Chicoon being used:
CJBooth Name: Goose's Arcade
Prompt: [392 words]
CJ's definitely used to being stepped on in the arcade now. If he lets his tail drag or his legs stick out too far while sitting, his funky feathers blend right in with the classic arcade flooring. Chicoons just can't see him that well in there, and that's fine. He honked the first couple times it happened, but now he expects it. One poor kid tried to give him tickets as an apology, but CJ assured him it was fine.
He's been working hard to get better at the reaction time buzzer game, and he's definitely been using his wings. Anything goes to get that high score! He has a few smaller chicoons who like to watch him play, their eyes sparkling as he smacks the light up buttons in rapid succession. Don't tell anyone, but he definitely head-butted one of the buzzers while in the heat of the moment, and is glad that his blue coat hides the bruise pretty well.
The prize he's after is the coveted glow sticks. Those bad boys are the heavy duty ones, the ones that glow for like almost a week! With Halloween practically around the corner, CJ wants those glow sticks so he can make one of those glow in the dark skeleton costumes. And with the good sticks, he can wear it to parties and stuff the nights before the actual holiday. Of course, all that depends on if he can get enough tickets to get the glow sticks in the first place. And he probably is going to need more than just one bag of them... Hm, time to buckle down on that buzzer game.
CJ slots a coin into the game and bounces on his paws, light on his feet and getting in the zone. The game counts down and starts with a loud buzz. He focuses on the board, slapping at every light up button that comes on. Left, left, up, right, down, right, up, left. Paw, wing, paw, paw, tail, wing, paw, paw. He can feel his heart race as the music and lights speed up, going at an insane speed as the time begins to run out. He hears chicoons hollering and honking for him as he plays, but he's focussed solely on the targets. Gotta get the lights, gotta get the tickets, gotta get those glow sticks!
Booth Name: Pops' Fishing Hole
Prompt: [368 words]
The second CJ walked past the fishing booth, he knew exactly what he wanted. That gorgeous orange coloring, those delicate fins, those enormous eyes. CJ wanted- no, NEEDED to win a goldfish. After all, goldfish are like, the staple carnival prize. He trotted up to Pops and slid his tokens over.
Pops let CJ pick out a plastic fishing rod, a lure, and showed him how the pool worked. The thing was huge, and the water had a bit of movement to it. Plush prizes floated around in the water, and little fish darted in between the plush. It was easy for the hook to get stuck on a plush, but with some effort, it was possible to gently evade the plush and lure one of the live fish over to the hook. CJ gently cast his line into the pool, flapping happily when his lure landed in the empty space that he'd been aiming for.
The waiting was the worst part. Fish swam close to the lure, but they weren't goldfish like CJ wanted. He tensed up and waited as they investigated but ultimately rejected his lure. He held his breath when plush drifted too close for comfort, carefully pulling his line out of their path to avoid hooking them. It was while he was pulling off one of these evasive maneuvers that a goldfish noticed his feathery lure bobbing in the water.
CJ didn't notice the fish at first, he was so focused on getting away from the plush unicorn. But once it was safely away, he scanned the water and noticed that goofy-eyed little guy eyeing his lure. He inhaled excitedly. "Yes, yes, come on little guy, come to papa,"
"Need somethin'?" Pops asked, thinking he'd heard his name.
"No, sorry, talking to a fish," CJ explained, his eyes locked on the goldie. Pops nodded solemnly, understanding the situation. He watched as the fish came closer, closer, clooooserrrrr to CJ's line... "YES!" CJ reeled his line in and showed Pops his goldfish. "I did it!!"
"Onya, kid! Lemme bag 'er up for you." Pops handed CJ his new friend and CJ accepted the bag delicately, though his wings were twitching with excitement. New friend accquired!
Booth Name: Bumper Karts
Prompt: [399 words]
CJ liked Carbon as soon as he heard her calling out about the karts.
"Come on folks, it's time to show 'em who's boss!" they called to the crowd, looking thrilled about the ride they managed, and not bored like SOME chicoons,
Slush Puppy. Carbon seemed to genuinely be passionate about the karts, which intrigued CJ. They must be good.
Some were a little rough around the edges, and some were definitely crowd favorites, but all the karts raced by with exhilarating speed and style. Did that kart just drift?! Ok, CJ definitely wanted in now. He joined the queue and observed the karts, making mental notes about each one.
#1 was probably the fastest, but it looked hard to control. Whether that was due to mechanics or the drivers not knowing how to handle the speed was hard to tell just by watching.
#2 had a new coat of paint, and seemed to handle well. It looked as if it had just been bought, perhaps to replace an old kart. Not many miles on it most likely, good to know.
#3 had a custom paint job and attracted the littler chicoons like flies. It would be super cool to drive, but CJ didn't feel like shoving past kids just to drive the kart with unicorns and hotrod flames.
#4 was a tank. It was slower, but it rammed into the other karts like a rhino, and took bumps from others without hardly scooting.
#5, the last kart, was super beat up. It would probably be the next kart to be replaced. It looked like it was a little slower than the others, but reacted perfectly to its drivers' steering. It wove in and out of the chaos, zipping away from bumps and railings like the experienced kart it was.
CJ opted for kart #1. It was a speedster, and CJ loved that. He was willing to risk the control if it meant he could fly around the others kicking up metaphorical dust. When it was his turn to join the fun, he dashed to the bright green kart and jumped right in. He fastened his seatbelt and readied himself. Carbons voice came over the speakers.
"Alrighty folks, get ready to start your engines in three... two... one... GO!"
CJ floored it as the music, a Tokyo Drift remix, began to play.
Let's see how this baby really handles!
