Continue to try and fix the ride!!

It was a new day, a new chance to try and get this ride up and running again. This thought gave a sense of newfound determination to Korbl as he set out to work on the ride once again. As he headed to the little shed to grab the tools he over heard two Chicoons talking nearby. Not wanting to eaves drop into someone's conversation, he kept quiet and went about his task...he still had a ride to fix after all!

After double checking he had everything he needed, Korbl nodded and grabbed the tool box. Trotting over towards the broken ride, he gently sets down the tools and gets to work on fixing up some dented spots. This keeps him pretty busy for a while, about two hours later he pauses what he is doing as he hears footsteps approaching, not large ones...rather, little pitter patters. Korbl turned around to see a little rock standing there, smiling up at him. They held a bag of bolts and screws as they held it out for him to take.

"Awww, thanks Okko! I thought I forgot something." Korbl smiled and took the bag from his companion, as he set the bag down beside the tool box an idea came to mind. "Hey," Korbl chirped, "wanna help me fix this ride? I was told to get it up and running but still can't seem to fix it...maybe if we both work together, we can figure it out! What do you say?" He spoke to Okko with an extended hand, a kind smile on his face. The rock didn't hesitate and leaped up onto Korbl's hand, seeming to accept his request to help!

"Thank you so much, my friend!" Korbl honked happily as he turned his gaze to the ride, Okko doing the same. "Now let's fix this thing...together! Or at least try to, yeah!!"

Muddi sighed and decided he would continue to try and fix the ride. He stumbled over to the mechanical pieces and crouched down, wrench in hand. It looked so complicated...

Forest feels really uneasy, what were they supposed to do? To be honest they never had experience in fixing any vehicles, let alone an entire roller coaster! Forest isn’t sure how on earth the other chicoons didn’t catch on that they were the wrong individual yet, it’s been more than two days and they made no progress due to the fact they do not know what they’re doing. Forest continues to just mindlessly screw and unscrew random things since it’s the only thing they know to do at this point.

Forest was expecting to spend a day playing games, winning prizes, and eating various carnival snacks, what Forest did NOT expect however, was essentially being stuck here for a week and having to fix a ride that they have absolutely no experience or the qualifications to. Forest begins to contemplate their life decisions, already 3 days in and they fear what consequences they would face if they were to back out and come clean now. They basically trespassed into an area they’re definitely not supposed to be, got whisked into a job that was not for them, and now they’re under the the pressure of having to fix an entire ride while having no experience and no idea what they’re doing, and now they have no options but to continue playing along.

