Prompt: 8. Where does your pokemon live? Do they have a house? Live with a trainer? Etc.

(1870)

It was a big house, green with a dark green roof; the paint was weathered and sun-damaged, flaking off on some of the many corners. It was not a mansion, but it was not small, and upon entering it, one would think it was a lot bigger on the inside than the outside. But this was non more than an optical illusion. Victorian mixed with modern colonial, it stood high, with three floors and an attic, no basement. Or maybe there was one hidden away. There were plenty of windows, but they were small and did not let in any good amount of light, except on the western (left) side where the owner, Jenna, kept her terrariums.
Three terrariums, each bigger than the last, an unoccupied desert area fit for any ground or rock pokemon, a swampy marsh terrarium home to a large Politoad, Weedle, and a Goodra/Driftloon. Along with a hazardous amount of bugs, some of which had wormed their ways into the walls of the grand home. The final terrarium house a single Arbok, who was less than friendly, having the whole jungle area to himself. Sometimes the other pokemon would sneak in only to be snapped at and borderline attacked by the hostile Arbok.

Once inside the home, one would enter a long halfway, with the original white paint still clinging desperately to the walls. To the right was a small, very dark living room containing a withered rug and an even more withered faux leather couch atop it that, if one were to sit in, they would sink to the bottom and never be recovered. There were three pillows on the couch, two without coverings and mysterious stains from some sort of food or drink on them. Across from the couch was an ancient television; it was a miracle the thing still worked, let alone was even in color. Two bent wires stuck up from it, and a number of action figures were perched atop it.
Down the hall a little was another room on the right, connected to the living room too, housing a number of boxes that had never been unpacked and might never will be. The room had a surprising amount of natural light, but that may be partially due to the light-colored floral wallpaper. There was also a painted-over fireplace that had not worked in ages. The room would have been good for a nursery and was such for the previous owners. Across that room was a simple oak door, scratched up and locked. The key had come with the house, but Jenna had forgotten about it and lost it.
At the end of the hallway was the kitchen; it was the most modern thing in the house, with fancy new appliances that the old owners had put in. Dishwasher, refrigerator with a built-in freezer, dryer, and washer too. The counters were butcher block and slightly sticky to the touch. Cabinets that closed silently when closed hung above the counters and sat below, too; they were from a general furniture store but were painted a harsh white to disguise their cheapness. The floor was white matte tiles with the strange choice of black grout. Making it so that they had to be cleaned regularly or any speck of dirt would be seen. The backsplash was also white but subway tile with a sparklyish light grey grout. The rest of said walls were a kind of light chocolatey color.
If one was to go back to the entrance of the home and go to the left this time, they would find themselves ascending a creaky thin set of stairs with a banister that wobbled nervously when it was touched. Upon ascending the stairs fully, one would once again be met with a long hallway branching off into different rooms. To the left were three doors, each leading into the terrariums, desert, swamp, and jungle, respectively. The wall on that side had been damaged from where mold was removed, the water systems for the terrariums leaked. But since its both the water system and the mold was fixed, the house came into a much better state. At the end of the hallway was a large bedroom containing Jenna. There were a number of pokemon beds scattered about the floor, and the blue and pink walls were covered in bookshelves housing books read many times over and not at all. The bed itself was somewhere between a king and a California king in order for the pokemon to sleep in Jenna’s bed with her. But sleeping with a large Vikavolt does not leave much room. Fake vines hung from the ceiling, and some stuffed animals were piled atop the bed. There was also a small desk where makeup and a gamer pc and recording equipment sat crowded together. The makeup was almost completely untouched.
Going back into the hall on the right wall next to Jenna was a medium-sized room; black sound-dampening foam was plastered to the walls. And expensive-looking recording equipment and musical instruments stood proudly. Jenna was not the best musician; in fact, many would consider her to be bad, but she had fun and took pride in her work which is what really mattered in the end. Back out in the hallway, which had no paintings or any sort of decoration hanging, there was one more room near the stairs. Upon entering it, one would see a number of pokemon toys scattered about and a steep flight of stairs plastered against the right-hand wall.
Going up the stairs would lead into the third story, which was completely open, besides the bathroom in the northwest corner. The only walls were that of the outside of the house. The room itself was a mixture between a lounge area and a pokeplay room. Toys and treats were skewn about, along with more pokemon beds for those that did not like to sleep in Jenna’s room. Compared to the rest of the house, this room was modern, much like the kitchen. But instead of the old owners having fixed it up, Jenna had. Jenna was very slowly repairing the home that she had inadvertently caused to fall into disarray, and this was the first room she had fixed up. The second was her bedroom; sleeping on a couch was not doing wonders for her. Followed by the terrariums, all of the rooms she had done herself.
The room housed a large flat screen tv, but Jenna just used the one downstairs as this one was broken from Gremlin smacking into it. The floor was a whitish tan carpet, very soft to the touch. The furniture, more faux leather couches, were all new and slightly broken into. Upon the ceiling was a pulldown hatch revealing a set of stairs where one could climb into the attic, which was dusty and gross. Filled with boxes that many previous owners had left behind.

It was a nice house that had fallen into disarray from the inexperience of a child, now set to be repaired by her. The house had grown wrathful because of this, it did not understand the foolishness of a child, but she was doing her best to regain the home's trust and love.

The leaves in Alola don't change, but it was fall or just beginning to befall. The large greenhouse stood somewhere between proud and falling apart in the large open field it resided in. Jenna, with Bart resting neatly on her shoulder, strode through the tall uncut grass and to the black front door, unlocking it with an old key, she always had meant to replace the locks, but she knew she would get around to it eventually. Leaving the door unlocked, she strode about to the back of the house to a tiny grey shed that was half falling down. Pulling at the door, it would not budge. So she pulled again and again until it came flying off the hinges, causing her to fly backward onto her bottom. Standing and dusting herself off she pulled a green hand push mower out of the container. It was old and rusty, the unpowered type. Pulling a bottle of sunscreen out of her back pocket, she rubbed it on her face and already burnt shoulders, the cold slime soothing them.
The sun was halfway dipping below the horizon as she finished. Sitting upon the small stoop of the porch of the grand greenhouse, she looked across the now cut field. Something about it made her sad to see the pants cut and scattered about the yard, but she knew that it made the house happy. She also knew that the Murkrow that hovered in the trees above would swoop down tomorrow and take the clippings to build their nests and raise their young. Standing and stretching, she picked Bart off her lap; placing him upon her head, she took the soup bowls that they had been eating and returned them to the kitchen before heading off to bed.

