Maede / Round 1
-----
Maybe it would have been better to stay outside in the pouring rain if it meant not having to feel a lingering sense of dread at all times, clinging tightly like static in the air. It... Wasn't comfortable, to say the least, especially to a kalon who'd never thought she'd be in such a situation, nor did she exactly
want to be in such a predicament. It was kind of like entering a haunted house attraction during halloween, albeit this ghastly mansion was all too real.
Maede shuddered with every few steps she took, seeking comfort she knew she would very likely not be able to find. With her fur standing on end, she had tried to find an area of the mansion where she could at least settle down and try to get some rest. Maybe it wouldn't seem so intimidating in broad daylight - but she was all too aware that it was going to be a long night, the kind that feels endless, the kind of restless night where trying to sleep does nothing to help pass time. Even then, Maede wasn't sure if she'd even be able to will herself to shut her eyes for even a few minutes. Who knew what lurked in the old manor's hallways -
...Like that silvery spirit she could have sworn she had seen just before she entered the mansion. Ghost? Lost soul? What else could she call it? With its golden eyes and frost-white fur, she couldn't think of any living animal that matched the description of the creature that had been lurking. Maybe it could have been an elaborate hoax? If it was, Maede would've tried to get to the bottom of the mystery by trying to follow the trickster up the staircase... But not even the most experienced prankster could pull off such a prank that would cause the entity to dissapear right in front of her eyes. Nearly stumbling in her shock, Maede grabbed onto the staircase's railing to stop her from falling, pausing to clean her glasses when she had stabilized herself. Whatever she saw definitely wasn't just a smudge on her lenses.
And unfortunately for her, she wouldn't have a moment to step back and relax from her encounter before she heard something off in the distance. Was that somebody
crying?"No, no, no-" Maede mumbled worriedly under her breath, almost not knowing what to do at that point. She was hoping perhaps she had just been hearing the floors creak, but to no avail; someone, or perhaps something, was sobbing somewhere. What if it was whatever she'd just seen? Could there of been another living soul in here that had gotten as lost as Maede had? Were they afraid, or hurt? Despite the creeping sensation of fear sending wave after wave of chills up and down her spine, she knew she had to search for the source of the crying, racing off in what she presumed was the right direction, all the while hoping she too would not lose her way while navigating. She had to see if she could lend a paw to help, even if it meant she would get trapped in here.
