Being this small… just was not right. Astra remembered the world from where she had come from. She had been a Ninetales, fighting the Former Champion of Galar’s Charizard. Running through Hisui alongside Amaterasu, fighting Nobles and eventually Arceus themselves.
But then she was asked to go help this place, to help guard it in the same way she had the other. She could phase between worlds, of course.
But why was she. Small? Not that it proved a problem, but it was annoying. She was only a third as menacing when glaring at threats and all.
Astra’s ears swiveled, picking up the sound of familiar paw steps.
“Pharus,” Astra nodded, “Weren’t you suppose to be watching Melemele Island today?”
“Tapus came back early.” Pharus shrugged with a nod.
“Right… so now that you’re here… can I ask a question?”
“Sure?”
“How does Vulpiii evolve?”
“Vulpiii? As in a you?” Pharus blinked. Astra nodded.
“I mean it’s a baby evo- HEY” Pharus started, pausing as Astra playfully whacked him on the horn, “Friendship. Maybe. Or time. Or a very specific move you have to use. Or maybe it’s like Galarian Yamask’s evolution?”
“You… don’t know.” Astra concluded.
“Some Pokémon just… evolve.” Pharus gave a soft smile, “C’mon you were a Vulpiii once before, right?”
“Long, long ago. In a different world, Pharus.”
“Exactly. Maybe you need to put two and two together? What you did in that world that you’re not doing here?”
Astra thought for a moment and nodded, “You’re right, thanks Pharus!”
“Anytime?” Pharus tilted their head confused, as the Vulpiii ran off.
It had been a blue moon when the sixth tail had come in and the blue light sparkled around her. Astra looked up at the sky, seeing the blue orb hovering miles above her.