Evergreen reconnects the wires for the fifty third time, and tries pressing the button that by now they think is probably the on button. Still nothing. Just as they are trying to recall which orders of wires they have already tried to decide on their next attempt, Evergreen overhears a familiar voice speaking. They glance over and spot the Chicoon who had led them over to the ride in the first place, who is speaking with Ripsaw. It seems like the two are trying to whisper, but Evergreen is perfectly capable of hearing what they are saying if they concentrate on listening, so they decide to eavesdrop. Maybe they will learn something about the ride that might help them determine how to fix it.
Evergreen feels bad, and a bit sad, when they hear what Ripsaw says about how long it is taking them to fix the ride. Though it is true that this is taking them much longer to figure out than they had hoped, Evergreen is trying their best and they do not have much knowledge about repairing things to base their efforts on. At least the other Chicoon spoke up for them, reminding Ripsaw that Evergreen is doing their best. Evergreen feels a bit better after that, and regains their determination to keep trying to fix the ride. They start reconnecting wires again as the two Chicoons discuss finding something to do in the meantime. Hopefully, by the time they get back, Evergreen will have been able to fix the ride and everything will be fine!
Upon finishing with the wires, Evergreen presses the button again, and to their surprise, the lights on the control panel flicker on! They got the wires in the right order! Unfortunately, the ride itself still did not seem to do anything. So, that must not be the only problem... Evergreen sighs and approaches the ride, examining the machinery to see if they could find anything wrong with it. The issue was, Evergreen had never ridden one of these rides before, so they have no idea whether they would even notice if there was something visibly wrong with it, unless it was something super obvious. Still, they want to do everything they can to help, so they are going to try anyway! Even after what they consider a pretty thorough examination, Evergreen had yet to spot anything they thought might be messed up, and they were hesitant to start pulling the entire ride apart without having directions for how to put it back together. Maybe they should ask someone who knows more about these kinds of rides if they see anything wrong with it? Now was probably the best opportunity to do so, considering Ripsaw and Eon are not around to see it.
So, Evergreen watches a few groups of Chicoons pass by, though none seem to spare the broken down ride much of a glance. Until one lone Chicoon walks over. "Hey, do you know when the ride will be ready again?" the Chicoon asks.
Evergreen figures this Chicoon must enjoy the ride if they are asking when it would be fixed, so they decide to ask for their help. "Well, I am trying to figure out what is wrong with it. Do you see any issues I might have missed?"
The Chicoon examines the ride carefully. "Well, it looks like one of the bars fell out of place, maybe it is stopping the ride from moving?"
Evergreen looks at the bar the Chicoon is indicating. Oh. Now that they are looking at it more carefully, it does in fact seem to be in a rather unexpected place. "Thank you! I will do my best to get this fixed up as soon as possible!" Evergreen says gratefully, and the Chicoon nods and walks off. Evergreen proceeds to grab the bar and try to move it, but it does not budge. Uh oh, this thing is heavier than it looks...
Despite everything,

Jason finds himself back again at the broken rides. He's not really sure how someone looked at him and thought that he was the kind of guy who could fix this stuff, but here he was. Hitting it didn't do much to fix anything, though. So he decided to check the tools. In the box there were a bunch of screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters, the works. He guessed he should try opening one of the panels on the machine first - see what it looks like inside. So he grabbed a wrench, and used it to unscrew the bolts holding the large panel. Setting it aside, he peered inside.

It was dark in the machine, but occasionally everything was briefly lit by sparks of electricity from broken wires. There also seemed to be some rusted and missing gears. Jason wouldn't have the things to fix that, but he could probably point it out to one of the Chicoons who actually worked at this place. The wires though, that was probably something he could do. He wasn't afraid of electric shocks, he'd been exposed to worse, so that probably wasn't much of a concern. All the same, though, it'd probably be a good idea to see if he could turn the machinery off first. Looking around, though, he didn't see any sort of obvious control mechanism. So it that probably wouldn't be possible.

He grabbed a roll of electrical tape and got to work fixing the wires. The first pair he grabbed were insulated with black colored rubber. Jason touched the two ends together, and they sparked. Despite this, he figured that surely the same color wires must pair together. So he held the two ends together with his back feet, only having one arm to work with. Then he taped the frayed ends back together. The next few pairs of wires - red, blue, and green - were taken care of in a similar manner. After this, though, there was still a single yellow wire left sparking on its own. He couldn't see a match for it, nor was there anything that resembled something the wire might connect to. So Jason just decided to yank it out. It couldn't be that important right?

With that done, Jason looked again at the rusty gears and the gaps where there were gears missing. What would he do about that..? If he had some paper and a pen or something else to write with he could leave a note about the gears for someone else. There wasn't anything like that though, and the other two Chicoons he had seen had long since left. Maybe he'll just have to see what he can find elsewhere to fix this problem. Surely there would be something around here that would be useful, right? Or maybe he could find someone more qualified to fix this and drag them back to put them to work. He wasn't even really sure why he was going along with this entire thing and trying to fix this! It really wasn't his problem or his job. Usually he's the one causing this sort of issue.

