Prompt: Oh MAN i LOVE Cheetahs! One of my favorite facts about them is how their social networks work. They tend to rely on cues given from those they trust! This is most often why you'll see the cute Cheetah and dog combos at zoos- it's their emotional support friend! They feel anxious but see the dog is calm and relaxed and go "Oh okay! We must be safe if my friend thinks its safe."
(Don't even get me started on stories of wildlife photographers who were around enough that cheetahs went "Oh you seem chill" and just- left her cubs with him to watch LOL)

Prompt: The distinctive black "tear marks" on a cheetah's face actually help them hunt! They help by reducing glare — similar to how football players wear black marks under their eyes, cheetahs' tear marks help block the sun's glare, especially in open plains, and focusing on prey — the tear marks help cheetahs focus on their prey at a distance, similar to how a rifle scope works.

Prompt: Cheetah cubs have a long mane of fur along their backs that looks similar to a honey badger's! It's believed they evolved this way because many animals know not to mess with a honey badger, so if they see something that looks like one, they'll stay far away from it! This helps ensure that the cheetah cubs stay safe :)

Gender: female
Prompt: cheetahs cannot roar-- instead they chirp, yelp, and purr! this is because they're part of the felinae subfamily along with cougars and housecats, instead of the pantherinae family like lions and tigers. the main difference in these subfamilies is the shape of their hyoid bone-- the pantherinae's is more elastic, allowing them to roar, while the felinae's is more restrictive.

Prompt:
Compared to other felids, cheetah cubs are highly vulnerable to several predators during the first few weeks of their life. Mothers keep their cubs hidden in dense vegetation for the first two months and nurse in the early morning. The mother is extremely vigilant at this stage; she stays within 1 km (0.62 mi) of the lair, frequently visits her cubs, moves them every five to six days, and remains with them after dark.