The one thing she hated about the house was the stairs. She especially hated caring the heavy junk-filled boxes up to the attic from the first floor. She had almost fallen down the flights more than once but luckily did not.
Now standing in the empty room that had once been a nursery, she plucked up to wallpaper peeler and got to work, Bart the white, brown, and orange Grubbin sleeping peacefully in the middle of the room with Bumble the Skitty/Alcremie and her girlfriend, Shiny the Litten.
There were three layers of wallpaper, each uglier than the last and all floral patterns. The topmost was a very light baby pink color, the second a bright orange, and the last a deep teal with red roses. Jenna really enjoyed peeling the paper, having set up her phone to take a timelapse that she would post to Reddit and TikTok later for those sweet, sweet internet points. It was difficult scraping at first, but she got better quickly as she went along, going faster and faster with practice. Once she was done, the walls were left barren, and she the shavings were almost so high she needed to wade through them. But she swept them up and took them out to the trash. One could almost feel the house sigh that the wallpaper was gone. It was like a snake or reptile shedding its skin.
Laying down painting mats and shoeing the pokemon out of the room, she cracked open the creaky sticky windows and turned on the fan. The pain she had chosen was a light blueish teal color, light and fluffy in feeling. She did not really mind the paint getting on her or her clothes; this was her crafting outfit, after all, and she could always wash it off in the bathroom on the third floor. Making another bathroom was on her list of things to do, but she did not know where to put it, maybe in this room. First, she needed to just get it suitable. But that was another project for another day, and so was finishing this room. Painting and cramping had taken much longer than Jenna had expected.

Prompt:
August Prompt: what would this Pokémon have in their backpack?
Fawkes runs through their mental checklist. Why they agreed to accompany Stella on this “Journey of Education” but for a day? They had no idea.

They opened their backpack, a dark colored bag that was nearly falling apart, with burns and scorch marks and scratches all over. It was a witness to the many Fawkes’ experiments.

“Stella… said fun things… what are fun things…” Fawkes muttered, then their eyes fell upon their closet and then upon their desk drawer.

“Hmm…” The Zorua thought, walking over to the closet, careful to not tread upon the cloak hanging from the closet door. “Let’s see…”

Fawkes tapped their chin, sifting through the pile of boxes behind the doors, nearly falling into them. “I think some normal pencils would be good.” They say, grabbing a handful and a half. The Dark type then considers a giant stack of notebooks, then proceeds to throw the whole stack into their bag.

“That should be one for every class. Stella said she had like five hundred of them.” They shrugged.

The Zorua dug some more, pulling out things of Silly String, glitter glue, tubes of hot glue, toddler scissors, a single leaf, and a Power Rangers lunchbox (fire included!). They threw them all into their bag.

Next, Fawkes spent a good half hour searching for their single bag of Silly Bands, deciding that if the school’s handbook did not say they were banned… they were okay. They also grabbed a rubber band ball, just in case. If they got caught for Silly Band crimes, they could add the bands to the ball.

The Dark type rummaged through their closet some more, finding only objects of little interest - half of a fireball, a book called How to Yeet Like a Pro, a single penny, and a baton, to name a few.

“That should be everything here.” Fawkes nodded, then moved towards their desk.

They tossed a whole box of Hot and Spicy Oreos, a bottle of jalepenos, along with their collection of Mr. Sketch markers and Target Brand Hilighters. They gently placed a half-melted box of Offbrand Crayola Crayons into their bag’s front pocket.

They grabbed the half-eaten notebook paper (Paynt had thought it was a snack) where Stella had scribbled in permanent blue Sharpie, the names of the books he would need. There were only two, Stars Aligned by someone named Gigi and Shiver me Cinders by someone named Ace. Fawkes shrugged, found the copies in their bookshelf, and tossed em into the bag. As an afterthought, they added Chemistry and You: Explosive Edition to the mix.

Fawkes sat back, admiring the overflowing backpack and rubbing their paws together, “Good work… good work.” They smiled.

The next day…

They were walking Stella to school, preparing themselves to sit in a tiny chair next to the Cherrim. Fawkes sighed, still wondering how they got into this mess, though they were happy to do so. It’s been a while since they’ve been in a classroom.

“Hey uh, Fawkes?” Stella asked, as they were walking up the school steps.

“Yes?” The Zorua asked.

“Your backpack is smoking. And uh… smoldering. It’s on fire. Did you bring a whole fire.” Stella pointed.

“Would you be surprised if I did?” Fawkes said calmly, turning around to take the bag off and taking it to the nearest water fountain.

“Hm… not really?” Stella said, hopefully.

“Thanks for the vote of confidence.” Fawkes laughed, playfully swatting the Cherrim with their tail.

“Hey! It is on fire!” Stella retorted, hitting Fawkes’ tail away with a giggle.

“No. I didn’t bring a whole fire. Intentionally, that is. But here we are. A whole fire.”

Pokemon being used/link: Sai [DV#008] & Birdie
Archive: xx
Prompt:
Lovebug Prompt
[ 630 words ]

Sai never thought she'd fall in love.

Not romantically, anyway; she'd long since fallen in love with her trainer and the rest of the team as her best friends in the world. She couldn't imagine a life without them travelling and fighting by her side.

But Birdie… Birdie was different.

They met the way Sai met most pokemon - via battling. Normally, in a wild encounter like that one, she could assume she'd never see whoever they'd just fought again, whether they'd lost or won or just run away. It was just the nature of their lifestyle; they were travellers, after all, and these mons had homes to return to.

Birdie was, again, different. She'd been a tough little Buneary, at the time (while she herself had just been a Riolu), but eventually she'd lost the battle and Sai and her trainer had moved on.

Another route down the path, they'd run into her again. And it was unmistakably her, not just some other Buneary - the markings, that look of determination on her face… even her trainer had recognized her immediately.

So they'd fought again, and Birdie had lost again. But of course, that wasn't the end of it. She continued following them for a long while, sneaking stealthily through routes Buneary weren't even native to, encountering them among Pokemon of steadily increasing levels. It seemed she was growing stronger, too.

Eventually, Sai actually found herself looking forward to running into her each day. She'd peek around bushes and trees as she walked with her trainer, hoping to catch a glimpse of the Buneary before she attacked. Of course, she never did - every time Birdie managed to surprise her.

Until one day, she actually won.

When Sai woke up in the pokemon center, she was surprised. Their little rhythm had gone on for so long - Birdie would jump out at them, they'd battle, she'd lose. Rinse and repeat just about every single day. She'd hoped this wouldn't mean they'd never see each other again. She'd grown quite… fond of her.

The next time they saw each other, Birdie was a Lopunny, and Sai was a Lucario.

It hadn't actually been that long, considering. But it felt like forever - especially since they used to see each other nearly everyday, and Sai hadn't been sure they'd ever even see each other again.

And when she did see her, standing there in front of them, ready to fight again… for some reason, she found herself blushing.

Soon she'd realized something else was different this time. She could tell Birdie wasn't really trying, not the way she usually did. She wasn't after winning this time.

Sai felt something flutter inside her. Birdie wanted to… stay with them. Stay with her.

She'd barked back at her trainer; with a glance, they'd understood. And when they'd thrown that pokeball, Birdie looking back at her, smiling… Sai had never felt that way before in her life.

But she kept feeling that way for a long time, travelling across the region with her trainer on one side, Birdie on the other. They'd been so happy together, the three of them and the rest of the team. Sai would give up just about anything to go back.

Things weren't so bad now, though. Birdie had always stuck by her - after they'd lost their trainer; when she'd felt so lost, like there was nowhere else to go in the world.

Birdie had always been by her side, through the good and the bad, whether she'd entirely realized it or not. And she knew there was nobody she could depend on more.

Sai had long since fallen in love. And she intended to always be there for Birdie, the way she'd always been there for her.

