Choice of Ingredients: Flavor - Peach / Color - Pinkan Berry / Aroma - Tropic Blooms / Charm - Custard
Bake!:
(Author’s note: This writing is an extension of my custard writing, and follows the events after it.)

Charlotte laid back in her chair, and took a long, drawn out sip from her cup of cider. Mmm. She was a large fan of autumn beverages; there was certainly no denying that. She softly placed her cup down, and stood up out of her chair. It felt as though the two had been chatting for hours and hours on end; surely the custard had to be cooled down enough by now. Charlotte stopped at the door, and blushed with embarrassment as she realized something. The custard was going into a pie anyway…Did it have to be cooled in the first place…? Oh well, if Auntie hadn't said anything, then she wouldn't either. Charlotte pulled out the custard from the fridge, and chuckled softly to herself. "Ready to make this pie?" She called out. Auntie got up shortly after, and the sound of her feet clicking against the hardwood floor cut through the otherwise silent atmosphere. "Sure am." She smiled, and the two of them helped one another put on an apron. "If I do the crust, can'ya do the fillin' for me?" Charlotte cocked her head, and Auntie nodded in response. " 'Course!" The Kyonpan prepped her ingredients happily, and took out a bowl. She paused, washed her hands thoroughly, and then continued her work. In goes the flour! In goes the sugar! In goes the salt! She mixed the ingredients lightly with a fork, and once satisfied she began to slowly put in the cubes of butter. Smash, smash, smash! She mercilessly beat the butter until the mixture resembled chunky sand, not the most appetizing of a description, but it worked. She slowly added water into the dough, then paused to look over at Auntie. It seemed her filling was coming along rather well; the two of them made eye contact, and Charlotte immediately turned her head away to face her crust again. Knead, knead, knead…Stare…Knead, knead, hold…Stare…Rolling into a ball…Stare. Charlotte slowly shuffled herself to the left, and began to place her two dough balls on the counter. Out came the plastic wrap, and into the fridge they went. Hmm…Perhaps she should help Auntie while they waited. Charlotte trotted over to the Appletun, "Need help?" She smiled. "Sure!" Auntie replied, moving over to allow Charlotte to get in. The two of them whisked, and whisked. Then they forgot what they were doing and began chatting again about stuff completely irrelevant to the task at hand; soft chuckles occasionally filled the air, and nods of agreement scattered their interaction. Suddenly, Charlotte gasped. "Ah! The pie!" The two of them hurriedly finished the filling, and Charlotte rushed to pull the dough out of the fridge. She laid the balls out, and out came the rolling pin! She pressed the dough down thin, and put it into a tin. Press, press, press. In went the filling! The final layer went on top, a lovely lattice pattern. Ding! The oven was done preheating, so in went the pie. Charlotte smiled, and bowed a little as she closed the oven. "Hows'bout we share s'more of that cider?" "That'd be nice!" The two of them smiled, and walked off together back to their chairs.

Colisha sighed as she watched the unbaked pie in front of her.
"Are you sure that moss is a good ingredient for a pie?"

Palios half-shrugged with a confident grin.
"Definitely. That moss was the top-quality moss I've ate in recent years. It should be fine."

