Cat Name: Aurelia
Gender: female
Rank: solaris novice
Clan: Saguaro Syndicate
Age: 335 sunsets (11 months)
Aurelia has dreams of becoming the leader of her own group of cats... if only she had followers.
The clan -- or rather, the Saguaro Syndicate -- are meant to be an eccentric group of cats. Aurelia is both the founder and the Solaris, otherwise known as the leader or literally meaning "of the sun". Technically, she still calls herself a novice because of her young age. Which is the exact reason why she's yet to bring anyone to her cause. She developed the hierarchy and the ranking system for the Syndicate. The Aurora is the heir, meaning "dawn". The kits are Ortus, meaning "sunrise" or "daybreak". The elders are Occasus, meaning "setting of the sun" or "sunset". The rest of the ranks are meant to keep a general order to the remaining cats.
The most odd thing of all is how the cats count their ages, because they literally count their days. Rather than "moons", cats name their ages by "sunsets" -- meaning how many days they've lived or how many sunsets they've seen. For some of the oldest Occasus, this can get increasingly tiresome and meddlesome. In Aurelia's case, she claims to be 335 sunsets old... but allegedly she's much older than she reveals. Although her stature is small, she has immense wisdom and knowledge.
One morning, she went about her usual travels across the desert. In search of a home, in search of a permanent sanctuary. To her surprise, Aurelia instead found a hairless cat with a skull mask and a bright orange tom with birds. The bluejay on her head chirped in greeting to the two larger birds, and she found herself dipping her head to the cats. "Can you truly make my dreams come true? Would you... join me?"
The pale one blinked sightlessly at her. And she already knew her answer, although she spoke the question aloud. The cat answered with a drawl,"No, youngin'. Unfortunately, I can't do nothin' of the sort. But we can find travelers, just like you."
The three of them ventured further into the desert, all with the same vision and the same hope. All for one apprentice.
