LEAFBARE || The days are cold. The nights are long. Snow falls periodically, coating the grass with a frosty sheen of ice. It is perhaps the hardest season, but many agree it to also be the most beautiful. Hungry predators prowl through the forests, greedy enough to attack fiercer opponents for the slightest chance at a measly scrap to eat. The levels of sickness rise to an almost unbearable point, and most agree on one thing. Life is hard.

Border Patrols:

• Energyball's patrol strikes forth, determination driving their paws onward until the reek of badger is so overpowering that some begin coughing and breathing shallowly. The creature lumbers into their sights, but their numbers outweigh the individual creature's strength and viciousness. The battle was over before it began, and soon the badger lay, unmoving, at their paws. Energyball crows over their victory, pride filling his chest as he noted that no cats had sustained serious injuries. All were bruised, scuffed, and battered, but all would be able to return to patrolling the next day after celebrating.
• Quiverdance's patrol finds a lone cat wandering throughout the territory, fear of discovery making their every step shaky. After several long moments of reassurances, they agree to accompany the patrol back to camp.

the grand theater has been abandoned for a long time. creatures all around
whisper about a calamity, a fire, a flood, anything and everything.
there's no clear answer. that's how it stays. and then, one day,
an actor pads onto the stage. the spotlights flicker, and just
beyond the light, they see a vision of what once existed.
a lovely molly, dancing her heart out. a tomcat, expressing all of his sorrows.
they see everything and nothing at the same time, but it's so captivating, so─
"brilliant, isn't it?" a voice calls out, and the actor spins around to see a mist-like cat.
"this used to be my theater. once the twolegs left for the night, we would take over."
it's as if she almost glides towards them, light as a feather. "but then... well, you
know what happened. the twolegs took us with them, and the theater was no more."

ave nepeta (latin for hail/farewell catmint) is a group of cats who have one particular goal in mind: recreate the story of their ancestors, the cats who inhabited the grand theater long ago. cats of ave nepeta are very diverse in terms of coats because they all have a distinguishable part to play in the scenario and come from different areas. they reside in the audience seating area, and when it is time, they set foot onto the stage. they get their water from a fountain in the lobby. there is also an abandoned garden outside the theater for herbs and hunting. if an announcement needs to be made, then the cat making it must sit on the edge of the onstage balcony (think romeo and juliet) and yowl it out to all the cats in the theater. the stage lighting system works too, even if it's a bit shabby (and yes, they can operate it. cats are funny).

the ave nepeta ranking system is the same as a regular clan's, just with different names for each rank. the leader is also known as the playwright, the creator of the play. the deputy is the director, and medicine cats are managers, which have their own assistant managers in place of apprentices. the regular warriors are known as the cast, the apprentices as understudies. queens are now standby, for they will one day return to being a part of the cast, and kits are extras, background actors. the once-cast members, elders, are honored by becoming cameos in the play. the deceased are known as fallen stars.

understudies must learn 4 skills: hunting, patrolling, acting and fighting. in the abandoned theater, prey types include: mice, squirrels, shrews, voles, snakes and ermines. predators include: rats, dogs, poisonous snakes and other creatures, coyotes and the occasional reckless twoleg.

the grand theater has been abandoned for a long time. creatures all around
whisper about a calamity, a fire, a flood, anything and everything.
there's no clear answer. that's how it stays. and then, one day,
an actor pads onto the stage. the spotlights flicker, and just
beyond the light, they see a vision of what once existed.
a lovely molly, dancing her heart out. a tomcat, expressing all of his sorrows.
they see everything and nothing at the same time, but it's so captivating, so─
"brilliant, isn't it?" a voice calls out, and the actor spins around to see a mist-like cat.
"this used to be my theater. once the twolegs left for the night, we would take over."
it's as if she almost glides towards them, light as a feather. "but then... well, you
know what happened. the twolegs took us with them, and the theater was no more."

ave nepeta (latin for hail/farewell catmint) is a group of cats who have one particular goal in mind: recreate the story of their ancestors, the cats who inhabited the grand theater long ago. cats of ave nepeta are very diverse in terms of coats because they all have a distinguishable part to play in the scenario and come from different areas. they reside in the audience seating area, and when it is time, they set foot onto the stage. they get their water from a fountain in the lobby. there is also an abandoned garden outside the theater for herbs and hunting. if an announcement needs to be made, then the cat making it must sit on the edge of the onstage balcony (think romeo and juliet) and yowl it out to all the cats in the theater. the stage lighting system works too, even if it's a bit shabby (and yes, they can operate it. cats are funny).

understudies must learn 4 skills: hunting, patrolling, acting and fighting. in the abandoned theater, prey types include: mice, squirrels, shrews, voles, snakes and ermines. predators include: rats, dogs, poisonous snakes and other creatures, coyotes and the occasional reckless twoleg.
