Today's Prompt: Tell me about one of your favourite mythological figures!: Going with creature instead of figure since It's hard for me to choose a figure exactly. Changelings! I've always had great comfort with the changeling mythology ever since I was a child.

Changelings are fae children which have been put in the place of human babies, and grow differently; including physical aspects as well as mental aspects. One of the big tells of a changeling child in irish and scottish mythology is that they display behavior such as jumping, dancing, or playing instruments when believed to be alone. Additionally, in some stories changelings are identified due to having a horrible smell all of the time. In other stories, changeling children never grow up at all! I always have found comfort in these stories in a strange way, so I've always really leaned towards them moreso than any other mythological figure!

Today's Prompt: Tell me about one of your favourite mythological figures!: Y Ddraig Goch, the red dragon on the Welsh flag! As the legend goes, there were once two dragons, one white and one red, who would fight terribly with cries so loud that living creatures were struck barren. The British king Lludd had to solve the problem, as it was one of three plagues that struck his country. He dug a trap for the dragons at the center of Oxford, with a curtain of satin covering a pit and mead at the bottom. The dragons fought until they fell into the pit, drank the mead, and fell asleep, where they were wrapped up in the satin and carried them to be entombed in Dinas Emrys.
Some time later, the warlord Vortigern, fleeing from the Anglo-Saxons, set up a secured fort in Dinas Emrys. However, every time his workers built a tower, it would crumble the next day. Vortigern’s advisors told him to find a boy with no father and kill him at the site where the tower was to be built. Vortigern found such a boy, but upon hearing what was to happen he instead told Vertigern that the real reason the tower was collapsing was because of two dragons fighting underneath. When they dig the foundation up, that’s precisely what they discover! Vortigern watches the dragons fight, and while the white dragon started out with the upper hand, the red dragon overpowers it. The boy tells him that the white dragon represents the Anglo-Saxons and the red dragon represents his people. The boy’s name was Myrddin, or as people today might be more familiar with, Merlin.
