Choice of Ingredient(s): Flavor
Prompt(s):

Zander snuck into the garden, peeking around to try and spy the greedy Drilbur that Auntie warned him about. His ears perked up as he spotted the target who was munching away on all of the rhubarb! He didn’t really want to fight so if he could get it steathily, he was going to try. With a small quiet wiggle, Zander moved as quietly as he could along the ground. He quickly ducked behind a little garden mushroom decor as the Drilbur looked his way. After a moment the other pokemon went back to munching on his stolen treats and Zander relaxed from nearly being caught.

He peeked up from behind the stone mushroom to look over at the Drilbur, planning his area of attack before he quickly dashed towards the rhubarb!! The Drilbur was stunned for a moment before they managed to get a clean swipe on Zander, knocking him to the side and prepping for battle. Well that didn’t go according to plan. It was time for plan B!! Wiggling his nose to recenter his glasses on his muzzle, Zander eyed the rhubarb that the Drilbur had in their paw. Using Knock-Off, Zander hit the greedy pokemon back and caused the item to fall from their grasp. With the rhubarb left wide open for the taking, Zander dashed quickly over to scoop it up in his paws and gave a cheer as he ran back inside Auntie’s house.

He happily gave Auntie the rhubarb, his earned prize for the day before he looked back out the window. He caught the Drilbur’s eye and stuck out his tongue before smacking a little sticker of himself on the window. One ingredient down! Closer to his pie!

Day: 2
Choice of Ingredient(s): Color - Pinkan Berry
Prompt(s): (Word count: 700)

Kipper was no stranger to the free-for-all that was the marketplace, in fact, it was practically all he knew. As he trotted down the streets looking for berries, it felt no different than any other day. He strolled along casually, enjoying all seeing so many Pokémon all in one place, but whilst also keeping an eye out for the fruit stalls. Suddenly, he regretted not bringing more products along with him; he knew how fickle the other produce vendors could be, especially fruit vendors. They were the pickiest of all, and understandably so. After all, their wares took a lot longer to obtain compared to the others. He would just have to hope that what he had would be good enough. Suddenly, he halted. Aha! Kipper's eyes locked with a basket full of them, it was a beautiful sight indeed. The fruit's skin glistened as the street-lights reflected off of it, nearly begging for him to take all of it back home with him. Kipper was honestly surprised at the sheer quantity of berries in the basket, for they were a very exclusive species of fruit. In fact, Kipper couldn't even remember the last time he'd seen this being sold...Interesting.

Regardless, he confidently strutted his way up to the Mawile running the stand. "Good evening." he spoke, doing his best to make a good first impression. (Those were key in the business industry!) "Same to you, sir." the Mawile replied, seeming rather exhausted. "I'll cut to the chase, I'm rather interested in those berries of yours. Would you do...Let's say...15 pounds of fish for it?" Whenever Kipper entered the marketplace it was almost as if he became an entirely different person. His very skittish, unpredictable nature suddenly calmed into a very forward and professional one. Not even he himself knew entirely why this was the case, but it didn't linger for long the second he stepped outside of Emelle's bustling scene. In fact, he often felt queasy even just thinking about having to be away from Emelle for long; after all, it's the only thing that seemed to be able to ground him. Ah...Seemed to have trailed off again, luckily nothing important was missed, as the Mawile was still busy contemplating the offer.

"Hmm...It'd feed me for a while..." "..." "...But, I'm gonna have to pass. These berries took me so long to grow, could you perhaps offer me more?" She spoke at last, to which Kipper considered it for a moment. His only reply was: "If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime."

"Excuse me? I'm not sure what you-" "If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime." He repeated. "I know one of the best fishing spots in all of the region, I do this for a living. Give me at least two of those berries, and I'll personally bring you down there and show you. You don't even have to give me the berries until after we fish. It'd have you set for a lifetime, but only if you know the same tips and tricks that I do." Kipper winked, and laid his paws down on the flat surface of the stall. "You know what...This might be one of the more useful offers I've gotten on these berries, I'll take it. Let me close up shop, and if I can catch a sufficient amount of fish to feed me for the rest of the week by the end of this, you've got yourself a deal."

So, after a long while of walking, and an even longer time fishing. Kipper had finally gotten what he had come for, and boy did it feel great. He trotted along happily, careful not to injure his prized berries. Auntie Appletun was gonna be so happy once he showed her what he'd gotten today! His mouth was already forming a pool of saliva at just the mere thought of a fresh, warm pie, and he could swear he even heard his stomach growling a little bit.