Prompt:
6. What is your Pokémon backstory/history? Where did they come from? Did they originally live somewhere else?
[ 1,114 words ]

"All hands on deck!"

Kraken had been here longer than many of the crewmates aboard this ship.

"Batten down the hatches!"

She'd heard everything. Seen everything.

"Let's make up the leeway, everybody!"

She never could've asked for anything better.

***

It had been a long, hard day for Pichu - and it was looking to be a cold night as well. With a sigh, she grabbed the tattered remains of her nesting blanket; there'd been rumours going around that something was going to hit the village streets one of these nights, and nobody sticking around outside would be safe. Despite the extra cold the sea air would bring in on the wind, the docks were probably her safest bet for the next little while - at least until things cleared up. Though she wasn't particularly looking forward to sleeping on those hard old wooden docks.

And when she got there, she wasn't surprised. It looked about as comfortable as she'd expected, and a sharp chill was already cutting through her short fur. The scent of salt and fish hung thickly in the air, and boats lulled softly by the piers, all tied in for the night. Pichu watched for a moment, slightly entranced by the soft bobbing back and forth, the moonlight and stars glittering into the dark abyss below.

Those boats looked awfully warm and cozy, compared to the worn boardwalks threatening to splinter her paws… and the lulling almost reminded her of a mother rocking her baby, back and forth to soothe it.

Maybe if she could sneak aboard…

With a brief moment of thought, wrapping her blanket around herself best she could to keep out the wind, she steeled herself. A quick look around, a twitch of her tail, and she was off - bounding more clumsily than sneakily into the nearest ship. Miraculously (or at least it felt that way), she went unnoticed.

And was she ever glad that she was. The boat wasn't quite as comfy as she'd expected, but after making a nest out of her blanket in a pile of boxes she'd found in the corner, it wasn't half bad. It was a bit better than her usual sleeping spots, actually. And the gentle rocking was just as pleasant as she'd expected. With the soothing sound of the ocean lapping against the docks, and the moon dimly slitting into the small room she was nestled in, she was fast asleep in no time.

When she awoke, things were much different.

"Well now, that's a mighty big one!"

Pichu twitched her ears at the sudden yell, hunkering down lower into her makeshift nest. It didn't seem like she'd been found out; not yet, anyway. But there was a lot happening, and apparently many people on board, so it was probably best to get out of here before someone eventually did catch her.

But as she peeked very carefully out of her small compartment and onto the deck below, she realized that was going to be a much bigger problem than she'd thought.

The docks were nowhere to be seen. All she could see, everywhere she looked, was just…

Water.

Sparking with alarm, she skittered backwards into her boxes. What was she supposed to do now? How was she supposed to get home? If she was lucky the boat would return there on its own, but how could she stay hidden for that long? Surely they would find her at some point - and she would need to find food eventually.

Slightly panicked, she wrapped herself around in her blanket, face buried in her tiny paws. She'd just wanted somewhere comfortable to sleep, was all. She hadn't expected all of this.

Then suddenly, light. She glanced up more quickly than she'd prepared to, catching a glimpse of someone standing in the now fully-open doorway.

The person stared back.

Pichu made the most intimidating stance she could, cheeks sparking with warning - and the person laughed. Their hands were held up in defense, and they'd stayed away. But they were laughing.

Confused, Pichu wilted slightly. She wasn't sure how to react to this. Were they a threat? They didn't seem angry to find her here, stowed away on their ship. Then again, it could've been some sort of evil laugh…

Before she could think to zap them, the person had stepped over in a few terribly long strides to scoop her up off the floor and away from her protective blanket. She stared at them in surprise.

For a moment, they stared back, although they seemed much more curious than surprised. They smiled down at her, and when she still didn't zap them, they gently ruffled the fur on top of her head.

And then… wind. More wind than she'd ever felt all at once.

Once they'd stepped out onto the deck, Pichu in the stranger's arms, she really felt the sea. The salty wind ruffling her fur, blue waves stretching out as far as she could see, a dozen crew members bustling around.

But it seemed they were much more interested in her than their various tasks, once they'd begun to notice her nestled in their crewmate's arms.

It took a few minutes of cooing and laughing and the gently rocking sea for her to realize that she maybe should be scared of all these people swarming around, chatting loudly and patting her head.

But she just… wasn't. She was having a blast, actually - she couldn't remember the last time she'd felt this good!

And that feeling carried throughout the day - by the time the ship had docked, she'd been fed, her blanket repaired, and a love for the sea discovered. She'd even found a little nickname from the crew - Kraken, they'd called her. After she'd maybe bitten someone on the finger. It had been a startling day, as much as it had been a good one.

Kraken never did see that crew again; at least, not all of them together. Several times she'd run into one or two, even three of them on a ship she'd stowed away on, and they'd laugh and tell the others her tale.

And she'd stowed away on many boats, after that first one. On purpose, this time - it was great fun, exploring the seas and feeling the gentle lull of the ocean beneath her paws. Over many ship rides, she'd evolved, made a few new friends, gained a proper eyepatch.

She may be on break now, but someday… someday she'll return to the sea. And until then, she'll have her memories to look back on and remember everything she'd loved about it.

Everything she still loved about it.

Pokemon being used/link: Wisp & Basil

Prompt:
11. Draw/Write about a scene of your choice
[ 685 words ]

"I want you to teach me that."

Wisp scowled before they could process who had spoken, though they didn't turn to show that. It only took a moment to realize who it was, anyway.

Basil.

"You know the move I'm talking about, the one with all that purple and the aura. You really knocked 'em out back there!"

Letting their scowl deepen, Wisp tilted their head back slightly to shoot the Leafeon a glance. It didn't seem they'd be able to get rid of them, though - it seemed like they were in one of those moods again.

As if they'd read their mind, and wanted to confirm that suspicion with a resounding yes, Basil flicked their ears up in anticipation. Wisp could already see them trying to squash down their astonishment for a more… tactical approach.

Not that it really mattered what front they put up. Wisp knew why they were really here - to be a huge nerd about ghosts again.

"Really, I almost wasn't sure we were going to get away there, and then-"

"Basil." Wisp sighed, leaving a long enough pause that the Leafeon was left staring at them, tail quivering slightly.

"If I try to teach you some silly move, will you leave me alone?"

Basil perked up again immediately, eyes shining. "Oh, you'd do that? That would be amazing, I…"

They trailed off a moment, letting their ears droop slightly. "Well, I'd love it if you'd teach me, but, like, no guarantees I'd leave you alone. Not for too long, anyway."

They grinned sheepishly, wandering further into the little cubby Wisp had claimed as their own quiet, private place (whenever Basil wasn't hanging around in it, anyway).

"I think you're very interesting. As like, a friend, not just because… you know." They came and nudged them on the shoulder with a paw. "And anyway, we, like, live together, so you kinda signed up to hang out with all of us once in a while."

Wisp recoiled slightly at the touch, but they didn't move. After brief consideration, they didn't ask Basil to move, either. "I have more of a problem with you than with any of the others at the moment."

Basil huffed playfully, keeping out of their personal space this time. "Aw, c'mon, you don't mean that. I had you talking about candles for like, a whole hour straight the other day!"

