The first time Raf saw a wax sculpture it was a small rendering of a cat his owner had made using a mold. For some strange reason, his first instinct was to lick it. Even though it did not taste good, watching his human get better at making sculptures has inspired him. His first piece was a print of his paw pad, pressing his foot into a flat slab while his owner wasn't watching. She was worried about burns but Raf was fine and very pleased with himself.

Candelilla loves wax although it can quite annoying getting it stuck in your fur. Candelilla snuck into his owner's workshop one day to explore all the interesting smells and shapes in there. He knew his owner put something waxy on his paws in winter so he figured it would be similar to that. He quickly learned wax can be many different textures and temperatures. His owner walked in to a complete mess and stood in shock for so long Candelilla started to get worried. The wax was...everywhere. The owner eventually erupted into laughter and began cleaning up, thankful that her dog hadn't had access to any of the heated wax. Candelilla began accompanying his owner and learned of many different wax art forms. He loved his owners encaustic wax paintings and sniffing the scented candles but loved molding and carving soft wax himself. It's not uncommon to see Candelilla with bits of wax stuck in his coat. Some say he permanently has a waxy sheen nowadays.
