start of a major change in jasper's life and the abandonment of the life he was previously used to.
