Hunting 1; Crowfrost's patrol caught x1 pigeon!

Hunting 2; Sunshine's patrol caught x2 mice and x1 crow!
- Ravencall found herself in deep trouble when she ventured too high up the treetops, feeling dizzy as she clung onto the tree bark, telling herself repeatedly not to look down. Pepperstripe paced anxiously on the ground below, scared for the safety of her daughter as she overheard Sunshine attempt to instruct her on how to climb down safely. Tragically the young scout lost her footing and crashed to the ground - the head damage sustained from the blow enough to take her life quickly...

Hunting 3; Birchclaw's patrol caught x1 mouse!
- Tempestfang got into a fight with a rogue, the other cat screeched that he was a monster as his pelt glowed a faint green when they crossed paths. His opponent easily overpowered him - an older cat against a freshly named warrior - but the tide quickly turned when his father entered the battlefield and threw himself onto the rogue. Tempestfang watched in awe as Birchclaw yowled defensively and clawed the other cat across the eyes, sending them running off. As soon as the cat left, Birchclaw padded up to Tempestfang and began licking his wounds clean, muttering words of comfort as he helped him home and straight to the healer's den. | Tempestfang requires x1 chamomile, x1 wild garlic, and two moons of rest.

- Hawkflight's paw pads grew raw and cracked after spending so long in the snow. | Hawkflight requires x1 yarrow.

Hunting 4; Whitepool's patrol caught x1 pigeon!

Hunting 5; Peakbreeze's patrol caught x1 vole, x1 mouse, and x1 pigeon!

Patrolling 1; Malibusky and his cats track down the last known location of the dog, only to find stale scent and old paw prints. It seems the beast moved on.

Patrolling 2; Patchcloud's border patrol passed by uneventfully.

Herb Gathering; Softfern gathered x1 alder bark and x1 daisy leaves.
- Snowdance added x1 mouse bile.
- Horizonsong added x1 chervil.

Training; Creampaw failed her scout assessment, but can try again as soon as she's well.
- Creampaw ran straight into a bush, an automatic failure due to not taking in her surroundings as a future scout made even worse by the fact that the thorns cut into her skin. | Creampaw requires x1 dock and one moon of rest.

leaf-bare -- snow lies in massive drifts over the territories. even the warmest areas feel the effects, from frost killing vulnerable plants, to causing coughs to those who have experienced too much exposure. as prey and herbs have become scarce, there will also be fewer strangers looking to explore the vast clan territories. queens may have a harder time kitting, so medicine cats will need to be well-stocked and prepared for the following moons.

WEATHER !!

LEAFBARE || The days are cold. The nights are long. Snow falls periodically, coating the grass with a frosty sheen of ice. It is perhaps the hardest season, but many agree it to also be the most beautiful. Hungry predators prowl through the forests, greedy enough to attack fiercer opponents for the slightest chance at a measly scrap to eat. The levels of sickness rise to an almost unbearable point, and most agree on one thing. Life is hard.

Border Patrol:

• Flyingbison's patrol flinches with each step back toward camp, the cats completely separate from Cypressstar, as if avoiding being near him. Cypressstar hunches over and coughs viciously, entire body shaking with the effort it took to breathe and regain his composure. It takes one look at the weakening tom to note the snot running from his nose, the dull eyes, and the rattling breath in his chest. The Ringmaster has contracted greencough and will need 2 moons of rest and 2 catmint.
• Shotglass's patrol is forced to return early as the snow picks up, obscuring the path forward and making them stumble home blindly.
• Pantscat's patrol practically clamps their paws over their ears as they escort Flamingcheeto into Weasel's den. The molly had decided to see what squirrels like so much about acorns, and she hadn't stopped complaining about a tooth hurting her since. With a quick glance over, Weasel determines she will need 1 moon of rest OR 1 alder bark.
• Tabletop's patrol can hear the cat's teeth chattering as they approach the border, eyes narrowed on a stranger stranded in a snowdrift deeper than they were tall. After some digging and tugging, the shivering cat is escorted back to their camp so the cats can help warm them up.

