This is a little more of a spooky setting (in a dark forest type vibe), so if you’re easily spooked maybe sit this one out <3
I chose ”goodbye” but it was also loosely inspired by the other prompts too hehe.

The wind whistled through the trees of the forest, the moon hung low in the sky, its faint light illuminating the twisting pathways dancing amongst the trees. They often came out here at this time, the late night walks often gave them clarity that was missing at other times of day. They felt the light breeze on their fur, and heard the quiet rustling of leaves. They sighed, they could hear the louder rustling of some small animals scurrying about in the underbrush.
They breathed in the earthy scents of the forest, the dirt, the bark of the trees, just as a thick mist began to drift around the roots of the furthest trees. They didn’t mind the mist, it sometimes happened on the cooler nights.
However, just as they were settling into their walk, the forest grew quiet…
The tiny animals stopped rustling, and even the wind paused, waiting for… something…
They started to get a little spooked by the forest’s strange behaviour, nervously they scanned the edges of what they could see, searching for the source of this weirdness.
Then they saw it, its shadow was heavy and dull glowing eyes, stared back at them. They could have sworn they felt their heart stop in their chest.Their shadowy form towered over the Storkatt stood before them. The Storkie could make out nothing but a heavy silhouette plus two red fearsome eyes trained directly on them, staring straight into their heart and soul.
For a split moment the shadowy creature’s expression faltered, was that a hint of… Concern? Pleading? Was this dark mass trying to ask something of them? They took a step forwards toward the creature.
Seeming to have read their mind, the creature let out an unnatural growl to not get too comfortable.
If this creature wanted to hunt them it probably would have already at least chased them, so they took an unexpected choice, taking a step back they shakily bowed their head and shoulders toward the creature, doing their best to signal that they weren’t here to harm the creature or its forest…
The shadow’s silhouette softened somewhat, the edges blurred and they began to race through the trees, a void-like mist trailed behind them. They felt drawn to follow, feeling like this is why the shadow had shown itself, but they couldn’t be certain… They raced through the trees behind that dark comet. Darting between the trees and working their way deeper and deeper into the late night fog.
After travelling quite some way, the creature slowed to a stop, coming up on a small mound in the dirt, they noticed a fallen branch, as they came closer, then they saw it, a smaller shadow was curled around under the branch, its tiny red eyes staring up at the larger shadow. It tried to wriggle free, but it was apparent it was trapped.
They gasped, “a kit?”
The larger shadow shifted its weight from one side to the other, before reaching towards the branch and phasing right through it, its wispy form passing right through the thin ends of the branch. It looked pleadingly towards the nervous storkatt.
“You’re just a parent trying to protect your kit… I’ll do what I can…” They bowed their head to the creature, accepting their plea.
They knelt down into the brush and dirt near the thick end of the branch. Wedging their body under the branch they began to work their way closer to their shoulders being under the branch.and with one final shove, the branch rolled and tumbled off of the strange kit. It immediately sprinted over to the larger shadow letting out some sounds that could almost be described as chirps.
They couldn’t help but smile at this little reunion, despite the strange unnatural sounds both of the creatures were making.
The larger shadow returned its attention to the storkie, bowing its head, They knew exactly what they were saying.
“Your welcome, and goodbye to you too, we may not meet again, but I’m glad for our short time together.” They replied.
