Prompt: I was just enjoying my October night, eating popcorn and wasting time looking at the time and watching a terrible movie. It was around 11:37pm so kind of late when I saw glowing eyes out the window. Strange things happened in this house before, like baby toys getting thrown down the stairs while my baby's asleep, or huge bangs coming from the kitchen window. I went to look what it was, after all, there are a lot of coyotes around, maybe it was just a coyote passing by. As soon as I go out, a squirrel jumped onto my face like it didn't want me to go out. I've had a great past with the squirrels, they've eaten out of my hands before, perhaps Shadow was trying to protect me. He jumped off when I got back in my house, and then everything went black. I woke up a few hours later with scratches on my face from the squirrel probably. I felt them bleeding, so went to the bathroom window to check on them. They were definitely not squirrel scratches, they were a human's scratches, but if it had really long nails. I checked out the window to see if anything was there. Nothing. Then 3 seconds later a black figure appeared right in my face out the window. I'll never be able to put a face on the person that haunts my dreams.


I hope this is good! I can remove the blood part and make it just scratches if that's needed ^^

The dark fog grew across the forest, its ghoulish white texture blanketing over every living thing. Behind the veil, thousands of black figures moved, slowly, silently creeping to the center of the woods. Not even the pitter-patter of their paws could be heard. Not a whisker twitched, not a tail flicked. They moved in complete unison, only their eyes illuminating the way.
In the centre of the woods was a clearing lay a gargantuan stone slashed into the form of a demon. The felines congregated under the giant fiend's wings. Only here in the entire woodland was there light, the luminous full moon brightly shining down upon the slate grey statue.
Almost as though they communicated telepathically, all the cats broke into a fight at once. One second there was a serene silence and the next was a chaos-filled yowl. Ever claw unsheathed, every tooth bared. The last figure stood alone, in silence. The air was thick with the smell of death and destruction. The sound of stone crumbling broke the silence in the clearing. The demon unveiled it's true form, basking in the moonlight like a snake on a rock. The demon's hand reached towards the lanky feline, as if a blade was cutting through the fog. As the cat padded onto the clawed hand, the demon took off in flight towards the moonlight.

What Lives in the Forest

You’re never alone when you’re in the forest.
There are creatures you can’t see in the mist
They are drawn in by the scent of your blood.
The clammy rain leaks into your bones,
And you hear them creak and snap in the silence.
There are monstrous shapes behind the trees.

There are ancient riddles carved into the trees
You try to make sense of them in the nebulous dark of the forest.
The snarling of The Beast cuts through the silence.
Its spectral body skulks through the mist.
Under the surface is its past prey’s bones
There’s still a rotting stench of their blood.

The Beast knows that paralyzing fear runs through your blood.
You can’t tell if the dark skeletal shapes are trees,
Or if they’re reaching towards you with their bones.
You’ve been told a witch lives in this forest
You see her familiars lurking in the mist
You try to cry for help but there’s only silence.

You can’t decide if there is safety in the silence.
Hot terror courses through your fevered blood.
There’s always someone just out of sight in the mist.
Fiendish monsters hang from the branches of trees.
You hear them beckening you deeper into the forest.
You hear their teeth clacking on old bones.

There is bile seeping into the marrow of your bones
You still know that the beast is there in the silence.
How long have you been in the forest?
Flashing eyes peer from the darkness, the color of blood
Archaic demons emerge from the cores of trees
And hunt after you in the shadows and mist

You have long since lost any sense of direction in the endless mist.
A sense of hopelessness permeates your bones
The beast is just behind the trees.
There is nothing but the pervasive silence.
Dread and death is running through your blood
The nightmarish beast springs from the heart of the forest.

It lunges towards you in the forest, it’s hulking shape outlined in the mist
The damp ground is covered in blood, and it feasts on your bones.
Suddenly you awake in silence, and you look out your window toward the trees.