• Yellowbrick's patrol seems somewhat confused in Ironhead's pride in the 12 pebbles he carries back into camp.
• Mountaindew's patrol grows wary as their noses wrinkle around the scent of a badger. It seems the creature has nested within KeyClan's borders. Perhaps a patrol should return to drive it out.
• Stickbug's patrol shivers their way back into the camp, loudly complaining that the snow made it impossible to set scent markers or even find the border.

Hunting Patrols:

• Peppershaker's patrol returns with 2 shrews, 2 rats, 1 bat, 1 big fish, and 1 small fish.
• Driftveil's patrol returns with 1 mouse, 1 rat, and 2 bats.

• Milkway begins to itch while on patrol, the feeling eventually becoming so unbearable that she visits Weasel. Within seconds, she spots fleas running across Milkyway's skin. Weasel curls her nose up while deciding that Milkyway will need 1 moon of rest.
• Seedbomb's paws slow as they approach the camp, their waning concentration drifting into delirium as they trundle toward Weasel's den. Weasel recoils when she discovers the cat is burning up with a fever. Seedbomb will need 2 moons of rest and 1 feverfew.

• Bookclub's patrol returns with 1 big fish, 2 snakes, and 1 ermine.

• Hamlet dives into a bush after the ermine, deciding he can go anywhere the wily weasel's cousin can. Despite his triumphant catch, he winces at the hundreds of scrapes along his face and sides. Weasel just shakes her head slowly, knowing the tom will need 1 moon of rest and 1 stinging nettle to avoid future infection.
• Beansauce's body begins to slow as a tickle in his throat grows, bubbling past his lips in a sputtering cough. The rattle in his chest is not as significant as Cypressstar's, but it will clearly grow to be just as devastating if not stopped at its current whitecough stage. He will need 1 moon of rest and 1 tansy.

• Daffodilboots's patrol returns with 1 rabbit, 1 mouse, 1 hare, 1 bat, and 1 hawk.

• Daffodilboots's jaw begins to ache after snapping his jaws closed within a hairlength of a stoat's tail. Despite trying to ignore it, his patrolmates urge him to pay Weasel a visit. Giving in, he is told he will need 1 moon of rest OR 1 alder bark.

• Babypuff's patrol returns with 1 shrew, 2 squirrels, 2 hawks, and 1 rat.

• Babypuff's entire body trembles with the cold as she enters the camp, and her patrolmates press close around her. Her breath clouds in front of her, and she can barely feel her paws, ears, or nose. She'll clearly need 1 moon of rest or 1 feverfew to get back to her normal self.

• Onefish's patrol returns with 1 rat, 1 mouse, 2 small fish, 1 big fish, and 1 frog.

• Thunderwave scurries up the tree after the squirrel, not even caring where their paws grip. Without warning, the bark beneath their claws shreds and they plummet towards the ground. Unable to twist in time, they slam into the grand muzzle-first, a sickening crack echoing through their skull. As they were carried back to camp, barely conscious through the pain, the could hear their patrolmates muttering about the odd angle of their jaw. Dustythorn had fallen in love with his kits the moment he'd laid eyes on them. They had been
formally introduced to the Court two sunrises ago, the same day that Peonystep had panickedly
burst into the new family's den with the realization that the Lord of Thorns had never been given
his court name.

Under the eyes of The Eternity, Dustystep had become Dustythorn, and his children had been named.
Bramble, the Crown Lilac, whom would one day follow Promisedrose's paws into leadership of the
Court. Moon, the Crown Iris, who would train under Lotusseed to become a future Lord of the Fields.
And finally, little Cactus with her nearly-spiky wiry fur who would someday take over Dustythorn's
own duties, their Crown Dahlia.

A litter of three, and a guaranteed next generation for each of the court positions that would be
inherited.

It was...a bit wild, to be honest. Any more kits and they would have Crown Lotuses within the Court.
Any less, and the roles would be inherited by future siblings, or by close friends. But with their
perfect litter of three, the next court would be tightly knit, bound in a way only littermates could
be.

