Range Trotters are the result of crossbreeding Orlov Trotters, Finnhorses, Welsh Cobs (section C & D) and Hanoverians. Later crosses of Quarter Horses, Paint and Appaloosas to gain color and to give a boost to their hardiness.With a height average of 13-15 hands, they're a hardy breed with characteristics for various disciplines.

Created for use as work, carriage and leisure riding horses originally, they now serve as long-distance range horses, such as work with Park Rangers and mounted officers.

Willing and eager personalities, most are quickly trained to be bombproof and therefore trusted mounts in all lines of work; some are being seen in local show jumping competitions, others are notably used in therapeutic sessions for their calm temperaments. Harness races and endurance trials are common for the breed, as they are able to sustain an extended trot without tire. Cross-Country competitions see some of the taller Trotters, but due to their cob lineage this is still uncommon.

Despite the variety of competitions and work these horses are being seen in, they are still famously skilled as endurance racers. Many competitors have chosen Range Trotters due to their tireless work ethic, as well as the ease in which they can be trained. Many have become champions in endurance trials, and they have quickly become a sought after breed for their natural ability.

Curious about this, as she has been looking for another Range Trotter, a Stallion in particular, she saved the ad and called the number.

A man answered the phone, and as they spoke about the horse. He went into detail about the horse, finally revealing the gender and color at the very least. It was a stallion! She quickly asked if she can come over and meet with him about the stallion.

When she arrived she was expecting a basic bay, not the sun walking the earth. She watched as he trotted around a paddock. Upon a good agreement, she was able to adopt him and take him back to Wolf Hunt.

Everyone was excited to see this mystery stallion, and from the phone call she made to her husband, there was a clear reason for her excitement! He definitely knew that he was the center of attention, he held his head high and looked at his new home. Everyone in awe of his beauty.

And that was how Wolf Hunt gained another blooming sun in their field of green.

Hushed whispers and flitting glances rushed through the crowd, a look of incredulity dousing their features. It had been speculated, thrown about that a Goddess slept at the bottom of the sea, laid deep in the gaping maw of an iridescent cave flooded with the shimmer of gold. There were rumors, stories, folktales and warnings of her existence. Every story took a new stance on her morality. Some refused to speak of her, let alone her name. Some claim the mare was blood thirsty and cruel, seeking the souls wandering the ocean vulnerable and alone, taking in the sight of the land. Others like to believe she's a benevolent creature, one who comes to those in their time of desperation. Yet here this young filly was, explaining her encounter so quickly her words almost inaudible. Many looked at her with skepticism and pity, convinced she was making this up to quench some insatiable thirst for attention. Yet a handful looked upon her with youthful awe, openminded and desperate to believe. The quiet screaming judgement radiating in waves off the crowd was quickly extinguished when a hazy gold ray of sun illuminated the space behind her. Quickly understanding washed over them all; it was not the sun, it was a horse. It was her.

Theia.

There before them stood the goddess, reaching tall in elegance and grace. The silence was so palpable dozens of ears could pick up the sound of the legend breathing. "Now Marianne, was this the lot you were talking about?" Silk and velvet graced the breeze, deep and gentle against the others ears. Somehow the crowd grew quieter as she laid her eyes upon them.

The sun had barely begun to awaken when Marianne breached the grassy sand dune. Rays of flickering gold gently caressed the earth as the star graced the horizon. Soft pales of pinks and yellows caressed the undersides of clouds and painted the tired waves of the edge of the water. It was moments like these that Marianne adored the most. Listening to the world wake was something the filly could never grow tired of. She often came out to this area when the night had been rough to her, her dreams unkind and thoughts aggressive. Marianne approached the terrain interwoven with damp sand and lapping waves and paused. Breathing in deep, she could taste the cool salt on her tongue as she began to talk to whatever deity was out there. Apparently, someone heard.

When she opened her eyes, there stood a glimmering goddess, alight with the radiance of the growing sun. "Now my dear, what burdens you so?"

Soon she was back at home, legend in toe to help soothe her aches within the herd. It was that day it was learned that the goddess was gracious, warm and compassionate. And it was that day Theia had finally found her home.

The locals began calling him the Gilded Ghost, for his shiny coat and wary nature. He was regarded as a sort of cryptid or forest spirit and many viewed sightings of him as omens of good fortune. A year or so after the first sighting, Oro was seen with a nasty gash on his flank, so a number of volunteers worked tirelessly to finally catch him. He was terrified, but understood that they meant to help him. Once his wound was healed, he showed that he was far from the feral ghost he had been before, so he was brought into our stables as a resident. He enjoys his time out in the pasture more than anything, but he comes running when called to. He was given the name “Oro” for the gleaming golden tones in his coat, and his show name was kept as a reminder of where he started and how far he has come.

He first appeared in the castle of Aurum's first king; in a dark night of strong winds that extinguished all but one lamp in the castle, guards spotted a golden glimmer in the darkness in the figure of a horse. Immediately after, all the lamps lit up and burned brightly, persisting into the night despite how strong the winds and rain were.

Soon after, the citizens began spreading around stories of a golden steed appearing to them in moments of need. An Aurum merchant whose caravan was trapped in a treacherous forest told of seeing a golden horse at the corner of his vision, after which the forest creatures no longer disturbed him. An Aurum child who ran out of the city walls to play and got lost chattered nonstop of golden-coloured hoofprints that led her on the path back.

Regardless of the occasion or the person, one thing was clear: a golden horse was guarding the citizens of Aurum. The stallion soon received a name, Kiniro meaning gold. Statues made of the best gold were placed in the king's court and at the town square in the guardian stallion's honour, but many claimed its glow was nothing compared to the lustre of his coat. Many speculated his origins and even said he was an enchanted statue; but no one ever found out because they could never get close to him or see him properly.

The people of Aurum knew they had nothing to fear as long as Kiniro was by their sides. A corrupt king that soon came into rule wanted to take advantage of that by sending the soldiers into war against another city; but their forces were sorely outnumbered. The night before he was to make the decree, the castle guards all saw the lamps go out and suddenly relight in ferocious flame, and a golden horse racing along the tiled roofs. The next day, the king called off the war charge; what happened that night was unknown to all but him and Kiniro, but Kiniro had once again saved the city's people.

Kiniro was a spirit manifested from the gold of the city itself, born with an innate will to protect its people. As long as they were people of Aurum, no matter how far from home, he would still be watching over them and the very soil of Aurum. He would continue to guard this city of radiant souls, and keep its lamps burning, even long long after there is no one left to tend to them.