Wisp glared at them, pointedly ignoring that they were surrounded by their own collection of delicately arranged candles as they did so.

"We always have fun and you know it." Basil laughed, getting up with a flick of their tail. "Now come on, let's go try out some of your moves!"

They paused, turning back in front of the entrance nook. "I mean, if you weren't doing anything already."

They actually hadn't been doing much of anything when Basil had strolled in unannounced, and by the look in their eye they knew that perfectly well already.

Still, they heaved a sigh, as though they'd been in the middle of something important, or anything interesting at all. "Fine. Let's get this over with."

Basil grinned, slipping outside to wait for them. Wisp shook their head - they wouldn't go quite yet; they didn't want to look too eager to sit around outside trying to fulfill Basil's weird interests.

But they knew they'd probably enjoy it, once they started. Basil was a quick learner, and pretty good company, if they allowed them to be.

After a couple moments contemplating, they sighed softly, rising quietly to their paws. They could feel strange about it later - for now, they were going to go have a pleasant time with their friend, and hopefully teach them something new. If nothing else, they would probably be quite happy about their attempts. And then Wisp would be hearing about it for days, but… it'd still be worth it.

Allowing themself a small smile under the plumes of their fur, Wisp slipped outside, squinting slightly at the light.

It was going to be a good day. And they were going to let it be.

“Alright Pokemon, breakfast!”

Benito’s head jerked upwards as he’s pulled out of sleep. Breakfast time! The Fuecoco leaped to his feet, waddling over to the student placing bowls of food onto the ground. He was at the back of the pack, with all the other Fuecocos, Quaxlys, and Sprigatitos also clamoring for food as if they didn’t get four meals a day. As soon as he reached the the bowls of food, Benito gobbled down as much as he could before his stomach started hurting. Which was… a lot. So much so that he never has been able to get to the point where his stomach hurt because he’d run out of food.

After all the food was gone and Benito licked the bowl clean, he waddled back to the middle of the field to plop down and let the sun warm his belly. The academy’s research center provided everything a young Pokemon could desire - food, plenty of spaces to sunbathe, trees to climb, pools to splash around in, and constant playtime with any student who can’t currently have a Pokemon of their own. Benito was more than willing to take advantage of the first two advantages, and especially the last. He couldn’t decide who was his favorite visiting student. They were all just so fun to play with!

The other Pokemon cycled in and out, so Benito never had many permanent friends. He was quite a popular Pokemon to be around though if you wanted to play games or share a snack. He was sure to greet any new faces with a smile and a treat. Benito always wondered where his friends would leave to though. What new adventures would they have? Where were they even headed? All he knew is that every so often, three Pokemon, a Fuecoco, Quaxly, and Sprigatito, were chosen to enter their Pokeballs and leave for a daytrip. Well, two of them that is. The third was gone, and the other Pokemon would tell an elaborate story to the gathering Pokemon of a trainer who came from afar to have a Pokemon join them on an epic adventure. Benito loved the school, but always had to wonder, who would choose him someday? And where would their adventure lead them? He couldn’t quite picture the places, but images of tasty foods filled his mind with ease. Hopefully his trainer would love food just as much as he did!

Prompt:
4. Draw or Describe your pokemon's pokeball! (Art Piece)
5. What is your Pokémons personality? (Writing)
7. What are your pokemon’s relationships with others like? (Writing + Art Piece)

(7)
Bayleef and Axew are good friends! Their trainer often finds them cuddled up together, especially in unfamiliar places or cold areas. Sometimes Bayleef will even let Axew ride on their back.
Axew will often 'scout' on Bayleef's back, looking around the surrounding area for any possible danger.
While the two aren't super close to the other Pokemon; they enjoy each other's company greatly.
When Axew is misbehaving, Bayleef will use their vines to grab him and carry him up in the air, so he can't cause more problems for the group. Sometimes, Axew misbehaves simply to be carried like that - Sometimes it's fun, even if it's meant to be a punishment of sorts.

These two were good friends even before being in a team together - They met while Bayleef was still a small Chikorita, and were taken in by their trainer together. They're hardly ever apart!

5 (Bayleef)
Bayleef could be described as playful and curious for the most part!
They love to play games with trainers and other pokemon - Their favorite simply being chase. Though, they've gotten in a fair amount of fights due to that.
Bayleef is very friendly and likes to think everyone is a friend - Even when they're not. They'll try to befriend everyone they see, even when being rejected time and time again. They usually will stop after a bit, but they are fairly persistent with their attempts.
They also love to help with gardening and tending to children - Pokemon and human alike! They're very gentle and caring, making them perfect to help with babysitting!
(112 words!)

5 (Axew)
Axew is fairly friendly, but also very protective of his friends and family. He often tries to scout ahead and watch for any possible danger, following Bayleef around due to their persistent friendliness so he can help them when they get into trouble. He's skeptical of others - Especially trainers, due to being taken from his current trainer one time. He will forever be glad for that ending in him back home, and not with the strangers who took him.
Axew, despite his protectiveness, is also quite lazy. While on adventures, he'll find himself dozing off while being carried by someone else. He doesn't mean to be lazy - But he can't help but feel tired constantly. He's not entirely sure why.

Pokemon being used/link: Tiger
Archive: here for Heartcatch
Prompt:
6. What is your Pokémon backstory/history? Where did they come from? Did they originally live somewhere else?

Originally, Tiger was born from an egg identical to his brothers and sisters except that his brothers and sisters are Growlithes! His birth surprised his whole family. Yes, Tiger was red with black stripes like his family, but he was a little pig, not a puppy! His parents and his breeder were at first very surprised. Then, the sister of his trainer came up with a hypothesis. Some time before hatching, a huge storm took place, and ravaged part of the farm. No doubt Tiger's egg was lost at that time, and put back in the wrong place. The brother and sister decided to look around to see if anyone had lost an egg recently, but no one claimed Tiger, so the farmer family decided to keep this little pig extraordinary. Immediately, Tiger set about helping out on the farm as best he could. He began to search for truffles like a pig, and even herd cattle like a dog. He was really special. Tiger has also become the mascot of the family farm where he resides. He wouldn't leave her for anything in the world. His presence was also like a ray of sunshine and happiness on the farm.

This is going to be a LOT of prompts, so I'll include a TL;DR at the bottom for the word counts as well just in case.

Pokemon being used/link: Lance - Here!
Prompt:
Monthly 2. It's back to school time! Describe what your pokemon's school schedule looks like. ** [100 words min] **
411 Words!
Code: Select all
Prince Lancelot’s ‘schedule’ is a bit peculiar, on account of him not formally attending a school. His ‘royal curriculum’, as he calls it, technically counts as some form of homeschooling. At least, that’s what his mother begrudgingly calls it when trying to justify it in her own head. Lance has never particularly argued it, but he does note that the lessons that his servants try to instill upon the growing prince tend to occur in a particular order.

During breakfast, the Meowth is typically lectured on proper eating etiquette for a public setting-- of which he will often ignore, to his father’s chagrin. Its rather amusing, actually. This usually leads to some sort of long winded lecture about what it means to be a king, in which Lance tends to doze off or space out. As you can clearly see, Lance is a picture perfect student when it comes to learning to rule.