Honeydew decided to...
stop at look at first. They felt bad eaves dropping but they WERE the one being talked about so they felt it was less "wrong". Once the two chicoons wandered off, Honeydew looked towards the ride again. They then looked down at their poor paw that they had zapped the day before. After a huff and flapping their wings for a moment they stiffened up and approached the ride once more. They put their paw in the hole they had the day before but this time being far more cautious. They felt around the walls before finding their way towards a cord. They felt around it and found a few more all plugged in to a panel. They held their breath while tugging on one of the cords. With a pop (and a surprised squeak from honeydew) the cord seemed to unplug. They pulled a bit of the cord through the hole to catch a glimpse of it. They noticed the cord was colored a bright red hue. They set the cord down gently before reaching back into the hole and tugging on another cord. Once that one came out they tugged on a third, however that one wouldn't seem to budge. They pulled the second cord out and noticed this one was colored blue. They peaked their eye through the hole, and while it was pretty dark inside the ride, they spotted the two outlets that must have housed the cords. There were multiple other cords still plugged in, but they appeared rusted and Honeydew knew these would need more work. They made note of the placement of the two outlets that the cords they unplugged had come out of. After pulling their head back from the hole, they grabbed the blue cord. They noticed that when unplugging it, it must've been plugged into the hole on the left. They decided to then plug it into the hole on the right. While nothing seemed to have happened, Honeydew felt a twinge of pride in having accomplished more than the previous day. They then took the red cord and plugged it into the other hole. Out of the corner of their eye they spotted a flickering. One of the light bulbs on the ride was flashing, though not much else seemed to be happening. After a moment of pride, Honeydew heard others approaching. In panic they took off, planning to come back later.

Since that obviously didn't work Arlo just huffs. He's at a total loss. "I'M NOT A MECHANIC!" He screeches inside his head to nobody in particular. He doesn't know what he's suppose to do. He came here to ride the ride not fix it! How has the responsibility of repairing a downed ride fallen onto the Chicoons coming here to just let loose and have fun? How is there no official mechanic here to help if something goes wrong? He finds the whole ordeal to be highly unprofessional. He has so many questions that he's most likely not going to get the answers to. Arlo honks with tears of frustration and fear while pulling on his wings. The only thing he does know how to do involving tools is swinging a hammer and screw in screws! But if he does that he's sure he'd just break things even more... He just decides to wait and desperately hope someone will come to help him. What is he suppose to do? He doesn't want to be the one to blame if things go worse than they already are by trying to help with something he knows nothing about or has no experience in.

Vexell tapped their chin in thought. They wondered if perchance there was something wrong with the electrical circuitry on the ride or in the control box. However, not knowing how to fix something like that, they decided to take a course on wiring that was being held at the local technical school, luckily that very same day. After several hours of studying and testing their abilities on the trial wires, they felt confident enough in their abilities. They returned to the carnival, ready to try to fix the ride again. They found what they needed and gave it their best attempt. Hopefully today was the day the ride would be fixed.

ladybug sets down the toolbox, and stares down at it awkwardly. surely the mechanic would come, take on the job, fix the ride, and he could go back to running around playing all of his silly little carnival games. though, at this point, that didn't really seem like a realistic possibility.
he begins to rummage around in the toolbox, pulling out a wrench. maybe,, the nuts and bolts needed tightening? getting to his feet, ladybug begun to check every single nook and cranny on the ride, going through all of them with the wrench. but as he sat back down next to the toolbox, he was left dumbfounded. everything was fine, so obviously he needed to try something else. so, rather than just paying attention to anything that could be fixed with a wrench, ladybug circled the ride multiple times, trying to find the issue. round, round, and round, he still couldn't find anything. it was probably because he wasn't a certified mechanic, and just a random chicoon trying to have fun at the carnival. fed up with the job he'd been thrown into against his will, he balled up his fists, gave a good kick to the ride, (while doing so, also effectively managed hurt his foot) and stomped off. he was going to find those chicoons and tell 'em what's up. whaat? to tell them he wasn't the maintenance worker they were looking for?? of course not! if he was planning to come back and use this ride, he'd have to take matters into his own hands. by doing something he was absolutely not obligated to, and also not supposed to do. ladybug would have to get the chicoons to tell him the issue with the ride without them noticing he wasn't the maintenance worker. it was his problem to deal with now.