Day: 13
Choice of Ingredients: (ONLY ONE of each) Flavor: Rhubarb (tart)/Color: Pinkan Berry (pink)/Aroma: Sweet Wood (Cinnamon and Cardamom)/Charm: Marshtomp Glove (Gourmandian)
Bake!:
Charlotte tied on her little apron and smiled at Auntie who was lining up the ingredients they had just washed in front of them.
"Are you ready Auntie?" Charlotte asked her affectionately. She had really grown to enjoy her time with the old lady and would really miss her when their work together was over. She was determined to at least do her best to impress Auntie with her pie so she would be proud of her.
Auntie gave Charlotte her slow sweet smile and Charlotte's heart melted a bit. "Of course dear, let's get started!"
First Charlotte prepared the Rhubarb, cutting it up into fine slices before setting them aside.
Auntie helped show her how to do the berry mashing for the next part, using a mortar and pestle to fully liquify them into a pink paste that she then set aside in a little bowl.
Charlotte worked hard to grind the sweet wood, the aroma reminding her of her fairy friends in the woods. The thought of them made her so happy she couldn't help but smile. She would have to go back and say hi to them after Halloween was over. She put the power in a little bowl before setting it aside.
Auntie showed Charlotte how to properly prepare the Marshtomp Glove, being careful to only have her set aside just enough to use in a pie but not enough to overwhelm the person eating it.
Charlotte (with coaching from Auntie) put all the ingredients in a bowl and mixed them together well before putting them in the pie tin. Auntie helped her craft a beautiful Halloween Jack o Lantern themed crust top that she gently draped over the rest of the pie. Auntie opened the preheated oven and Charlotte put the pie in, careful not to burn herself. Charlotte and Auntie then went over to take a tiny nap together as they waited for the timer to go off, snuggling in happily. Charlotte silently resolved that she would have to come back next year to do this again with Auntie because it had been so much fun and Auntie was just so sweet!
When the timer finally sounded Auntie was the one to get the pie out with her cute little oven mitts, setting it on the counter to cool. Charlotte ran over to try and see what it looked like, excited to finally get a look at it. The pie was a lot pinker than she had expected- clearly a result of the berries she had added. The aroma was very clearly of Cinnamon and Cardamom, clearly the work of the sweet wood.
It was hard to be patient and wait for the pie to cool but after what felt like an eternity Auntie finally said they could cut it!
Tasting it she could really enjoy the use of the Marshtomp Glove and Rhubarb together. They really complimented each other in a way she hadn't expected. The tartness of the Rhubarb and gourmandian charm of the Marshtomp Glove went so well together! Auntie and Charlotte enjoyed the pie together and Charlotte made sure that even though she and Auntie got seconds that she saved a slice for the Rhubarb loving Pokemon she had encountered in the garden at the very beginning.

Bake!:

Auntie Appletun let out a tremendous yawn as she was roused from her slumber by the merry jingling of kitchen utensils clinking against each other. Oh, my. It certainly had been a long time since she’d last had visitors, and an even longer time since she’d been a guest at a table. Baking was her wheelhouse, and generally, she prepared the food that was eaten.

These visitors, however, had insisted upon taking up the mantle of chef and instructed her to make nothing more than a crust before they finished the pie on Halloween-eve.

The leader of the group had introduced herself as Amenamuon, or Amy, and had seemed competent enough to follow some general baking instructions. In return, Amy had told her to get a good, long nap, so that she could be well rested enough to make the long hike to town for the Halloween festivities, and to be ready to have a delicious pie prepared for her, for once. She put her weary head back down on her handmade pillow and seized the opportunity to get some more sleep.

What she did not realize, however, was that Amenamuon was not in the kitchen. In fact, the only Pokémon in the house other than Auntie herself was Mona, who was gleefully stirring the wet garden moss into the chopped rhubarb that Amenamuon had left behind. To a bear, the mixture smelled fresh and wonderful.

That was when Harold cracked the front door open and slipped through the gap, quiet as a mouse.

Mouse-quiet was not quiet enough to avoid alerting Mona to his presence, the teddiursa’s sensitive ears twitching as he stepped across the threshold. “Oh, Harold, you’re back!” She looked away from her project and toward her soft footed companion. “H-Harold! You got all messy! Are you okay? What happened?!”

She would not receive an answer. The warfurs simply ambled to Mona’s side and began peeling the sticky, pink mess from his coat and depositing it into the mixing bowl.

“Oh, Harold! That was such a good idea! Sticking the ingredients to your coat to carry more of it! You’re such a smart pokemon!”

Mona did not see the subtle roll of Harold’s eyes, but he seemed more relaxed now that the questions had stopped. He continued adding more and more of the fuzz to the bowl as Mona started stirring again. The bulk of it was able to be detangled from his coat, but the normally-white fur was still stained a light pink.

The mixture, once a chunky heap of rhubarb, had taken on an almost grainy appearance with the addition of the moss, and sticky strings pulled long and then apart like taffy with every stir.

The door flew open with two towering forms in the doorway, and the blue one let out a gasp. “Oh no. Oh, nonono. Mona, put the bowl down.”

Amenamuon had returned to the cottage and was in full damage control mode.

