Fire and Thorn grew up together, in a poorer part of the capital. It wasn't quite so poor as the slums, but they often had patches on their clothes and holes in their shoes. When their mama core manifested at the same time, they ran around in cat form making trouble all over the place or sometimes just sneaking out at night to look at the stars together.

Everyone knew they'd end up together and they were certainly childhood sweethearts, even though they never acknowledged any change in their friendship. They were simply them, nothing special.

When they reached adulthood, they both applied to be knights at the same time. Thorn was quickly recognized and moved her way up the ranks, even receiving honorary nobility, while Fire was still a low-ranking knight. Fire didn't mind though, he liked having fewer responsibilities and getting to work under Thorn and he was happy for her success. However, being superior and subordinate, they were unable to pursue a romantic relationship as they began to recognize their feelings for each other as more than just friends.

The pair began to date in secret and eventually married under the blessing of a tight-lipped priest by using the Marriage of the Gods, a form of marriage that cannot be revoked or annulled by any means unless it becomes unhealthy for one or both of the participants. Even if they were found out, they could not be forced apart and Thorn and Fire were too good at their jobs to be kicked out.

Kinan stared blankly at the cauldron. It was missing something. What was it? it was bubbling and boiling in it's usual manner, swirling of many different colors, and giving off a strange aroma. To be honest the young feline didn't really remember what he was doing at the cauldron, but felt that whatever it was it had to be important. With that thought in mind, the shimmering orange coat found itself digging amongst itself for herbs stuck between. From random thyme to the dangerous lily. Yes a dangerous plant like a lily would be a good addition to any component.

Soon enough, as he dropped the plant into the mixture it popped and burbled. It was a sight to seen with the colors and fumes abrupting. Possibly unsafe, but this didn't seem to stop him from peering over the edge. He then heard a familiar call.

"Dinner!"

It was his girl. GoatHeart had always been there for him. Keeping him from to much trouble, and even assisting him in many matters. More helpful then that dasterdly bird that wouldn't leave him alone to do his work. Luckily he had kept the Owl attended with Goat's friend, a baby goat. With the call at his heels he hurried a holed lid over the top of the mixture and rushed away, unsure what would happen to the concoction, but it didn't matter because he would probably forget about it either way. What did it taste like?

Before he could find himself drinking the extremely bad idea, a beautiful molly came to him with freshly caught fish. Wow does she know how to please him. She was drenched from the river, and smelled of it heavily so. It was romantic to him. She caught him without him even realizing it, and they would spend the rest of the afternoon enjoying each-other's company.

Thorn paced the floor of their cabin fretfully, the steps of the healer leaving echoing in her head despite having long faded away. Fire was due to return any minute now and she knew he'd be overjoyed at the news, but she couldn't help but worry.

There was no way for them to hide this, not for long anyways because she'd have to take leave from the Order to reduce the strain on her body and lower her stress levels, most likely before her condition would even be visible. The higher ups would ask questions and it wouldn't take them too long to learn that Thorn and Fire had gotten married in secret. Of course, they were prepared for the eventuality of being found out, but not so soon.

Footsteps, out of time from the ones in her head, told her that her husband had arrived. She no longer needed to stress about this on her own. Surely, everything would turn out fine, like it always had. She apologized to the child in her stomach for thinking so negatively of them and turned to face the door with a smile.

Fire opened the door and stepped through. "Hi sweetheart, what did the healer say? A stomach bug like we thought?"

Thorn shook her head and her grin widened involuntarily. "Nope!" She let him process that for a second as his face slid into confusion. "I'm pregnant!"

Joy swept across his face and it threatened to split in half from the grin he made. He ran over and scooped her up, swinging her around in a circle. "I'm gonna be a father!" He crowed for all the world to hear, tears of happiness streaming down his cheeks as he set his wife down. He buried his face in her dress, mumbling how much he loved her and their new child. She hugged him tight.

Meeting his small fling after a few moons, only for them to tell him they're expecting kits is not how Red Robin expected the surprise visit from Tawnystar to go. He was both shocked and confused, not exactly sure how to respond. His confusion and shock turned to joy, though, at the prospect of having kits. He smiled and jumped around Tawnystar excitedly. Tawnystar smiled at Red Robin's enthusiasm, glad that his reaction was positive.