They try to teach him proper etiquette again around lunch, but failing that (they usually do) the maids and butlers will instead elect to teach Lance about the history of his family. This, surprisingly enough, always will get Lancelot’s attention and he will typically pay attention as best as he can. He’ll even bother to ask questions! This could be called his ‘favorite subject’, in a manner of speaking. As this is what tends to get through to him the most, this tends to be what Lance learns the most of throughout the day.

The afternoon is full of attempts at getting Lancelot to commit to either lessons on diplomacy or public etiquette, both with varying results. Whichever isn’t attempted is usually the choice for the following day, barring any arguments between Lance and his father that given day. That being said, the servants are always on the lookout for some way to sneak the lessons into the prince’s relaxation time, just to get the king off their backs.

On the weekends, Lance instead has some level of combat training that is overseen by Orphelius all morning-- this is probably the only thing that Lance elects to take seriously outside of his impromptu history lessons. On very rare occasions, these can lead to the Meowth taking his other lessons for the day a bit more seriously…but don’t count on it. More likely, Lancelot will spend the remainder of his weekend trying to get his mother to share some stories about his brother instead of following his father’s itinerary.

Monthly 3. Draw or describe your pokemon’s favorite class/course! ** [colored sketch fullbody or 100 words min] **
229 Words!
Code: Select all
Lancelot, technically speaking, does not attend a formal school. Instead, he has had to put up with a curriculum to help him prepare to one day take over House Blackmyre as king. He largely hates this, and honestly finds most of this to be rather boring and tedious nonsense that he’d much rather not put up with.

HOWEVER, there is a single part of his curriculum that the Meowth actively enjoys, and that is learning about the history of the royal family. You’d think that,  of all things, would be the actual snooze festival for Lance. This is not the case, however! His father was always so fixated on teaching him about how to be king that Lance really never got the opportunity to learn more about who his dad was before becoming the current ruler.

King Antonidas never talked about his own dad, or how he came to meet Lance’s mom, or any of that nonsense. Without all of the history lectures that Lance’s servants have to put him through, the man wouldn’t have ever even known that he actually had an aunt to begin with! As a result, Lance finds these lectures to be rather helpful and informative, as he would otherwise not really have any way to learn about what his own family is like outside of his jerk of a brother and his obsessive father.

Pokemon being used/link: Kuri - Here!
Prompt:
Monthly 2. It's back to school time! Describe what your pokemon's school schedule looks like. ** [100 words min] **
810 Words!
Code: Select all
Kuri was formerly enrolled at Blackmyre Knighthood Academy, which was quite the prestigious school-- it was where anyone that aspired to become a royal knight went to have the best odds of being scouted. Even if you didn’t become a royal knight, odds are that you wouldn’t have any difficulty landing a job as a guard in the future so long as you did a good job during the academy.

This was how Kuri managed to squeeze into life as a guard for House Blackmyre, actually, as his usual bouts of laziness definitely don’t earn him any points here. Back when he was in BKA, though, he was actually just as laser focused on success as his brother Kreid! His mornings would start with him eating on the way to History Class, often accompanied by Kreid where the two would constantly quiz one another with various trivia regarding their upcoming tests for the class. After Kreid met Ophelia, this became less and less frequent-- but Kuri was still seen protectively trailing after Kreid until they got to class in the morning time.

It would be several hours before History ended, which would be when the two brothers would always be forced to part ways. Unlike the rest of the day, Kuri always left Kreid’s side relatively early during the small intermission break between classes just so he could arrive as early as possible to Combat Training. He always had to sit out of any and all proper demonstrations during the class proper, but if he got there early enough then he could catch a glimpse of the instructor practicing. Sometimes, if he was lucky, he would even get some personal one-on-one practice with the instructor herself. No one took the Joltik seriously when it came to actual combat aside from his instructor-- not that he minded.

These tiny opportunities to practice were more than enough to make up for hours of not being allowed to join in on practice spars, and Kuri himself was actually at the top of his particular class when it came to grades for Combat Training. It was pretty ironic, but he’d show them all what he truly could do If and when his brother Kreid got picked on at school.

After Combat Training was lunchtime-- of which Kuri often spent still at the arena with his instructor, usually with his own bento box that he made at home. Kreid would come to visit him here and watch his brother practice, which gave the Joltik some much needed confidence in his work ethic. Even when Kreid began to hang out more with Ophelia, the two would always come to eat lunch at the arena just so they could watch Kuri practice-- plus, Kreid would be coming here after lunch anyway. It only made sense.

Following lunch, the two brothers would once again part ways and Kuri would head to Protection class. It wasn’t exactly a class that Kuri -excelled- at, but it was one he still did his best in. Some of the things he learned in Protection class would go on to help him during Combat Training anyway, so it never hurt for him to focus up and try to absorb some knowledge…even if he was subjected to the same fate of not being allowed to be a part of the proper demonstrations and practice due to his abysmal size difference compared to his peers.

The two would meet up again during the small transition break to their final classes of the day. The two classrooms were across the hall from one another, so it was actually pretty convenient! It meant that Kuri could always check up on Kreid at the end of school without any trouble, and he could come to his brother’s aid (and vice versa) if one of them got sick or something in class.

Diplomacy was a course that Kuri enjoyed. It kind of helped that he was actually able to participate in this one without his size being cited as a cause for concern! He was actually extremely well spoken, and he was well liked among his peers-- at least, when they weren’t busy teasing him about his smallness. His presence lit up the room, even when he wasn’t actually talking, and it was perhaps his second favorite course in his time attending BKA.

When the academy ended for the day, Kreid would always come to see Kuri in the front of the Diplomacy lecture hall. The two brothers would always walk home together-- except on Mondays and Wednesdays, wherein Kuri would stay behind at school and attend Poetry Club. It turned out that Diplomacy had made quite the writer out of the young Joltik, and it was something for him to fall back on if he ever truly needed to retire from life as a guard in the future.

Monthly 3. Draw or describe your pokemon’s favorite class/course! ** [colored sketch fullbody or 100 words min] **
224 Words!
Code: Select all
Kuri’s favorite class, surprisingly enough, is Combat Training! You really wouldn’t have thought that, given just how lazy the Joltik normally is, but it was his absolute favorite class to attend during his time in the Blackmyre Knighthood Academy. The ‘incident’ hadn’t happened yet, and so according to the stories Kuri was actually a very active, lively bug that took everything quite seriously. Learning to use all of his moves for real life situations was an essential part of learning how to properly be a guard, and it also meant that it could double as a method to fight off anyone bold enough to try and pick on his brother Kreid.

That being said, Combat Training was always a bit difficult for Kuri, thanks to his size versus many of the other pokemon that were enrolled in his year. As such, Kuri often had to sit out of actual demonstrations-- a fact that frustrated him back then, but likely makes his laid back, lazier self happy these days. On the bright side, it meant that Kuri had a lot of time to learn more about improving his own combat style, and most of his fellow students at the academy learned the hard way that he earned his A+ in that class for a reason even if he never had to do a mock spar.

