Action: after my conversation with the park ranger, I came back with the food he gifted me with a confident feeling. I picked a nice, large open area and began to throw the bird feed out to the ducks, offering the smaller ones more. Once some feed was on the ground, I sat and watched, when it was almost gone I put some of the bird seed in my hand and held it out flat, to see if anyone would come eat it.

Action: Eventually getting over the shock of recent events, I open the bag of seed and place it in my lap. Grabbing a handful I stretch out my palm, sitting still patiently waiting for a friendly visitor.

Many friendly visitors stop by. You were so caught up by all the ducklings you didn’t quite notice the odd one out. You are pretty sure it wasn’t a duckling or gosling, and for sure not a cygnet! After feeding the rest of your birdseed out, you get up to go follow where you think the odd one went. Nothing. With a heavy heart, you searched and search but only found a Complex Custom Ticket. It’s good, but you wanted to know who the odd duckling was.

They are ducks, they seem to be always hungry! They swarm you, quacking and basically screaming for treats. You cover your ears and run away, a massive wave following you. Eventually they give up and you sigh, seeing a bag of Duck Feed: Peas sitting ahead of you. You grab it and nearly jump to look over your shoulder.

Action: With some tactical support at least, we can start with these ducks before looking for more recruits.

I'm going to use the game of chess to teach the Ducks tactics. The pieces are bits of bird seed and when their pieces take one of their opponent's pieces, they get to eat it, so they have an incentive to learn quickly (so they can eat more birdseed).

There'll be a lot of random pieces eaten early, but even one actual tactician duck is a huge asset.
Duck Feed: birdseed

Like predicted, the board was pecked, smashed, flipped, and even walked on by the fowl for the birdseed. Maybe teaching them to sit and think would be easier. You encourage them to do that and some pick up on it. It’s progress! Yay! Good good, the plan is working. You correct your inner thoughts. After quite a bit of success on having them sit and some move the pieces without eating them, you decided to call it an exhausting day. Packing up, you notice Spring Hoof Polish among the items you brought.

Action: Today... I'm tired. Too tired for more sketching shenanigans, so I decide to take a seat on one of the benches and watch the ducks and geese instead. Maybe take a nap.

I join you on the nap, snoring loudly enough to keep you awake. You glare at me and decide to shove as many feathers in my open, snoring mouth as possible. After a good 30 I woke up and coughed up feathers, looking in shock. After spitting them out for a while I get up and leave, needing to wash the feeling out from my mouth. They say soap is punishment, but it’s the only way I’ll feel clean! A bag of Duck Feed: Lettuce was left behind for you!

Action: The trail of peas worked like a charm previously. Let’s see if a trail of birdseed will reap the same kind of results!

The only result it reaps is the wind blowing it back to the Birdwatching Booth. Not only that, but the birds themselves were flying down, nearly pecking you, and taking it away! In horror, you toss the rest of the bag off, becoming a target of the flying songbirds. Absolutely terrifying! Once you make it clear, you watch as they reap their rewards of the attack and head back to where the Birdwatching Booth is. You reach into your bag for your phone but find a Comb instead. Probably a good thing, as you comb the rest of the thrown birdseed out of your hair.

Action: I have decided to attempt to learn how to speak duck. Today, I listen to the ducks quacking, concentrating very hard on trying to figure out what they are saying. I have no idea how accurate it is, but I now have a trilogy's worth of Duck Lore made up in my head. As thanks, I offer the ducks some birdseed.

The fact you were holding conversations with them may get Chamrosh’s attention, and mine too. I’m shocked you were talking so fluently with them and yet understood nothing exchanged. Despite the guess work of words, it impressed one enough to take all the birdseed and just chat away with you. It seems you’ve found a Talkative Friend! Congrats!

Action: Man, my sense of direction is terrible! I can't tell if I'm getting any closer to the edge of the forest, or heading deeper instead. I might have to start eating these grapes myself for sustenance... But I think I hear a rustling in the bushes, maybe its someone who can help! At least I have these grapes to offer as thanks (or a bribe, as the case may be).

You and a skunk meet head on, the skunk letting out a hiss as you jump. Both of you look unprepared, alarmed, but interested. You offer a grape and explain your situation to the oddly understanding skunk. Wanting more grapes, they lead you to the edge of the forest. They didn’t quite remember how much bigger you were than them so you’ve got quite a few cuts and bruises, but they demanded the grapes again. Not wanting to get sprayed, you just return the whole bag to the skunk. The little happy hops was worth it though as they left you at the edge. You noticed they left a paper, a Complex Custom Ticket! Odd but ok.

The duckies wiggle around in the raincoats, like they forgot how to walk! It makes you laugh a bit and you end up taking the outfits off before something happens. Ducks and other waterfowl are already waterproof! When you take one of the raincoats off, you realize you had put one on a bag of Duck Feed: Peas. Weird.

Quite a few songbirds came to eat from your hand, but a goose chased them off with a swing of its head. They munched on the birdseed in your hand, everyone enjoying the treat without crowding for it. You held out a handful a few more times, the goose trying to get it every time. A few stern words about sharing and they went to go pick some more up from the ground instead. Finishing it off, they all started to leave and left behind a Duck Feed: Grapes for you to use next time!

The Duck returned, apologizing greatly and looking very sad that it nearly hit you. You shared the peas you had in your hands and they felt so guilty, but ate some to try to make friend. As you search for bugs for the Bug Booth, a Fox jumped out toward your downpour goose friend. As the two of you panic and start to run away, the goose Foe to Friend starts chasing the fox. Soon the Fox realized its mistake, squeaking and then tipping away with Foe to Friend goose chasing them down. You and Downpour agree how scary it was and follow after. Guess swans aren’t the only foes!

(This is not a friend or foe unlock, just figured a little diversity on foes would be cool!)

Apparently your pun was offensive to swans as one honked and started chasing you down! The ducks all quacked and called, attempting to calm the angry swan down. Like any wisdom you possessed, you ran. Not much else to do when the bird is half your size! Thankfully they were able to calm the swan down and the talkative Duck friend you had made the day prior explained the joke much better than you could. Whew.