"When are they due?! He asked, unable to hold in his excitement.

"I only just found out a few weeks ago, calm down!" She answered giddily. She was excited to have kits, and excited that Red Robin was also excited. "But we can't go to your home, Roo... We have to stay with the clan." He knew it was not his intention to hurt Red Robin by saying it, but as a warning that he might not see them all the time. Though, he was not expecting Red Robin's response.

"Then I'll move in with the clan. Right? I can do that?"

Tawnystar blinked back his surprise. "But why would you leave somewhere that comfortable...?". His head tilted as she listened for his answer.

"Because I want to be there for them. Every moment of their lives, I want to be there." His response was honest. He really did want to leave his comfortable life with the twolegs just to be with Tawnystar and the kits.

Cauliflower hated late nights at the medicine cat den recently. She was always so busy looking after her 5 children, she felt like she had little time to herself. She wouldn't even want things to change however. While it was difficult it was something she took very seriously. She loved the ever growing family she had with Tansy, more than anything. Even her free time.
When Patrol came back that night with a pregnant outsider they took her straight to Cauliflower, hoping she could help.
Unfortunatley, whatever happened to her before she got here had put too much strain on her body, and she ended up not making it.

"Tansy, I know we have our hands full but-"
"Out of the question, Cauli! You already spread yourself so thin....let someone else take on the burden."
"Burden? Those children are not a burden! How could you say something like that?"
Tansy immediately regret the way that had come out, her ears folding back as her lover shot her a look of pain and desperation.

"You know they would be in good hands with us, Tansy! Please let's take them in, Like we did with our little Squirrel."
"Cauli....I don't know, ok? Couldn't...ugh" Tansy sighed, not having the energy this night to argue with her lover.
"We'll talk about this in the morning. Okay?"

The next morning as Tansy rose from her sleep to begin her duties for the day she came intot he medicine den not expecting to see Cauli peacefully asleep, with two little bundles of fur curled tightly up against her. She knew Cauli had a big heart, and if she could she would take in just about any kitten, how could she deny her?
"Damnit Cauli.....How can I say no to that now?"
Tansy moved over and nuzzled her lover awake gently, careful to not wake the sleeping kittens buried in her furr.
"I guess we'll add them to our little army."
Tansy was just too weak to say no to her wife. The kittens being cute was just a bonus.

Calloway peered down at the kitten that sat besides them ontop of the pile of wood near the Ivy Hollow cottage's shed. The kitten would be ready for an apprenticeship soon and Calloway was eager to see them take strides to determine the placement they were given. As the leader's kitten there would be a lot of pressure to succeed, so Calloway was cautious of placing the kitten on the wrong role where they wouldn't excel.
"Child, what do you see yourself doing when you are older?" The adult cat asked.
The kitten twiddled their toes before nervously glancing up to their parent, "I'd really like to do something with herbs and flowers. Um, I know that's probably not what you'd like me to do."
Calloway licked their kitten between their ears, "I just want you to be happy." The kitten appeared to grow with confidence, sitting straight besides their parent as they spoke, "So, what are you thinking Gatherer or Medicine Cat?"
The kitten considered, "Either! I think I'd want to strive to be the council member for the gatherers if I was to go down thag path."
Calloway grinned, "That's ambitious of you, little one." They wrapped their tail around their kitten, "I would be proud to have you on my council or as the clan medicine cat."
"How will my spot be picked?"
"Well, little one. I would suggest trying to help out the current medicine cat and the gatherers in the gardens. You'll be able to see whether you enjoy tending the gardens, maybe learn to wrap basic wounds and make some friends while you're at it." Calloway nudged the kitten, "Then in a couple of moons, I will discuss your placements with the medicine cat and the council. One of them may be especially eager to take you on."
The kitten looked excited at the thought and quickly stood.
"Where are you going?" Calloway asked.
The kitten smiled, "I am heading to the gardens." They quickly hopped their way down the wood and ran towards the gardens.
Calloway smiled proudly.
