At first glance, it might seem impossible to think Rune used to be a loner. She's so outgoing, always barking at other dogs and whining when she isn't with someone.
It all started when she was a pup. Back then, Rune saw no sign of life. Her mother deemed her birth and father a mistake and left her when she was able to take care of herself. Having only seen her mother, Rune grew to love the shadows. Any strangers or humans that she saw she would hide from, and when it was daytime she would go down into caves and sleep. She found that the night was better for hiding, so that she could live the rest of her days in blissful silence.
She didn't realize how much of life she was missing until one night, when she was on the edge of starvation, took the risk to fetch food from a house. Since it was night, she didn't think the residents would see her.
Well, they did, and while she was raiding the pantry a light turned on. By then it was too late to escape, and she was taken in by the humans. It took many months for her to even let them pet her, but the hard work they put into her was worth it. Rune saw all the things she had been missing during the day, and how life, the thing she had once resented, was now a special part of her that she cherished.
