Prompt: Soot and Kora. A pair that seemed so unlikely to occur, and yet it did, blossoming into an iconic relationship amongst those of the clan.
Within the clan for many moons, Soot was a chronic flirt. She knew exactly what to say to get a rise out of cats, their ears turning pink and their gazes averting from apparent fluster. Her flirting was a joke most of the time, only meant to confuse cats and distract them from their duties for a time. Soot has always been a relaxed cat, never wanting to take her duties too seriously, and to give other cats of the clan a rest from theirs, even if it was just for a moment.
That was until she laid her eyes upon Kora. Kora was always a serious molly, her gaze locked into whatever task she was currently doing. Whether it be planning the next border patrol or rehearsing speeches for meetings with other clans, Kora was always doing something -- and so, Soot made her mission to give Kora an escape, to relax.
Soot would gradually begin to insert herself into Kora's tasks, often asking to go on patrol with her, or help her with ideas on how to coerce other cats into believing her ideas were best. Along side this, she would still do her seemingly natural flirting. A purr would escape her each time Kora spoke, her tail would caress the molly's shoulder blades, or her voice like honey would compliment the cat, catching Kora off guard.
One time, Soot eventually got fed up. Kora had her nose to the ground in deep thought, when Soot interrupted. She brushed her paw through her work, and forced her on a walk, the two cruising along the Heart of Decay's river bank. The two would stop upon a set of stones, and for the first time in many moons, Kora would lay down, and rest, dozing off quickly. That was the first time Kora ever left behind her duties for something less serious.
From there, Soot and Kora's relationship would blossom. While Kora is still serious and sticks to her work, Soot gives her an escape. She makes sure Kora feeds herself, rests when needed, and makes her have some fun every once in a while. Kora, on the other hand, balances Soot out, reminding her to tend to her duties, while also returning the flirting banter. Eventually, the two grew to realize they were in love, and while Kora's work-life balance still needs work, Soot is helping her however she can to get there. [429 words]
