How do they decorate their yard?
A soft yellow glow of fairy lights were wrapped around the archway, lining their way overhead and across the walkway, leading up to the house where they continued up and followed the house's frame, hanging from the gutters almost like Christmas lights.
Along the sides of the walkway, sitting on the ground just at the line of cement and lawn sit an assortment of pumpkins of all shapes and sizes, with a few different kinds of squash placed here and there.
And though not every pumpkin was carved, if you were to look hard enough you might just find a few friendly faces among the crowd.
Scattered on the ground of the pavement, from the steps of the house to the sidewalk, lay an array of colors of craft store-bought leaves, ranging from orange, red, and brown. Throughout the day these fall leaves look beautiful, but in fact hold a fun surprise at night. For each have been painted over with a clear coat of glow-in-the-dark paint, so with the power of the sun throughout the day, by nightfall this path of leaves will glow, leaving a path of blue and green to follow.
And to help decorate the lawn stands a tall and friendly looking scarecrow, who's shoulder was accompanied by a cute fake crow. The scarecrow was holding a bowl filled with fake corn and was meant to look like he was scattering small pieces onto the ground, where a few other crows sat.
And to finish it all off, just off to the side sat a big inflatable jack-o-lantern, finishing a perfect autumn scene.
However, that was just the scene in the day, for at night there were a few other surprises to be found.
For just like the leaves, the pumpkins that lined the pathway were too painted so that they would glow-in-the-dark as well, but unlike the leaves, they were painted with a clear glitter that glowed, making them look like glittering lights from afar.
But that still wasn't all for the scarecrow's face was painted as well so that during the day he would look like an average scarecrow, but by night he would wear the face of a friendly pumpkin man.
Though it wasn't much for decoration, all this was done with one purpose in mind and one purpose alone, and that was to create a kid friendly environment.
Though Pamela loved a good little spook as much as just about anyone, she also liked to see to the well-being of children.
From her own experience she knows just how fun trick-or-treating can be at night, but just as fun as it is, it can also be quite scary.
It wasn't uncommon for some people to go a bit overboard in the scare department, and Pamela had never forgotten that one Halloween when she was just a child. She was out trick-or-treating with her parents when she happened upon this one house that simply terrified her to the point that she just wanted to go back home where it felt safe.
And so whenever she remembers that time, that's what she strives for, she wants her house to feel like a safe place filled with lights and glow, for those young and for those who begin to fill with the Halloween night terrors, it was her hope to find a way to decorate her house in a way that was and felt safe for Halloween night. And the best way she found was to make her yard filled with that of autumn feelings by day, but with the fun twist of making everything glow during the night, so that it was something pretty for those young children during the day, and a little glow of fun for those at night all the while maintaining a child friendly atmosphere.
Though it was primarily for fun and looks, the leaves and pumpkins and fairly lights held a great safety benefit to glowing, as it helped mark a path for children to walk on when approaching the door to say the three words that ran through the night.
Trick or Treat!!
