Icus can’t hear very well, mostly only picking up very muffled sounds. His vision is fine though, and he taught himself to read lips, as well as how to communicate in sign language (his family/my other chicoons also learned). He’s been nearly deaf since he was born, so he doesn’t mind it that much. His vocal chords are fine, but he can’t hear the right way to say the words, so it’s usually a little difficult to understand him when he speaks.

One thing he loves is the sense of touch. He really enjoys feeling the beat of his heart inside him. It’s always soothing to him, and it has been so since as long as he can remember. He can feel the vibrations of a truck passing by his house, or of the heavy metal Rumi listens to. He also loves hugs! He can feel the other chicoon’s heartbeat if they hug him, and it makes him happy.

Icus loves to go on walks and see everything around him. If he could choose between his sight or hearing, he’d choose sight. “You can’t miss it if you don’t have it!”, as he says when talking about his disability to others. To him, it’s more like an ability. For example, he can’t hear Rumi and Kippy’s nonstop bickering!

Icus raises awareness for his disability by simply showing others that he can do things! He wears a badge with the disability awareness flag and proudly answers any questions he gets about him, his disability, and how it affects his life. He’s not at all shy when it comes to talking about it!

#2 had no completed forms, so they'll be coming home with me! It feels important that I give a little blurb about them to match everyone else's effort, so... they will be named Frideswide! Frideswide was in a climbing accident as a whelp that left them with a TBI. The injury affected their balance, so they also use a cane as a mobility aid. They struggle a lot with brain fog and communication, especially early on, so have decided to take life slow. As long as everything gets done, there's no need to rush! Right now Frideswide is studying to become a therapist with their mentor, Yolk :)

#3 also had no completed forms. I may run a re-adoption contest for this Chicoon, we'll see!

I absolutely love the names Iris and Poppy! The art piece you made of them is adorable and delightful, and I'm excited to know that the two of them will be going to a great home <3
