Lancelot’s feet carried him deep into the woods, the curious Meowth’s eyes wide with wonder as he pitter-pattered with purpose. The deeper he went, the more the cat’s sensitive nose began to twitch from a scent that he, honestly, couldn’t quite ignore. He knew it was the ingredient that he had been requested to obtain, and the glows of fae lights up ahead told him that his assumption had to be correct.
As he made it to the clearing, the Meowth’s eyes sparkled at the sight of Cutieflies, Ribombees and Comfeys flying around a special tree in the middle. The aroma honestly stole the Meowth’s heart, but he had to focus-- he needed to ask for some of that bark. He did, however, keep Auntie Appletun’s words in mind: Friendship was key.
As a result, Lance scampered up and introduced himself politely, and asked if there was anything he could do to help the fairy pokemon out. Sure, he couldn’t fly like they could, but some kindness and willingness to help went a long way when it came to convincing others that you’re a good person! His mother had raised him quite well, as naive as he might’ve been about the intentions of others. It wasn’t until he had done a number of favors over the following hours that he even considered the prospect of asking for a favor of his own in return.
However, the darkness of the woods was beginning to get ever darker, and the Meowth was beginning to fret that he might lose his way back to Auntie Appletun’s abode at this rate.
“I hate to trouble you all, but could I please take some of that sweet wood back with me? I was hoping to bake something and…uh…”
His voice trailed off, smiling nervously. One of the Ribombee smiled back, though, and some of them helped the Meowth by giving him a small bundle.
“It’s the least we can do after you’ve helped us out! Though, could you please come visit again once you finish baking? We’d love to see it!”
Lance’s eyes brightened at that. “O-Oh! Sure!! Thank you so very much!”
He would say his farewells for now to the fairy colony, and begin to make his way back before it became far too dark to find his way.
xxxThe moment Auntie Appleturn mentioned the pinkan berry, Honey's eyes lit up. She turned to her trainer, expression begging to please, please please make the pie pink like her! Before then her trainer was hesitant, not a fan of rhubarb pie, but she figured getting pinkan berries wouldn't hurt
xxxThe market was bustling and busy with Halloween spirit when Honey and her trainer came to track down the booth. Honey kept getting distracted by everything around her, and all of the smooth stones she could keep in her pouch. xxxEventually her trainer had to put her on her shoulders to make the trip. The booths around them were buzzing, but this one was... empty. Her trainer made the face she does when she smells something bad.
xxx"Hi!" She chipped her voice up. "How much for a small basket of pinkan berries?" She asked as she tugged out her wallet. The man at the booth waved her away.
xxx"Sorry ma'am, we only barter here. No money allowed. It's tracked, don't'cha know."
xxxHer trainer mumbled something under her breath that she wasn't supposed to as she dug through her pockets. "I... I have nothing. I only have cash. Are you sure,"
xxx"Company policy."
xxxHoney thought about what her trainer had just done. Tried to trade one thing for another. Honey demanded to be put down with a squirm, leading her trainer to place her on the booth stand just for a moment. The booth man looks over Honey, and Honey stares at him, before pulling out one of the stones she found.
xxx"Oh, Honey, darling," Her trainer hesitated. "You don't need to, it's not going to work-"
xxxThe booth man swiped up stone before her trainer could grab it. "My-oh-my." He tilts the stone in the light. "Where did you find this, little one?"
xxxHoney points at the dusty path.
xxx"Would you trade this with me for a basket of pinkan berries?"
xxxHoney eagerly nods. Her trainer just smiles.
xxxThe berries are a bright pink in their little basket as Honey and her trainer walk back to Auntie Appleturn's. Honey is allowed to eat just one, and the juice barely shows smeared on her happy face.
Hearing about such a tasty and delectable treat, this nickit's eyes were set on a new prize.. a marshtomp glove! He knew it would take some convincing if he were to obtain it from a merchant. Why would someone just randomly want an ingredient like this? Of course, Stolas wasn't the type for negotiation- why waste the time when you can just steal?
The same evening, he learned of auntie applin's need of help, he set out to the market right away --
Once he found the stall, Stolas waited until the merchant was occupied with other customers. The sly Pokémon was swift in jumping up onto the stall, grab a few cloves and begin to run off into the crowd.
Hopefully, those spores don't pop.
"I want a pink pie mom!!" Uno jumped up and down, looking up at his mother. His tail wagging. "Pleaseeee we need to get the Pinkan Berries for it!"
Fruity laughed softly. "A pink pie? I thought you would want another color..." she trailed off.
"I want to make a pink pie for Blossom!!" Uno replied, talking about his sister.
Fruity's heart melted god, Uno was such a sweet brother. She smiled softly. "Okay, let's go get Pinkan Berries then.... Auntie said it might be hard to get some. We need something to trade them for... Let's go look around the woods for something to trade for them..."
"Okay mom!!" Uno raced towards the wood, starting to flip over rocks to see if anything good was under them.
Fruity laughed softly, watching her son flip over rocks as she wandered into a clover field... Oh maybe they could trade the berries for a four leaf clover? She settled down in the field, starting to look over the clovers... so many clovers....
Uno bounded over to his mother, curious on what she was doing. "Mom! It's no time to rest! We gotta find something to trade for!" He huffed.
"I'm searching for a four leaf clover... I'm pretty sure we can trade for the berries if we find one." Fruity replied, moving slightly to look over another group of clovers.
"Mom!! That's a great idea!! Four leaf clovers are so rare we can totally trade for the berries if we find one!" Uno gasped, fluffing up as he began to search the clovers.
Time went by as the Mom and Son searched the clovers, Uno taking a nap in between searching... suddenly; Uno let out a loud gasp. "Mom!! I found one!" He grinned, picking it and holding it in his mouth.
Fruity slowly stood up and smiled. "Let's go trade for the berries then. Good job Uno." She praised her son as they went to the market. The merchant happily traded a small basket of Pinkan Berries for the four leaf clover and the mother and son went back to Auntie Appletun's cabin.