Pokemon being used/link: Kreid - Here!
Prompt:
Monthly 2. It's back to school time! Describe what your pokemon's school schedule looks like. ** [100 words min] **
897 Words!
Code: Select all
Kreid, much like his brother Kuri, was formerly enrolled at the prestigious Blackmyre Knighthood Academy. He had hoped for years to become a royal knight so that he could manage to properly take care of his little brother Kuri without worrying so much about money all the time. It wasn’t exactly the easiest raising him by himself, after all! Even if he didn’t become a royal knight, odds were in his favor to at least manage to snag a comfy job as a guard within the kingdom or something-- it’d make getting by a lot easier. Unfortunately, he had to put his plans on hold for a few years just to make ends meet-- which meant that Kreid was a bit older than he expected once he entered the academy. While Kuri was with him about two years later, this was his schedule during the years that Kuri wasn’t enrolled yet!

Kreid’s mornings at BKA were almost always the same: He’d begin making his way to his History class immediately, barely even taking a moment to stop and say hello to just about anyone. This changed slightly once he met Prince Zayne, however, as Kreid would then elect to see the fledgling prince out to watch him practice laps in the grand arena’s swimming pool while studying his notes for class. It wasn’t that Kreid hated History Class-- it was just that he wasn’t nearly as dedicated to getting straight As in it until he began to compete with Kuri in later years.

History Class always lasted a few hours, after which the Galvantula would get a short intermission between it and his following class to get his bearings and make his way to the arena. This was actually Kreid’s absolute favorite class, so he was always punctual regardless of the circumstances. This often meant that he got to have a bit of time to talk with Prince Zayne, as the Luxio’s second block class was also maintained within part of the arena. Magical Defense was always a strange course for Kreid, even before Kuri began to attend the academy.

Magical Defense was actually where Kreid wound up evolving-- an affair that resulted in Kuri being called out of class to be by his older brother’s side and take him home as an accident occurred due to the sudden evolution during a practice session. This was the incident that led BKA to implement a policy regarding size for practice during their practical lessons. Despite this accident, Kreid continued to attend Magical Defense regularly-- and was well respected despite the stigma that his species was not suited for defense, much less of the special variety.

After Magical Defense was over with for the day, Kreid had free time during lunch. Kuri was always so thoughtful and made the Galvantula a homemade bento, which he’d sometimes share with Zayne while the Luxio was still attending courses at BKA. The two often spent their lunchtime together, as Kreid didn’t have to leave the arena and the two were often already there. It was a bit awkward at times having so many eyes on the two of them, but it was just a quirk of being good friends with Zayne. This tradition of eating at the arena for lunch didn’t stop once Zayne left, and was instead carried on so that Kreid could watch over Kuri’s practice-- and later let him spend time with Ophelia.

After lunch was over, Kreid would leap straight into Combat Training. This, unlike Magical Defense, was a course that Kreid struggled with immensely. Kreid would lay down his life for his brother if he had to, sure, but he wasn’t exactly the greatest when it came to attacking people. This meant that he often lost any and all practice spars that he had during Combat Training, but the man still had a very firm grasp on the fundamentals…even if he didn’t like to use them very much. Kind of an awkward trait to have as a guard, but I digress…

Kreid got to meet up with Zayne again during the intermission that followed Combat Training. The two would often laugh and joke around on their way to the final class of the day: Cartography. The pair actually had this course together, and it might have been Kreid’s favorite-- had Zayne not graduated two years after Kreid enrolled. While Kreid didn’t mind studying maps and learning how to make them himself, it just never quite felt the same once the Luxio left. He’d go on to make a detailed map of the entire academy during his senior year though, which now serves as the guide for all new students.

Once Cartography was over with, Kreid didn’t ever really get the chance to say goodbye to Zayne. He was always swept away by the Royal Guard, which left the poor Galvantula alone. This void was filled once Kuri enrolled, as Kreid would then simply go and see his little brother to prepare for walks home together most days of the week. He didn’t have any extracurricular activities like clubs or sports teams to attend, so it meant that even once Kuri came to BKA Kreid would wind up walking home alone two days of the week. That was fine though-- it just meant that he always got a head start over Kuri with doing his history homework those days….

Conversely to Kuri, Kreid was a far more defensive person when growing up-- including during his enrollment at Blackmyre Knighthood Academy. As a result, Kreid actually favored the Magical Defense Training course-- something that surprised many people at the academy. After all, Joltiks were not exactly well known for their defense…and at the start of the course, Kreid was not any particular exception to this rule. Kreid, however, did his absolute best to study as much as he could on proper techniques to counter special attacks, and soon enough proved that size and stereotypes meant nothing in the face of a spider with nothing to lose.

In fact, his dedication to Magical Defense Training was exactly the catalyst that led to the man’s evolution into a Galvantula! Even after ‘the incident’, it remained the Galvantula’s favorite course-- and he was considered the best student in the course seen by the BKA since the legend, Sparrow. Even though Kreid no longer is required to attend BKA, he makes a point of coming to help the first years every year at his favorite class. He’s something of a legend there now, and he loves nothing more than to give public demonstrations of what it truly means to master Magical Defense to aspiring knights.

Pokemon being used/link: Ophelia - Here!
Prompt:
Monthly 2. It's back to school time! Describe what your pokemon's school schedule looks like. ** [100 words min] **
807 Words!
Code: Select all
Ophelia, like many royal guards in this day and age, was a former student of the well-known and respected Blackmyre Knighthood Academy. Despite all of the constant bullying and attempts to discourage her, the Larvesta knew for an absolute fact that if she wanted to have any shot at one day becoming a Royal Knight that she would have to attend BKA. Thanks to her father’s influence as a retired royal knight himself, she was able to get enrolled despite the backlash received.

This wasn’t to say that Ophelia had it terribly easy in the BKA, though. Quite the opposite, actually!

Fortunately for her, Ophelia’s mornings always began with her making a beeline to Advanced History. She had no reason to ever stop, save for her senior year where she would spend time with Kreid walking to the class anyway. Once there, she could take the downtime before the academy began courses for the day to actually get some food in her system. She was usually made fun of for her meals (until Kreid came along), so she did her best to always eat before anyone else entered the classroom.

Ophelia did actually love Advanced History, though. She was quite the bookworm, and she absolutely enjoyed the rich history of the four kingdoms and their knights. Some referred to her as the infamous teacher’s pet, on account of the Larvesta’s heavy tendencies to pick up extra credit work. For those few hours each day though, she was on top of the moon-- she’d always ace exams, and often was permitted to skip out on homework thanks to her exemplary grades in class.

After Advanced History, Ophelia had a brief window to try and relax before heading to the arena for her Combat Training course. The Larvesta was often singled out for very difficult practice spars due to her inherent fire-typing, which gave her an advantage over many of the other students in her class. Despite this, she elected to play along and never let it really bother her too much It was just a few hours until lunch, after all. Besides-- it played to her sense of pride and let her prove to her students that she belonged here just the same as them.

When lunch did happen to roll around, Ophelia would usually go and make herself comfortable in the Sewing Club’s room within the academy. There, she could weave things with her silk or take the time to eat more of her charred berries that she loved so much. It was pretty rare that the other members of the Sewing Club would be here during lunch, but it wasn’t like she minded. It gave her the alone time she needed during the day-- though she would go on to spend this time with Kreid instead at the arena during her final year at the academy.

