He wasn't sure where the wall had come from and why it was there, plus he was afraid of getting even more ice stuck in his fur. When Mockingbird appeared, Finley felt guilty for not speaking up and stopping the others from doing whatever they wanted to the wall. Should he stay here with Carol or check out the forest with Mockingbird? Perhaps there would be less snow over in the forest, or maybe Mockingbird had a sensible home somewhere in the trees where they could warm up? Finley decided he would take his chances with the new stranger and followed him.

And if something scary does happen.... well she's a fast runner. Nothing's gonna be catching and making a meal out of her anytime soon.

Just as Ace thought, something interesting was finally happening. Watching Carol and Mockingbird bicker was amusing, but the forest behind the ice was most intriguing of all. And apparently dangerous! As a big group, it couldn’t be that much of a risk, so Ace was keen to go explore, following Mockingjay toward the unknown. He thought about what might await amongst the trees- he’s been in plenty of woods in the winter before, and nothing ever frightened him. Mockingbird was an interesting character too. He really had just popped out of nowhere, and how had they never noticed any of this on any days prior? Ace wanted to know more about Mockingbird and where he came from- while he didn’t necessarily agree with Mockingbird shoving a tail in Carols face, he did find it a little amusing after days of shovelling snow.