And Dustythorn was so, so proud of Promisedrose. All three of their curly-furred kits were bound
close to her side. They'd named Zwartkopshadow as their kits guardian. Cordylineblade had done
a wonderful job with Bumble and Pollen, but she deserved a break. And as much as Scallionsnarl
was an excellent Thorn Knight, Zwartkopshadow had been with the Court for much longer, and
Dustythorn knew she was more than deserving of the honor that would come with being the
heirs guard.

In the meantime, Scallionsnarl would serve as an excellent guard for Zwartkopshadow's litter.
Nobody had known the she-cat was expecting, much less herself, but the kitting had gone
as smoothly as it could, and the two kittens were thankfully healthy. One of them had already
opened his eyes, if only for a split second. But it was long enough that Zwartkopshadow had
been able to name the father as a stranger she had met several moons ago and had found to
be good company. He had moved on, as was his way, and she had thought nothing more of it.

Until now of course. Lavender and Statice would make excellent companions to Dustythorn's
own kits, and it was nice to know that they wouldn't grow up with only each other as Bumble
and Pollen had.

All in all, things were shaping up wonderfully for his kits. Dustythorn just worried for the
other claw to strike.

"Copperleaf! Shinepaw! Copperleaf! Shinepaw!"

"So," Newstar mewed after a long silence. "You said before that you followed Driftwood, not the Admiral." Copperleaf kept walking. She did not make a habit of answering unasked questions. Newstar cleared their throat. "What made you loyal to her instead of your leader?" Copperleaf rhythmically flicked her tail as she thought how to answer. Presently she sighed. "Driftwood is like kin to me," she said. "And the Admiral's to blame for my mate's death." Newstar gently offered their condolences, but Copperleaf shook her head. "It's the way of things at sea, but..." She gazed out to the ocean. The chill wind blew off the waves and sent wisps of sand skittering across the cats' path. "But it was preventable. It broke Cab-- Shinepaw. His work suffered, and the Admiral punished him for it." Copperleaf turned to Newstar and showed them a scarred gash along her cheek. "Punished me for speakin' against him. Driftwood leavin' was the last straw. We had no more reason to stay."

To Oliveheart's surprise, the old sea-cat deferred to his clan seniority as they hunted through the riverside foliage. She seemed a natural, and had very little trouble keeping up with the young tom.

Shinepaw helps Whitepaw practice for her assessment. They play-fight in the camp clearing until they tussle through the freshkill pile and Glassfang hollers at them to quit rough-housing in camp.
Driftwood helps Shinepaw & Copperleaf build their nests. They don't speak much of the Admiral's Crew, but they find comfort in each other.

Chapter
--Everything was gone. Forgotten. Destroyed.

Mouse knew it wasn't for long that everything would stay forgotten and destroyed. No, she saw the visions, and she knew that something, somewhere, was waiting for her. The flickers of hope in her dreams told her so, and she had always followed her dreams. Her sense of sureness had led her this far in life, had never steered her wrong - even when her family would call her crazy for believing in something that she didn't even know was real, Mouse persisted in that she was going to restore something powerful.

Her day finally came when she saw them. There were five of them, each looking lost, a faraway look in their eyes. She could tell they were somewhere else, at least mentally. Something disasterous had happened to them, she was sure of it - much like she was sure that these were the cats she was meant to find. She gave it a few days, seeing where they had been camping; an abandoned barn, roomy, spacious, offering enough protection from the elements while still being far enough away from the normal activity of Twolegs in the area. No one bothered that barn.

Mouse just needed a plan. A plan to approach the strangers, to figure out how to introduce herself as their new leader. It sounded almost impossible when she thought about it, but she felt oddly calm - this was her destiny. That night, before she introduced herself to them, she met him - the old leader of ShiningClan, as he told her it was called.

Scorchstar, was his name. A cat from a once powerful clan that got driven away by rogues, destroyed, disbanded. Mouse had the blood of ancient ShiningClan cats in her veins, and she was to take over the clan. The dream didn't last long, for it seemed Scorchstar had a lack of powers where she was, but he promised to see her again soon as he faded away.

At dawn, Mouse found the others. And they had already seen her in their own visions, too. So the transition was smooth, and Mouse suddenly found herself with a brand new territory, and a rag tag bunch of cats to look after. And she never felt more alive.
