There once was a young marumi. This fun-lovin' youngling went on a camping trip with her family. The backpacked deep into the wilderness and got to work setting up camp. As the youngest, this particular marumi didn't have as much to do. They drove the last tent stakes into the ground just as the sun was setting. The family gathered together around the freshly lit campfire to cook and dinner and share stories. During one particular story that the young marumi found boring, she decided to make her own fun. She hoped up, claiming to need to use the bathroom. Her parents reminded her not to wander too far beyond the light of the campfire. She laughed as she agreed, already getting excited about her plan. Her plan was to sneak outside the light, circle around, then quietly approach from the opposite side before jumping out to scare her siblings. It was perfect!

It wasn't a big campsite but she wanted to make sure her family didn't hear her circle around and approach, so she went father outside the camp. because of their late arrival and rushed set-up, no one had had a chance to scope out the area, so it was all unfamiliar to her. She didn't think she had gone far as she began to walk in what she thought was a half-circle to reach the other side of camp. A good chunk of time had passed, and the young one began to feel uneasy. She couldn't see any light from the fire or even smell a waft of smoke. She hadn't meant to go that far after all, but all the trees and bushes began to look the same.
At little panicked now but not willing to give up the surprise just yet, she began to walk faster. Surely, she must be approaching the campfire soon! Any minute now she'd hear her dad's deep grumble, or her siblings laugh. Her poor paws ached and her stomach grumbled but still she walked on, searching for that light.

But the night continued on, and she saw no light.

That little marumi never returned to her campfire.
After a little while, her family had gotten nervous and began calling for her. They called and called and searched all through the night. The next day they got the whole community to search. Weeks went by and the searches slowly dwindled.
That marumi was never seen again...at least not fully fleshed.

Some who camp in those woods claim they've seen her, now with a slightly translucent hue. They say she's drawn to light of the fire. She stuck in limbo, wandering on and on, endlessly searching for her family's campfire. If she spots the crackling glow, she'll come over and sit by the fire. You never hear her approach. You see something out of the corner of your eye and there she sits. But beware! Some claim to have seen friends, family, or even themselves drug off into the night. Once she realizes it's not her family sitting around the flames, she wails in despair. As she rushes off back into the dark, she reaches for whoever is closest to drag them off to join her in her eternal search!

Seared Steak- pan seared steak
Elote campfire corn/Mexican street corn- fire roasted corn on the cob smothered in butter and the perfect blend of cheese and spices
Hot Hot Chocolate- a drink who's consistency is closer to melted chocolate with vanilla, cinnamon, and chili powder added.
S'mores- made with perfectly toasted golden marshmallows, just-beginning-to-melt chocolate, and warm graham crackers
chaotic / neutral / good personality? (optional):Chaotic neutral- Pyre isn't good or bad. She just does their own thing and lets the world figure itself out. They live by the motto- "you never feel more alive than after a brush with death". Honestly, people should be thanking her for making them appreciate being alive.

favorite campire story!: (okay, this is actually more of a prophecy. most think it's a wives tale, or elders simply trying to scare the younger celestials and mortals into submission, so they say it around the campfire as a hehe haha ooooh so scary! this would only apply if i also got this marumi and could use them both for lore purposes. if i don't get that marumi, which would be understandable lmao, this doesn't make much sense - but i hope it's okay that it's more of a prophecy!)

the prophecy of the fiery shadow


this is a tale that has been passed down through generations -- a tale of fire, light, and the uncertainty that shadows may bring, as old as time itself.

long ago, in a land where mortals and celestials intertwined, a prophecy was whispered amongst the stars. the celestial seer, known only as the oracle of dawn, foretold of a great fiery shadow that would one day descend upon the mortal realm.

"the fiery shadow," the oracle declared, "will bring with it a celestial of flames, ignatius by name. his arrival will herald a time of darkness and fear, and only the strength of light and unity will stand against him, though they will not prevail."

the prophecy reached the small village daier resided in and vowed to protect upon being warned of this by her ancestors, though the mortals initially dismissed it as just another story to entertain the young. however, as strange omens began to appear, unseasonable heatwaves - flickers of unusual light, and eerie shadows - the villagers grew uneasy.

the village elder, known for her wisdom, gathered the townsfolk and shared the prophecy with them, urging them to take caution. "we must prepare ourselves; ignatius may indeed come, and his fire culd bring grave danger."

despite the elder's concerns, many villagers remained skeptical. life went on, but the shadow of doubt lingered. they continued their routines, though their eyes often turned to the sky with anxious glances, and daier in the celestial realm kept a closer eye on them than ever before.

one evening, as the villagers sat around their fires, a celestial of the clouds and light descended from the clouds. daier, known for her radient presence, had come to keep a closer eye on the villagers, while offering her help and reassurance. "the prophecy is not merely a tale," she said, "ignatius' arrival could be a threat, but your strength and unity could withstand it."

daier's arrival brought comfort and hope, as well as fear and uneasiness. the villagers prepared themselves, some out of inspiration, others out of fear. they fortified their homes, strengthened their bonds, and held nightly vigils, their fires burning brightly against the encroaching darkness.