choice of ingredient: pinkan berry
prompt: sweetpea and honeyshuckle skim over the given list of ingredients. they look to each other; honeyshuckle brings an arm to point at the second bullet, casting eir kitty companion a curious look. purr nods enthusiastically.
“pink?”
“pink!!!!!”
they quickly announce their quest to auntie appletun, who gives a warm smile in return. the duo plunders off into the wilderness. searching betwixt every item of foliage and every molecule of dirt, they come up with nothing. light discouragement makes sweetpea drag mew’s feet and honeyshuckle heavily slouch down. just as they begin to head back to auntie’s in defeat, sweetpea notices an anomaly in the wall of rock nearby — a cave entrance.
“honey! look! a cave!” honeyshuckle looks to where she’s eagerly indicating to and triumphantly wiggles.
“c’mon, silly, let’s go!” ey takes off towards the cave; sweetpea clumsily stumbles, close behind.
the cave’s front failed to impress and dull, gray rock surrounded the pair. however, they noticed a faint glow reaching back, and began hopefully moving towards it. they hesitantly turned the corner, sweetpea nervously glancing to their entry point, and out to the early - setting sun. they pressed on, the purpley glow growing brighter and brighter.
upon their last turn, they stumbled upon glory; a beautiful, open geode, big enough to fit both them and at least 10 more similarly-sized mons. the crystalline formations dazzled and gleamed, reflecting ethereal light off of each other. sweetpea and honeyshuckle stood in awe, eyes shining at their discovery. they each walk around and pick up chunks of fallen crystal. even after their quest has been vastly fulfilled, they hesitate to part ways with the cave.
“it’s starting to get dark out — we should probably go,” honeyshuckle sadly mumbles. “i’m scared of what might become of this forest at night.” sweetpea shudders at the thought; mew casts a forlorn gaze at the geode before bumbling away to the entrance (her noodley friend right behind) and dashing back to auntie anne’s without break.
they present the motherly appletun with their collection of crystal shards and chunks; she expresses delight and the duo coyly basks in praise. the merchant would surely accept these for pinkan berry.
“pink?” asks sweetpea.
“pink!!!!!!”

Nugget: Rhubarb/Flavor {Word Count 185}
Nugget wandered into the garden after talking to Auntie. He had to have her explain a couple times what rhubarb was, because he didn’t know what it was, but he was excited to help all the same. As he bounded to the garden to get the rhubarb, out came a drilbur, holding onto the plant protectively.
“Mine! You can’t have my rhubarb! I…I’ll fight you!” the other pokemon shouted at him. The nickit was taken aback for a few minutes, but then regained his composure.
“Hey, there’s no need to fight. I just need some of that rhubarb to help Auntie with pie.” he stepped forward.
“Pie?” the other pokemon blinked.
“Yeah! It’ll be delicious. Would you like to help make it?” Nugget asked. “I’m sure Auntie could always use more help!”
“.....” the drilbur paused. “...I like pie…” it mumbled, before nodding. “...yeah! I’ll help!” it nodded.
“Then come on, let’s get that plant to Auntie!” Nugget nodded his head toward Auntie’s house. “I’ll lead the way!” he said, and happily led the other pokemon to the kind old Appletun, holding the plant they needed.

Minerva: Sweet Wood/Aroma {Word Count 112}
Minerva was more than happy to go find some Sweet Wood for Auntie! She was always good with directions when it came to woods and forests, so she was sure she wouldn’t get lost. And as for the fairy pokemon that guarded the Sweet Wood…well, she loved making new friends! Plus they were fairy types, which was her second typing, so she felt a kinship to them when she found their hang out. Of course, she couldn’t help but get some playtime in as well before grabbing what she needed to head back. She may have been a bit late coming back to Auntie’s, but was worth it to make new friends!

Choice of Ingredient(s): Color- pinkan berries
Prompt(s): [349 words]

"So," the merchant said, a sly look crossing their face as they leaned over the wooden counter, surveying Skittle curiously. "You're here for pinkan berries, huh? Those aren't the easiest to get. What're you willin' to offer?"

Skittle stared back, unblinking. She was no expert at bartering, but had seen Opal in action enough times- committing what others scornfully referred to as "highway robbery" in her attempting to sell supplies to passersby- to have picked up some general principles. One: even if the seller has something you desperately want, don't let them know how much. Appearing desperate would only cause this merchant to further raise his price... a price that would likely already be steep, if Auntie's words had been anything to go by. Skittle really wanted some of those berries- the thought of a lovely pink-colored pie made her want to smile and bounce about with excitement, but she schooled her face into an impassive expression.

"Depends," she said, making her voice sound as steady as possible, leaning nonchalantly on the counter herself. "I've got a fair amount of loveletters to offer, plus a few trinkets I've picked up around, should you want anything to sweeten the deal."

The merchant's eyes gleamed as he glanced at her satchel, undoubtedly wondering what was inside. Good. He was curious. Skittle suppressed a grin. Maybe she should get Opal to take her on as some kind of apprentice swindler, or something.

"What- ahem," the merchant stopped himself, coughing into one paw in a would-be casual manner. But Skittle could see the curiosity (and a bit of greed, as well) written into his body language. "What kinda trinkets... do you mean?"

"I'm a representative of a guild of pretty advanced scouts," Skittle said, studying her paws boredly. "We've picked up a fair amount of treasures in the nearby dungeons, if anything like that would catch your fancy."

