i understand that there's probably a few issues with the site, but, in my wholehearted opinion, the site is community-run. it's community-based. we can join the discord for daily interactions with random community members, which is definitely new to me as i just joined the discord a few days ago. we can play random forum games to interact with random community members. if you really want to, you can exchange discords and make friends with each other outside of CS.
-snip-

I just want to put in my two cents here -- as long as Tess and Nick are selling c$, its not community-run. They are making money off of this game, they raised the prices in the c$ store (which is the only way to obtain anything of value on this website as a new member) and put absolutely 0 effort into hearing us out and making changes to the website.

^^ i get this <3 i mean i think the essence and the guts of this site are to be community-run, meaning that the reason i personally love this site is because of the community, and that the community hugely outweighs the activity / inactivity of the staff.

also, about the inflation and tess & nick "lining their pockets", it takes quite a bit of money to run a server for an adoptable website, especially of this size. we don't know how much they truly profit. i don't think it's really fair to say that tess and nick are hugely profiting, because we don't know the costs of keeping moderators, and keeping the servers alive <3

Animall wrote:The issue is that this game is so impossible to progress in, boring as hell (in terms of lack of changes/predictable events/low value monthly adopts/etc), expensive, and over-moderated, that new members have no reason to stay.

there's a lot of "free pets" and "quitting" posts here and there to help new members progress, and yes it takes time to progress, obviously, but it definitely is possible. there's a lot of free items / pets each month, and events every once in a while, that you could trade bulk for quality. there's plenty of people who prefer quantity over quality :> especially hoarders !! also, just making a note that i haven't put any irl money towards chicken smoothie.

i don't see chicken smoothie as boring at all, personally, because i probably spend 80% of my freetime on it, haha! but i also trade pretty frequently and am constantly adding pets to my hoards, which have kept a little spark alive.

i don't know what else to say here, but i hope i don't come off as short or rude! i love this site, and i think it's fair to want to defend it ^^'

of course, I think it's good to want to defend CS. but I also think that everyone here who has discussed their personal ideas, frustrations, and efforts is also defending CS, albeit in a different way. I don't think this thread would be 193 pages long if people didn't love CS & weren't interested in keeping it.

I just want to ensure, things are coming of this.

It may not be everything and it may not be right away but some of the smaller things that can be done have been seen, have been thought about, have been discussed.

I've started a suggestions thread specifically for the CS Instagram, where we can get CS out there and try to bring more people into the community, where we can post event start and end reminders, (it may not be Email but if you get post notifications, it'll be just as good), where we can interact and get ideas from other petsites, where we can work to bring staff and CS users together in a more personal, engaging way. It's a few of the many many suggestions on the spreadsheet but it's something.

I'm trying to think of other things on the spreadsheet that a GH could do because I really want to see progress being made.

Thanks Odd! I still think it's important for Tess and Nick to be coming in themselves for things like this and making a comment or two to let us know what's going on (or not going on). But I really appreciate this info!

I can't discuss specifics so keeping it as vague as possible, but things from here have come up in casual staff chats and have been discussed with CS administration. The instagram link on the homepage for example was discussed by staff with an admin involved who clarified ideas and asked questions, who then said the request would be passed to Nick for consideration. No promises unfortunately, but better visibility to the people who need to see it. I can't speak for the official CS staff chat where things are actually planned and organized as I'm not actual staff, so I have no idea if anything has been discussed there.

Admittedly I've been focussing most of my extra time working towards getting the Wiki updated recently which I know isn't particularly something on the spreadsheet but it's something a lot of people ask to be updated. Suggestions like stamps I might be able to try putting together to submit for approval, but again, no promises.

Edit: Feed the campers has been put into the archives to be playable at least for now. This is more proof that they are at least trying to listen to what people want. May not be this thread specifically but the community as a whole

Thanks for all of this, this is encouraging to hear, and I know I appreciate you taking the time to explain what levels you're aware of and what people are able to work on or not depending on their roles. ^_^

Oh, okay. I was honestly confused because a lot of the Free Adoptions have people that are just quitting. I pushed it away and thought that people just regularly quit, but now that I've read this I see a lot more now. I also had this feeling that something was wrong with the site, because whenever I look at people's join dates they are almost always from 2016 or under. I don't go to Site Suggestions a lot, but when I saw this on the "latest posts" thing I immediately clicked on this. Thank you for showing me this issue.

after following this thread and cs as a whole for almost a full decade now, i think its time i say goodbye.
the ONLY people who have any kind of "higher say" are general helpers and mods, who in the end dont have a final say. it's disappointing. the LEAST nick and tess could do is make a quick announcement like "hey! we know some of you are frustrated with certain things at the moment. we are currently reviewing all your suggestions and will make further announcements soon."
that would at least be something. but no.
      they gave up.
and honestly, i am too. im tired of coming back to defend a site that doesnt care about half of its userbase. i know i sound harsh, maybe staff might yell at me, but so be it. im quitting anyway.
@ most mods: thanks for trying to help, doing what you can. i know its not easy.
@ most users: thanks for being kind even when others werent. i hope you guys find happiness on this site going forward, but i dont think it's for me at this time.
