kalon name:Kandi
favorite candy: Haystacks
extra: Kandi peered up at the table, chuckling softly. "Mom, you sure this is enough supplies?" they joked. Their Mom only smiled back, before sweeping Kandi into their arms.
"Actually I am positive with my little Candy Monster around I will need some more..." she admitted, a finger booping Kandi's nose. Kandi looked with wide-eyed appreciation at what was laid out on the table: salted peanuts, beanut butter, crunchy chow-mein noodles and butterscotch chips.
"Here... help me make these!" And together they melted the butterscotch chips, mixed in everything else, and lined oven trays with parchment paper. But these did not need to bake, oh no! Little mounds were lovingly crafted, before being left to cool. And before too long, their prize was ready!
Together, the pair enjoyed fresh haystacks, and every year after Kandi would make the trip to visit her mom and make them again. No other candy could ever compare.

"Let your spark light your world!"

kalon name: Kaito
favorite candy: chocolate orange
extra:
"Trick or treat!"
Kaito hummed to himself as he twirled the fabric of his costume in exasperation. As another set of children ushered themselves to his family's home, Kaito couldn't help but roll his eyes before getting to his feet. More carrot sticks and toothbrushes, more disappointed faces, and another holiday ruined in his eyes. He scowled as he crossed the living room and into the kitchen, his cape wavering behind him pitifully. Living with health-centric parents was a total bore, especially on Halloween. While all of the other children were eating copious amounts of tantalizing candy and other sweet treats and having tons of fun, he was stuck at home missing out on even the act of trick-or-treating.
Stepping into the kitchen, Kaito was met with the wonderful scent of pumpkin stew and the sight of his grandmother clad in a silly fairy costume. He chuckled to himself before approaching the stove, hopping onto the stepstool to peer into the large metal pot.
"My my, why do you look so sad my dear? Usually, vampires don't look quite so grumpy on All Hallow's Eve." his grandmother mused, gently patting her grandson on the back of his shoulder.
"I'm supposed to be a vampire-werewolf, Gram," Kaito sighed, motioning to his cape and ripped plaid shirt. "Besides, I imagine any monster would be pretty upset to see other monsters getting to go play and eat whatever garbage they want. I mean, why does anyone even come here to trick-or-treat anymore? Doesn't the whole neighborhood know by now how kooky my parents are? I just wish I could have something remotely sweet..."
The elderly woman frowned deeply at his words. She knew very well that her grandson was raised with his future development in mind, but surely treats here and there wouldn't hurt that. It didn't hurt Kaito's father, her very own son, so why should her grandson be any different? Suddenly, his grandmother's lips curled into a bright smile, causing the young kalon to raise an eyebrow. He watched as she scurried to her bag on the barstool and began rummaging through its contents. In less than a minute, she pulled out a bright blue box with a beautiful orange bow on top. She turned around and presented the item to Kaito, her rosy cheeks seeming to grow brighter. He gently took the box from her, turning it around so he could read the contents.
"A... chocolate orange?" he pondered, his brow furrowing in confusion.
"It's chocolate that looks and tastes a little bit like an orange. It's my favorite treat! I want you to enjoy this one with me, my darling." his grandmother chimed.
Kaito's eyes lit up for the first time that evening, a look of complete joy consuming his expression. Though his parents' voices of warning rang in the back of his mind, he decided to shut them out in favor of this golden opportunity. With his grandmother's help, they unboxed the foiled candy and quietly cracked it open on the countertop. There, before his very eyes, were several chocolate pieces in the shape of orange slices. The smell of cocoa and citrus filled his nose as he grabbed a piece.
"Cheers!" Gram whispered, hugging her Kaito with one arm.
Though this moment would have to be kept a secret, Kaito's world changed forever. From then on, every year he finally looked forward to Halloween, the holiday when he would get to share a chocolate orange with his wonderful Gram.