Lord Arceus trading the pinkan berries to a mimikyu for a cup of strange translucent sugar had been enough of a road bump. Amy wasn’t sure if she could handle dealing with whatever concoction her rhubarb filling had been made into. The sweet wood was still sitting on the counter, and whatever was causing it to be so sticky certainly was not Marshtomp Foot. Or Auntie’s custard, for that matter. What in the Lord’s name-?

“Amenamuon.”

The resonant voice of her Lord called out to her. “You seem troubled. Keep Auntie company. We will finish the pie.”

Amy could only comply. Her perfect plan to relieve the Appletun of her work and bake a delicious treat had failed. The least she could do was let the disaster come to its inevitable conclusion and distract Auntie with some company. Amenamuon knew that she wasn’t the warmest of companies, but she was respectful company, and she could be an excellent listening ear.

She lumbered toward the resting form of Auntie Appletun and sat down next to her, guarding her from unpleasant dreams and whatever horrors were being concocted in the kitchen.

…Perhaps she should have had a little bit more faith in her friends.

Day: 13
Choice of Ingredients: Blackberries (Berry) / Sugar Grass (Green) / Curled Bean Pod Paste (Vanilla) / Marshtomp Glove (Gourmandian)
Bake!:
Basilisk rubs his wings together and hypes himself up as he stares at the ingredients he's gathered, and tries to build up the mental fortitude it's going to take for a little Rookidee like him to navigate a kitchen and put this pie together.

Thinking about the advice Auntie Appleton had offered him when he declined her help in the kitchen, Bass does two quick things before he begins. First, he preheats the oven. Auntie had reiterated the importance of this first task at least eight times, so Basilisk figures it's pretty important. Secondly, he performs mise en place, doubling-checking that he has all of his ingredients spread out on the counter before he gets started. Thirdly, he regrets his initial decision, and, even if he wants to do most of it on his own, Bass reinvites Auntie into the kitchen so she can help him, even if it's only a little bit.

The premade crust Auntie had so generously given to him, the Marshtomp Glove he had spent hours seeking, the Curled Bean Pods and Sugar Grass he had gathered by narrowly escaping some harrowing situations, and the blackberries he had endured a hilariously unfortunate number of thorns to pick. In the spirit of the game, Bass doesn't have anything additional aside from the necessary pie tin and a few bowls. This is it, the pinnacle of all his hard work. It almost brings a tear to his eye. Or maybe both of his eyes. Yeah, Basilisk definitely is crying and he hasn't even started the baking process yet. She coos at him and soothingly pats him with one of her big forepaws.

Wiping away the sudden tears, Basilisk readies himself and gets to work. He's unable to operate a mortar and pestle given his avian physique and thankfully she takes over the task of grinding the Sugar Grass stalks into a fine paste. While she works away at that, Bass uses a small rock to mash up the blackberries in a bowl until they're suitable to be used as the main part of his pie filling. Next, he moves on to the Curled Bean Pods, carefully extracting the vanilla beans inside with a very tiny scraping tool, and depositing those in a tinier bowl. Then the most complicated part of the process: using the Marshtomp Glove to create a powder without inhaling too much of the scent. Even though it doesn't have too strong of an effect on Basilisk, he breathed very little in when he initially got them and doesn't want to test how potent the fungi can be. Using a very small grater (seriously, how does Auntie Appleton have all these teeny-tiny kitchen tools? How often does she have little mons baking with her?), Bass shaves powder off of the cap of the mushroom until Auntie signals that he's done enough.

She patiently finishes the Sugar Grass paste for him and then makes quick work of the vanilla beans before mixing all of his ingredients together. Basilisk watches with interest as the purple of the blackberry, black of the Curled Bean Pod paste, and orange-blue dusting of the Marshtomp Glove are overtaken by the beautiful, rich green of the Sugar Grass. With little fanfare, she stirs the filling for him, pours it into the lower pie crust, then delicately lays the second crust on top. His eyes are watering again by the time she places it in the oven.

"Oh, deary," she laughs good-naturedly and rustles the short feathers on the top of his head. "No need to cry! You did a wonderful job, I'm sure your pie is going to turn out absolutely wonderful!"

A little self-conscious to explain to her that he isn't insecure just overly emotional about baking a pie, Bass nods. "Thanks, Auntie. I really needed that."