Following lunch, Ophelia wound up having to make her way all the way back to the arena. As it would turn out, Ophelia spent almost her entire day here at the arena thanks to her schedule. Hunting, unlike Combat Training, wasn’t something she was picked on for. In fact, it was basically the only time that Ophelia seemed to very actively get praise from those that usually scorned her existence at the academy. Her silk traps happened to be quite good for Hunting, and those that usually made fun of her instead tried to butter her up to get her to agree to working together on projects during Hunting Class.

The final part of Ophelia’s daily classes, however, was where the Larvesta’s joy of the day usually came to an abrupt halt. Naturally, being a fire type, Ophelia did not enjoy the water particularly much. She would much rather fly over rivers and the like once she finally evolved into a Volcarona. She was pretty sure that she was placed into Swimming Class just to spite her, in an attempt to make the woman drop out of BKA early. The longer she worked at it, however, the less time Ophelia had to spend recovering after class. In a weird way, she did come to appreciate the class for helping her horrible resistance to water.

The end of the day for Ophelia was always a bit of a crossroads, however. She could go home and study, sure. That was a great option and let her continue to get ahead in Advanced History. The other option was to go ahead and wiggle her way over to Sewing Club’s room during afterschool hours, which she would take if she was feeling up to it after the exhaustion of Swimming. While the club was small and only had three members (including her), she did actually quite enjoy it. She’s actually somewhat sad that the club closed down not long after she graduated from BKA.

Ophelia was always a bit of a bookworm-- and as such, History class at the Blackmyre Knighthood Academy tended to be some of her absolute favorite times. It let her escape the bullying-- at least for a hour or two a day-- and let her focus on the rich and diverse history of knighthood across the four kingdoms. The course went in depth not only on the most well known knights in history, but also the changes to the structure of the royal knights, previous rulers, and even old wars fought. Ophelia, being a workaholic and taking the bullying as a challenge to prove people wrong, went out of her way to always pick up extra credit and ace exams whenever possible.

She was put into the advanced History classes a year early as a result, where she wound up meeting Kreid originally. Maybe this was the real reason she loved History class so much? She’d never tell. If you go by and ask the instructor if he ever had a favorite student across all of his years of teaching though, odds are that Ophelia was always the first name to spring to the wizened professor’s mind.

Pokemon being used/link: Zayne - Here!
Prompt:
5. What is your Pokémons personality?
425 Words!
Code: Select all
“Why did I become a knight? Hm… maybe I’ll tell you about it over a drink if we both survive.”

Zayne, despite being a high ranking royal knight of House Blackmyre, is better known among his people as the ‘lost prince of House Blackmyre’. This is largely due to the Luxio’s mysterious nature, never making public appearances whenever he visits at home. He rarely speaks in public venues, and is flagged by swarms of guards at all times– more than even Lance– despite being a trained knight. The royal guard even goes so far as to sneak him into the castle proper under the cover of nightfall at his personal request. As a result, the public doesn’t really know much about how he acts, and its hard to get a bead on him outside of fairy tales. Zayne doesn’t like the spotlight as a prince though, so this is just fine to him.

He is, however, actually incredibly kind and patient despite his very intimidating appearance. The feline will stop to help anyone he can, no matter the inconvenience it causes him…or his entourage, in the case of being home. He is humble and refuses to take credit for his good deeds– though no one can really seem to pin down his appearance. Most swear up and down that the Zayne is not actually the prince, unable to recognize him due to changes that occurred since beginning espionage in House Duskmaire years ago.

When he is undercover in House Duskmaire’s territory, the Luxio’s behavior shifts drastically– he is rather aggressive and unruly, ignoring the pleas of others when under the watch of their king. This is all an act, however, and he often attempts to aid those he has to pass up under the cover of night. Zayne is also liable to blaming himself for the harm of others, which often occurs in his line of work as a result of trying to help people escape the king’s mean rule.

There is one major warning to all who approach, however: Be you Rosewind, Silverreach, Blackmyre or Duskmaire… if you dare insult his dedication to his knighthood, prepare to pay the price. To him, being a knight was never a choice, and no one should have a single doubt in their mind if they enter this line of work about the sacrifices one will have to make in the name of their kingdom and family. There is no room in knighthood for cowardice or tomfoolery– and he won’t stand anyone who dares make light of it.

Monthly 2. It's back to school time! Describe what your pokemon's school schedule looks like. ** [100 words min] **
929 Words!
Code: Select all
Prince Zayne had always dreamt of being something a whole lot more than just a king. While he wasn’t quite sure that his father would ever really understand, Zayne was able to convince his mother to have him enrolled in the Blackmyre Knighthood Academy. His goal was to use the world-renowned school to be scouted into the Royal Knights. It seemed so simple, really, and it also let him escape all of the hassle his father caused him. Well-- mostly. King Antonidas would get the last laugh, ensuring that Zayne would not actually receive any truly combat-oriented classes during his enrollment. Really, it seemed as though Zayne’s chances of being scouted had been thrown out the window in this single, spite-filled play of his father’s.

Despite this, Zayne would always be escorted to BKA bright and early every single morning-- he refused to miss a day for the world, even when he was ill. The only exceptions he ever made for this were his mother’s birthdays and the birth of his little brothers. He didn’t WANT an entourage, but it was forced upon him by his father of course. This meant that even during his simple walks down the hall and toward the arena, the Luxio would always be observed from a distance by members of the Royal Guard that had more than likely graduated from that very academy.

He always made a beeline to the arena to get a jump start on swimming in the pool-- during his final year, he actually was accompanied by a Galvantula named Kreid. He was one of the few that saw him more like a regular feline than a prince, despite the awkwardness of being hounded by guards. Kreid always spent the time before class to come watch him do laps in the pool, which was heavily appreciated by Zayne. It was nice to have someone to talk with that he didn’t feel was being paid off by his dad.

Given that he was always in the pool early, Zayne often got to relax during Swimming Class relatively early on. Zayne called it ‘de-syncing the schedule’, as it meant he got to spend a lot of time resting up before his next class instead of a minuscule ten minute break between courses that was allotted to the average student. That being said, it wasn’t as if the prince had terribly far to travel anyway, and he was more than rested enough after spending the final thirty minutes or so of his two hour Swimming Class on sunbasking instead.

He did get a brief visit from Kreid during his final years during the tiny intermittent where everyone was moving from class to class-- he was on his way to Hunting, as where Kreid would be beginning his Magical Defense course. Thanks to the incredibly thick trees and brush,  there was basically no chance that Zayne was going to be able to spot the Galvantula during his class. Hunting Class was about as close as Zayne was going to get to actual combat training-- and it wasn’t exactly what one would consider to be great. Thanks to his rest before class, however, Zayne usually did quite well at it.

This whole pattern of extreme physical exertion followed by a catnap was repeated into lunch, where he’d catch some sunrays and get in a pretty light lunch. The prince was, yet again, sometimes accompanied by Kreid in these endeavors during his final year. It was greatly appreciated, though Zayne doesn’t think he makes for the greatest of company while resting up.