but ignatius was relentless. as the days passed, his fiery shadow grew even closer. the sky turned a sinister shade as he unleashed his inferno upon the land. despire daier's light and the villagers' courage, ignatius' flames proved too powerful.

in a dramatic and fiery confrontation, ignatius clashed with daier. the sky lit ablaze with their struggle, but ignatius' flames surged stronger, consuming everything in their path. the once vibrant village was engulfed in a raging firestorm.

as the inferno raged, daier fought bravely to protect the villagers, but the flames were relentless. the village fell to ashes, and the light that had once shone so brightly was extinguished with grief.

in the aftermath, few survivors scattered, carrying with them the tale of their fall. ignatius' victory was complete, but the story of daier's courage and the villagers' unity became a powerful legend; a rather condescending cloud celestial yearning to protect the very mortals she used to hate, destroying herself to protect them.

though the flames had won this battle, the tale of the village lived on as a testemant to the resillience and bravery of those who faced the darkness. it served as a reminder that even in defeat, the spirit of unity and the light within each of us can inspire future generations.

favorite campfire snacks!: i. spicy smores - traditional smores with a spicy kick. with an added hint of heat with a dash of chilli powder or cinnamon to the chocolate.

ii. fire grilled veggie skewers - skewered vegetables marinated in a spicy sauce, grilled over the open flame until charred and delicious.

iii. blazing hot chocolate - rich hot chocolate with a hint of cinnamon and a surprising kick from red pepper flakes, warming and spicy.

iv. charred cheese sticks - bacon-wrapped cheese sticks roasted over the fire until the bacon is crispy and the cheese is melted, giving a smoky, spicy, flavor.

chaotic / neutral / good personality? (optional): if i get lucky enough to snatch up this marumi and this one, ignatius would be a neutral? im thinking lawful evil, so wherever that would land. if i don't manage to grab them both, full chaotic.

favorite campfire story!: helios is more of a storyteller! he loves sharing his latest campfire stories that he made up to his friends around the bright flames. however, he is absolutely terrible at telling them. usually campfire stories are scary, spooky and creepy. however, when helios tells them, he cannot tell a scary story at all.

so far, his favourite is "the mystery in the soil". where a giant worm hides in the floor of a lone marumi's den. let's give helios credit, he's really good at building up suspense, but he is terrible at ending creepy stories! all the time, they end up completely changing the tone of the story, such as this particular ending, where the marumi ends up becoming besties with the worm after encountering them, and they travel to candyland and marvel at unicorns and drink chocolate with marshmallows all day. however, his friends don't mind. they appreciate the wholesome tales for a change when everyone else is done trying to outscare each other.

favorite campfire snacks!: if you couldn't already tell, helios loves all things sweet. chocolate and marshmallows are a beloved campfire classic of his. however, he is very creative with some of the food he brings! some highlights are "jelly-smores," which are smores with melted jellybeans for filling, toffee and marshmallows, and helios's ultimate favourite, candy boats! (banana boats, but with candy. lots of it.) surprisingly, for such a fiery marumi, helios has zero spice tolerance, and never eats any of the hot chips his companions bring, not even the ones with the last spice.

"Rumour says that a cryptid, a monster exists, that targets the young, naïve babyrus.... for when you sit around a campfire, just like this, and hear the story, it sets into hunting mode as it waits to track you down to town...... *kindle takes flashlight and points it to face* HUNTING FOR YOUR TAIL!!!!!!"

*babys marus squeal with fear and hug they're tails*

"Its ruthless; no matter what, it WILL nibble your tail. beware little ones, if you ever hear a rustle in the bushes, quickly followed by the coldest wind, even on the sunniest days..... kiss your tail goodbye..... *thunder and lightning* FOR YOU HAVE ENCOUNTERED THE TAIL NIBBLER!"

back in the olden days of marumi times, the villages were very small, compact... with dark, dark alleyways were monsters were said to lurk....

Miru had been coming home from marumi day care, hopping and dancing: tomorrow they were going to have a field trip! when she got distracted... saw something.. something glowing in a dark alley? Miru went closer... and closer.... until.... She squinted.

The lesson where they'd learned about deep sea creatures flashed in her mind ".....The anglerfish's light emanates from the end of fishing-rod-like extension on its forehead. It uses this surprising adaptation to lure prey out of the dark"

she writhed, thrashing, desperately trying to escape the grasp. it was no use, and soon she stopped. or, more fittingly, something stopped her. her eyes remained wide open as a small ray of sunshine suddenly sliced through the tight space, revealing her captor...


*leans closer to baby marus* a hulking, ghostly mouse with a missing limb, its tail wrappin around Miru with astonishin strength...




*eyes widen and pupils slit*

and all the while....


she was frozen, her movement shut down by needles within the ragged fur of its tail!..."


*baby marus gasp*


"Nobody knows what happened.... but when she came to maru-daycare the next day, the tip of her tail was reportedly "nibbled", seemingly by a rodent of some sort. even Miru herself couldn't remember the incident, or why she was late coming home yesterday... only fuzziness remained of what happened after she left maru-daycare..."


a marubaby is crying at this point, because the story is SO FRICKIN TERRIFYING!


everyone else starts crying to, because if theres one thing marubabys like to do is cry in complete and utter unison and make everyone around them uncomfortable..