The pie only takes forty minutes to bake. In that time, Basilisk retells Auntie Appleton all his ingredient-collecting tales, exaggerating details and tacking on fun little details to make her laugh. Once it's out of the oven, Bass is ready to swoop down and chow down, but she calmly explains to him that the pie has to cool before they can actually try any of it. During this downtime, Auntie tells him her own ingredient misadventures, which have Bass laughing like a madman, time flying by fast.

At last, she plates the pie and cuts two slices and Bass stares at his piece with wide eyes, unsure if he's ready to see if his concoction turned out scrumptious or downright nasty. Something about his thought process must show on his face (or maybe he just said it out loud) because Auntie sighs knowingly and tells him, "sweetheart, I promise you this pie will be delicious. Come on now, let's dig in!"

With great hesitance, Basilisk takes a big bite of the pie. And, shockingly, it's...

Really good!

The sweetness of the vanilla and blackberry is dampened by the deceptively powerful savory kick the Marshtomp Glove powder adds, and the flaky pie crust really ties in all together in a pleasant mix of texture and taste. With his eyes as big as saucers, he flicks his wings and tails up excitedly, Auntie chuckling sweetly at his enthusiasm, talking his ear off about how she knew the pie would be excellent the second she laid eyes on him. Bass can do nothing but smile back shyly, beyond pleased that his hard work payed off in the end. [910 words]

Choice of Ingredients:
flavor - strawberry sweets / color - ruby gleam / aroma - frost leaf / charm - volbeat shimmer
Bake!:
how could baking a pie with three fire types go? horribly, horribly wrong. maybe a lot of stress and some yelling, but definitely something will be put on fire.

it started off normal enough. circe, nyx, and juno gathered the ingredients that they've gather before them: ruby gleam from sableye's mine, frost leaf from drampa's garden, volbeat shimmer from volbeat, and strawberry sweets from the cafe. "it's time to start baking," circe said. "after all of our hard work, we'll be able to enjoy a sweet, minty pie!"

"that's only if we don't burn it first," nyx commented. that roused an angry glare from circe. "it's bound to happen."

"no, it's not," circe said.

"I haven't baked anything before. you definitely haven't, circe. as for juno, i don't know," nyx coldly replied. "every single home baked good you have brought to dinners, circe, is a store bought baked good."

"no, it isn't."

"yes, it is! you don't even take off the stickers from the container."

"at least, i bring something," circe mumbled.

nyx started to reply as juno left the two of them to bicker. juno didn't enjoy the argument and left to get the necessary pots and other ingredients. it laid each one out and started to get to making the crust. that part was easy enough for juno, just follow what instructions that auntie appletun had laid out for them. it was easy enough with the mixing and adding the necessary ingredients.

nyx and circe kept on bickering while juno attended to the making of the pie crust. "well, let's just agree to disagree about my baking skills," circe said.

"fine, if it means, i don't have to listen to you. let's start on the pie crust," nyx said. the two of them turned to see juno was making something. "juno, what are you doing?"

juno lifted up the recipe with its shadowy arm and showed it to nyx and circe.

"how do you know it's even edible?" circe asked with suspicion in her voice.

"I doubt juno would do something like that. how far are you?" nyx said.

juno gestured towards the bowl that contained the unbaked pie crust. it pointed to the second to last direction on the paper. nyx nodded as circe went to the bowl. she stuck a bowl into it and took a small dip of it, licking it off. she nodded approvingly, "it's good."

the rest of the time went well. they took turns making a different part until it was time to actually bake the pie. the oven was done pre-heating. "now, we take it nice and easy," circe said. "we just have to leave the pie in there until it's done."

"or, we could just burn it," nyx replied.

juno bounced up and down in response, obviously agreeing with nyx.

"no, not again," circe said. "we are not doing anything with fire." circe took the pie and placed it into the oven. she turned away and then went out of the kitchen. much to her disdain, nyx and juno took out the pie and slowly cooked the pie quicker with their combined fire power. they high fived and left the pie out for circe to find later. they did find out later of circe's reaction as she demanded to know what the two did to the pie. it was slightly burnt and maybe overcooked pie. circe was obviously angry and upset with them, but nyx and juno didn't care, at least the pie was done. the pie made of the standard ingredients but with ruby gleam, frost leaf, volbeat shimmer, and strawberry sweets, along with it being slightly burnt and overcooked.
