the Dexter dun gene just like flaxen in horses only expresses on black cows and when its bb, Red cows can be bb but it will not affect their coloring they can also carry Bb but will only carry it. This dilute causes a black cow to be seen as varying shades of chocolate. This will turn any Black based dun will turn it a earthy/brownish tone.
