neat fact about them: Domestic cats generally do not communicate with other animals using meows and such, but rather use body language, touch and scents. Meows are for communicating with humans! In particular, they meow at a similar frequency to a baby's cries, and it sure works! I've often heard yells outside that I thought was a cat or baby, but turns out to be the other!

- some penguins naturally live in forests, in New Zealand
- penguins are sort of like owls in that they actually have much longer legs than it looks like they do. Their legs are all curled up so their knees are next to their tummies. Depending on the exact species, their femurs are either horizontal or slope slightly upwards towards their stomach
- penguins have spikes in their oesophagi so that any fish they swallow can't get back up
- any time a bird that looks like a penguin has turned up in other geological time periods, they are an evolutionary dead end and the entire branch of birds go extinct rather than evolve into anything else. This is because penguins are too stubborn for their own good.
- according to a scientific paper I read in October, penguins are so cute to humans because their overall body shape appears so similar to humans, they are too small to be threatening, and their eyes are obscured by their markings so we can't get the feeling of being stared at. I would like to add that it is also because they are so chubby BC they are full of joy
- penguins evolved in Australia
