Once belonging to an honest family, valuing goodness and hard work, Elwin took a long while adjusting. He was plucked from his home in The Perish of Greenrot, called upon by the Church of The Abyssal Flame. Despite his wishes he went when the bishops arrived. Elwin knew denying the Abyssal Flame would only prove detrimental to his family. And so Elwin joined the covenant unknowingly surrendering himself to the Abyssal Flame.

Elwin was guided to The Flame at The Ruins of The Black Church there was Mass to be held. It was on this arduous trek that The Flame began its corruption of the mind, steering Elwin through his journey and he obeyed every command she placed in his mind. He was rewarded for his obedience, The Abyssal Flame chose to save Elwin letting her bishops perish in the enemy laden lands between Greenrot and The Ruins of The Black Church. It was then he was deemed a Cleric by The Flame as I spoke to him, guiding him further into darkness.

Upon arriving to the charred ruins Elwin was aghast by the scene before him. every fiber of his body pleaded desperately for him to flee, but The Flame's will pulled him further into the once lively town. the city had long ago be destroyed by the wrath of the dragons, and yet heat still radiated off the ash cover rubble. It was when Elwin walked into the Black Church that belligerently stood without damage. The Abyssal Flame purred upon his entrance, a pleased rumble filled the empty pews. At the pulpit a large black flame flickered as if to give a sermon, its presence drew Elwin close. Staring into the flame Elwin was shown glimpses into his days to come; soon a terrible fate would be fall him.

after looking into the flame, Elwin bolted, sprinted so fast from the ruins that he ran into a witch! He would be so lucky as to come upon me! I offered Elwin a proposal, if he were to come with me, I would be more than happy to write him out of such a mess. I could send him on adventures if he so wished, or I could make his world serene, I could let him go about the course I had started for him. That's all I have to offer though.

Suddenly, the lights dully gleaming in his eyes surged to the surface, glimmering with joy. The colors spun and twirled in his vision, wild patterns and lights turning his plain little shadow life into a spectrum of life.

This is no ordinary lantern, it's presence leans into a source from somewhere beyond common knowledge. Vesper seems to know and carries the blue hued searchlight throughout their travels.

What Yokai truly wants is time.

Not for himself. But to give more time to his dying beloved.

Of course by scientific means, time is not something that can be created or made. However, with forbidden magic….that changes things.

However, forbidden magic is finicky. It doesn’t abide by any laws. It’s a greedy and dark form of magic. For example, offering a day of your life would only translate to an hour of time. This magic can turn time into something that’s physical. A vial of liquid. Drinking it will extend your life by said amount.
