when lloyd showed up to work this morning, he was greeted by an embarrassingly large and gaudy banner hung on the far wall of their tiny office

it read (in mismatched cutout letters that were patched as they were lost), complete with the goofiest-looking ID photo matching the one on his badge.
seriously. his scowling face looked like he really needed a moment on the corporate porcelain throne. that, or...
"or what?" he heard gertrude purr snidely.
yep, it was definitely gertrude.
lloyd quickly made himself his morning coffee and purposely downed it piping hot, rather than warm as usual.

--- that afternoon.

this is bad. this is very bad.

as if his luck weren't already bad enough, this month the office chose (unwisely) to celebrate the employee of the month at koldstone- a sentiment felt only by lloyd because it was so hot out that the ground visibly radiated heat. today his coworkers' eyes would be on him, and there'd be no getting out of the celebrations...or the ice cream.
lloyd made a mental note to slack off more during the summer months in the future.

because when he eats ice cream, his brain fires invisible rockets to the roof of his skull
and when he blanks out...

"wow~! seriously? this guy's eating plain vanilla ice cream at koldstone? have some class" he heard his own voice scorn
'lloyd' scowled at one of the interns, who froze with a spoonful of ice cream in his mouth and looked up with a wounded expression
in the back of his own mind, lloyd mentally groaned

gertrude didn't pay attention to him. 'he' was too busy running his mouth at future lloyd's expense.

but at least his suffering was brief this time- he'd ordered the smallest option available. soon the ice cream cup was empty, and the throbbing in his temple faded. lloyd came back to his own body being scorched by his coworkers' stares and an ice cream shop worker doing her very best to keep a professional straight face.

there he was, standing in the middle of a koldstone shop. employee of the month (yay...), complete with a demonic best friend(questionable) living in his brain.

gertrude stretched lazily in the back of his mental theater, nonchalant after bombing the scene before him.
tsk, tsk. order something else next time, you boring old man

im no cake connoisseur, but i came to raise ice cream cake to your molten lava cake in the battle for supremacy :D
im apparently a big fan of things destructive to health and cold + sweet are pretty much top of the list, so of course i'd like the type of cake that is both lmAO
frosting tastes better the colder it is too imo, especially the lighter type that ends up melting when it's warm
