Good Morning class, and welcome to Astronomy 101: Community! I am Professor Biolum; to start things off we are going to delve into a bit of history - don't groan it's worth it I swear! In order to understand the origins of chicoon constellations and their documentation, we have to start at the beginning! Please pull up pages 10 and 13 from either the physical handouts or online files and we will get started.

To get right into it, this class is going to focus on constellations and how they are integrated into chicoon culture and community. There is a large subset of Chicoons that don't follow the human constellations, either due to lack of proximity to humans through the generations or simply because of natural differences between our species. Stars for us are more meaningful in the moment, rather than based in legend, and will vary from chicoon to chicoon, and even community to community as stories are passed around our flames. Constellations come and go in waves, and most are lost to time.

Art/Writing: Druid points their paw up to the night sky, tracing a pattern in the stars that was vaguely shaped like a tree. This chicoon was mute, but relayed their story through sign language. 'I first saw this tree of stars when I was but a young whelp. It was upon sighting it that I found myself truly connected with nature for the first time. Ever since that day, I have been enveloped in the sweet embrace of Nature herself. As I grow older, I find this constellation accumulates new stars.' It already had quite a few in it. Druid was pretty old!

Art/Writing: Sara enthusiastically points at a cluster of stars that seem to form the shape of a knife. "That one is one of my favorites!" Sara smiles brightly, apparently not seeing anything unusual about her choice. They go on to explain after noticing a few confused looks. "I noticed it after a session of playing Among Us with some of my friends! We all had a great time playing together, we have so many inside jokes because of it! When we finished playing, we all went to a cafe together for a snack, and on the way back from the cafe we happened to look up at the sky since it was getting pretty late, and there it was! During the games we were telling a lot of knife puns, so when I pointed it out to the group, we all thought it was hilarious- and also really cool. Now whenever I see this constellation, it reminds me of my friends!"

Art/Writing: Dahlia wraps up in her scarf and draws in a breath, her exposed ribs expanding with chilly air ... somehow. Inhaling wrong, she coughs up petals as she points to the night sky, drawing a unique shape of a flower in stars that matches those on and in her body. Her goddess symbol from an age ago. Now she was an astronomy major in college. Weird how things play out.

Cuddles smiled gently as they tilt their head, "The first Constellation I found was when I was quite young. All I wanted was a friend, but I was too shy to make any, until I looked up and saw a small round object I initially thought was a rock though it was moving. He came right up to me with a smile." Cuddles says endearingly referring to their cococat, Loofa. "My first friend, of course I'd keep it in the stars."