"I, eh, might be willing to swap for something like that," the merchant said. "Let's see what you've got."

Skittle grinned, and opened her satchel. Maybe acquiring these berries wouldn't be so difficult, after all.

Day: 2
Choice of Ingredient: Aroma
Prompt:
Nemesis padded along, she was chosen to go fetch the Sweet Bark as she herself is a fairy type. Both Aether and Deimos figured she'd have the easiest time meeting with those in the forest. These fairy type pokemon were very sweet, so Deimos would not be a good chose with his.. violent aesthetic, and Aether is actually quite unsettling to be around and lacks tact.

This lead Nemesis to where she is now. These fairy types seemed to instantly recognize her as one of them and asked what she was after. She explained she was there to retrieve some Sweet Bark for Auntie Appletun. The others immediately became apprehensive, what? Their precious Sweet Wood? Nemesis sensed their shift in attitude and offered to preform a task for them. A pretty diance approached her, handing her a wilting flower.

She looked around, noticing the flowers in the village were quite sad. Nemesis looked at the soil, it was dry. She happily watered the plants with water from a near by stream, turned pink by enchantments. The plants instantly sprung to life, drinking up the water. Tons of flabébé and floettes moved in droves to the newly renewed plant life, making happy little chirps. The diance looked pleased and handed Nemesis a bundle of Sweet Bark.

Choice of Ingredient(s): Aroma - Sweet Wood
Prompt(s):
"This is stupid."

"Oh, shh." Basil flicked Wisp with their tail. "We're almost there, they might hear you."

"And so what if they do?" Wisp huffed, kicking a twig across the dark forest floor. It skittered along the pine needles, and Basil thought they saw something move near its landing - but it happened so quickly they must've imagined it.

"They're just fairies." Wisp continued, pulling Basil's attention back from the empty pile of stones. "What are they going to do? Sparkle us to death?"

"Wisp, Auntie said we have to treat them well." They gave their friend a look. "So be nice."

They paused, smiling. "Or, you know, just don't say anything at all."

Wisp rolled their eyes, trudging silently along.

Eventually, they reached a little clearing, lit dimly by the light filtering through the leaf canopy and glowing faintly from small clusters of mushrooms. Basil immediately went to sniff them, and tap them, and-

"Those are probably poisonous." Wisp muttered, sitting on a stump. They turned their head, nearly startling right off of it.

"GAH!" They swatted at a little ring of keys hovering just behind them. "Don't sneak up on someone like that!"

Basil glanced over, ears perked. "Oh, hello!"

"Watch it!" Wisp snapped at a very large pair of jaws, scrambling off the stump and looking very undignified. Basil laughed, trotting briskly over.

"Sorry about my friend there! They're a little, ah... unsociable." Basil smiled at the grumbling behind them. "It's nice to meet you!"

The Klefki and Mawile exchanged a glance.

"Are you here for sweet wood?" The Mawile asked, and Basil's ears pricked even higher in surprise.

"Oh, you knew? Were you expecting us? Did you sense it or something?"

"It's the only thing anyone ever comes for." The Mawile crossed their arms. Basil chuckled nervously.

"Oh, ah, I see. Well... yes, that's what we're here for." They smiled hopefully at the pair. "We can prove ourselves or something, if you like."

"I think your friend there's already proved plenty."

Basil deflated. "They didn't mean anything by it, really." They looked over their shoulder. "Right, Wisp?"

Wisp grumbled something that almost sounded like an apology.

"C'mon, give these nice folks an apology." Basil turned to nudge them forward, giving them a pleading look.

Wisp sighed loudly, facing the fairies. "I'm sorry."

Basil nudged them. They shot a glare, but continued. "I'm sorry for snapping. You just startled me."

"When you snuck up behind me for no good reason." They muttered under their breath, ignoring a look from Basil.

The Mawile still looked unimpressed, but the Klefki was giving them a long, unreadable look. They hovered down closer to the Mawile's ear, a jingling of keys all Basil could hear as they whispered something to their companion.

"Are you sure?" The Mawile looked very skeptical. Another jingling followed as the Klefki nodded.

A loud sigh, that quite reminded Basil of their own friend.

"Alright, fine. If you think they deserve it."

The Mawile stalked off for a few minutes. Since Wisp was looking especially grumpy, Basil struck up a conversation with the Klefki - who seemed very nice, really!

By the time the Mawile returned with the bark, they were deep in conversation, and Wisp was sitting begrudgingly on the stump again. They exchanged a similarly grumpy glance, before the Mawile dropped the bark at Basil's paws.

"Alright, there you go. You got what you came for."

"Thank you!" Basil grinned, tail twitching. They turned to the Klefki as they scooped up the bark.

"We'll have to come back and visit sometime!" The Klefki jingled happily, and both of them ignored the disgruntled groans of their friends. Seemed like Auntie had been right all along!
