back at it again with the 10 gen challenge! if you saw my last one then you saw my comment about the wait and being a lil burnt out x v x thank you guys for bearing with me on this one! i promise we'll get these 10 gen challenges done! one way or another! anyway these pups are for CuppaTea-- who will get first pick of one pup to keep for free! the other two pups will stay with me until the end of the challenge, at which point their fates will be determined (they'll likely be sold off for c$ or as an OTA for art, or some such!) -- one pup will be randomly selected also to be the parent of the next generation, which has been preclaimed by boolif! after boolif, gen 10 has been claimed by ikaroony! so there aren't any more claim slots available for the challenge but i may do this again some other time! : D
anyway onto the pup breakdowns!
pup 1 - left - magenta haze
for this pup i mixed the base colors of both parents, taking parent A's blue colors and mixing them with parent B's grey-blue colors to get this deeper tone of the grey-blue! I went with parent B's markings as a base (so the spotty markings, with the areas of light and dark the same with light starting at the head and ending in dark color at the tail and paws). I thought this was probably a good call since this pup has a lot of parent A's edits and I wanted to tie their other parent in more too! once I had that base layer of markings I went in and added some more details, such as face markings and star markings from parent B, and some stripes from parent A. edit-wise this pup has parent A's head wings (two sets, no ears), long horns, back mane, long tail + tail tuft, and fluffy cheeks + arms. then from parent B they have the back wings (mutated to be two pairs like their headwings, I thought it would be cute since both wing sets are of similar size on both parents), dragon nose, short horns (in combination with A's long horns), fluffy chest, spikes, and scales (on their legs and tail). I brought in parent A's cool pink/magenta color, and then used B's pastel colors-- except instead of that light teal/green for them I swapped that out for a more pastel version of the magenta color. their eyes are magenta with a splash of that bright yellow from parent A because I thought the contrast was very eye-catching! they also have dark sclera
pup 2 - middle - silverwings
for this pup i started with A's blue color as a base, then lightened it to get more blue values so i could use parent B's marking style as a base again (light spots at the head in sort of a blocked-out pseudo gradient down to darker colors on the paws and tail tip), but this time I skipped the stars and added more stripes from parent A as well as their bright underbelly marking, though I used the multicolor pastel accents from parent B for them instead of a flat color like on A. I gave this pup some fun colorful streaks in their mane and utilized the pastel accents on their horns, eyes, inner-ears, and the mane on their tail. edit-wise they have parent A's head wings (only one set, mutated to match their back wings-- and they keep their ears this time!), fluff (nose, head, ankles, haunches), tail mane (the fur on top of the tail), and their little clawed feets. from parent B they got their nose, ears, short horns, back wings, chest fluff, tail, and their scales (again on the legs and tail, though these ones are smaller and there are more of them). I tried to make this pup look like a fluffy little dragon, mixing parent A's very fluffy pelt and B's scaley parts! I also gave them little fangs because it's cute. again we have dark sclera because I just love the contrast-- and for this pup I felt like something was missing at the end so I brought in parent B's silvery colors and used them on this pups' wings like A's! I used B's silver colors instead of A's for this because the subtle blue tint is very pleasing, i think.
pup 3 - lightning in a bottle
i tried to keep this pup simpler, since A has a more simple design with complex edits, and this time i did not use B's markings as a base (despite the fact I was really having fun with that) to opt instead for a solid base. this pup takes more heavily from B's colors, specifically their darker silvers, since we have more of A's markings going on here with the flat base and stripes along the back. I also brought in B's face markings again, but modified them a bit with the stripe going off the eye because I thought it looked really cool and tied in the stripes on the body more. once I had my basic marks done I went in and added yellow as our accent, since it's a major color on parent A and I really hadn't utilized it much thus far, and i really enjoy the contrast it gives! i added a mix of the parents different accent marks, namely A's markings on the back of their legs and B's starry marks and hair stripes. for edits, from parent A this pup gets their head wings (this time spliced to be bigger and replacing one set of ears), long horns, back mane, fluff (arms, legs, ruff, tail), their little clawed feets, their tail and their tail mane (and it's not really an edit but they also have their tongue sticking out like A). from B they got their dragon nose and chest ruff, but that's about it here-- maybe the ear wings could be spliced to be bigger to match the style of B's back wings? I couldn't find a way to fit spikes in with the tail mane, and I knew I wanted one pup to not have B's scales-- plus the other configurations of horns (A and B's horns, just B's horns) were done already on my other pups, which leaves this pup lacing edits from B's department. I think that's alright though, because they do take a lot from B's colors AND they look cool without em!