Zayne would find himself making his way from the arena after lunch, having to enter Diplomacy class. This was, ironically, his favorite class of the day. It only made logical sense that he would want to be well rested for the class! While he might have wanted to get away from being labeled as ‘Prince’, Diplomacy class let the Luxio feel more like a normal person than any other moment at BKA. His fellow students in class were always interested in his oral reports, and this was the class where he never had any technical difficulties in finding a partner for a group project. Honestly, he might go so far as to say it was the whole reason he managed to stick it out through the five years of training at BKA.

There was a ten minute break between Diplomacy and his final class, but Zayne didn’t exactly need it. Why? Well, Cartography was literally right across the hall from his current class. He felt fairly awkward arriving so early for this particular course, as it was probably the one subject in BKA that he was bad at. Honestly, Zayne blames his inability to draw neatly. This small downtime was far less awkward during his final year, where he actually shared this block with Kreid. The two basically paired uup for every single group project that year in Cartography Class. That wasn’t to say that it entirely saved the prince’s grade, but it probably didn’t hurt at all.

At the end of the day, Zayne was always once again swarmed by the guards that spent their day monitoring the prince’s progress at the academy. He honestly wished that he could’ve spent more time with Kreid, or gotten involved in some sort of extracurricular activity after classes were over and done with. Unfortunately, he was unable to convince his parents to let him join the debate team, so his day always ended with him being quietly escorted back to the castle by his typical entourage…

People aren’t sure if it was just because he was a prince, because his father worried about him getting hurt, or just cruel fate of some sort…but Zayne didn’t really get the opportunity during much of his time at the Blackmyre Knighthood Academy to show what he was truly capable of in combat. Despite this, the Luxio doesn’t seem to have any hard feelings-- he is quick to tell people his favorite class during his years of enrollment was actually not combat-oriented at all!

Zayne’s favorite course was actually Diplomacy, which is a rather ironic choice given that he wanted to get AWAY from his title as a prince and all. He didn’t like the spotlight, and he was too intimidating to approach outside of class…so it was really shocking to his peers to see that the man spoke with such conviction. He never really spoke outside of Diplomacy, but his voice here was always clear and assertive. He was always ready to compromise in any scenario presented to him by his teacher, and soon enough his peers were all clamoring to have him on their team for any group project or friendly class competition.

Also rather ironic was the fact that Zayne was forcibly enrolled in Diplomacy originally by his father, whom had hoped to ensure that Zayne would take over the throne one day. It was never a plan of the cat’s original itinerary-- after all, why would he ever think he’d need these skills as a knight?-- but wound up being the course that he treasured the most. He didn’t like any of the attention gained by those seeking an easy pass, but he found it an enjoyable way to prove that he was more than capable of leadership-- a quality looked for not only in an aspiring king, but also in the royal knights of legend.

His father had helped him get closer to his goals of leaving the kingdom as a proper royal knight, and during his valedictorian speech Zayne had cited Diplomacy as being his main way of getting through BKA despite all of the prejudice and stereotyping he received just because he was a prince. Those high grades in Diplomacy certainly paid off when he was giving the speech-- it helped convince his father to let him leave the den proper and join the royal knights once he was recruited.

“Not everyone knows what they’re getting into, little princeling.”

Sparrow is a bit of a strange case-- myths and legends call him a hero and almost no one can agree on what the man is really like. Not a soul has seen the royal knight in hundreds of years, leading to speculation that he died honorably in battle or that he passed away from old age.
None of this is true, however, and the reality is a bit sadder than that. Years of being locked up in isolation have embittered the Type:Null, and as such he is very standoff-ish and sarcastic at his core. His sense of humor is dry, bordering on dark, and he resents anyone that dares to proclaim themselves a hero. To him, you can’t just say that you are x or y…you need others to believe it as well.

As one might suspect from years of isolation, Sparrow is not very good at socializing. He can be a bit slow to picking up on social cues, and often prefers to be silent when addressing large groups of people. Even the words he means sincerely and kindly are often interpreted poorly thanks to his skewed mannerisms. This shows best when he interacts with Prince Zayne after the man rescued him from the dungeons.

Despite ALL of this, however, Sparrow has not lost his sense of justice and his desire to always do what he deems is right. His devotion to the constellation deities has not dwindled or faded even one bit in the years since he saw freedom-- some actually might argue that this has strengthened the man’s resolve and faith. As such, he often can be found staring up at the stars, speaking to them as if they can hear his words. His conviction does not waver, even in his darkest and most stressful hours.

Like most of the modern royal knights, Sparrow does not overlook an opportunity to help those that require any form of aid. Unlike them, though, he is also not afraid to do whatever it’ll take to supply said aid, even if it puts him at severe risk or forces him into hardship. To him, a few days without food is worth the ability to buy a poor woman a few nights at an inn, and there is no excuse for any royal knight to not go above and beyond their call of duty. It’s only right-- and all of one’s good deeds in his eyes will eventually be paid forward in kind…even if it takes a few years.

Sparrow, legend or not among the attendees of the Blackmyre Knighthood Academy, did actually attend this prestigious academy at one point of his life. If you were to ask him, he would tell you that he doesn’t remember just how many years it has been-- but the evidence is littered all throughout the trophy cabinets in the academy’s arena and cafeteria. Despite this, Sparrow will not mention any of these trophies to those wondering what his favorite class was. It turns out that he wasn’t too big on Combat Training or Protection, but rather his favorite was something entirely unrelated to fighting altogether: The Principles of Knighthood.

Many attending the BKA will laugh this off as a very easy course, and perhaps it was for some…but the harsh reality was that this course wound up failing almost half of its entrants. Worse yet, failing the course usually meant being shunned by many members of the academy-- after all, this was a KNIGHT academy. It was expected that you would understand all of the core principles and laws that made up the knight’s code, right?

Sparrow studied his textbooks day in and day out. Even while in the middle of practice spars, he was usually preoccupied reciting the tenants that all knights abide by without giving his opponent much thought. The Type:Null essentially breathed the fundamentals and foundations of knighthood, and was actually far harsher on failing students of the course than even the instructor. However, Sparrow did throw a bone to those that were more than willing to put in the hours, tutoring his peers that strove to achieve greatness-- and they more often than not were able to pass the class with his aid.

To many, this was supposed to be ‘an easy class’. You know, that one course you took in highschool to try and just build up credit-- like writing class or something. To Sparrow, it was a defining part of his life and helped him truly understand just what it meant to be a knight. This course is actually credited as the defining course that fast-tracked the Type:Null’s scouting into the Royal Knights, and anyone that was even remotely serious about becoming a part of them now took it just as seriously as he one did. Legends say that even now, despite having graduated, Sparrow still can be found reciting bits and pieces of those selfsame vows and tenants he learned to uphold long ago. With that in mind, it’s not that surprising to hear that its his absolute favorite course…

“Don’t let him get to you, Lance. He cares, I promise.”

Orphelius has always, at his core, been a rather kind and thoughtful individual. Even as a Trapinch, Orphelius thought of nothing more than being able to help others in their time of need, even if it was as simple as helping an old lady carry groceries home from the market. This trait has followed him through his entire childhood, and is still a defining character trait of his even now.

You wouldn’t know that if you saw him as one of his coworkers, however. Orphelius, like his king, puts up a facade in the presence of his subordinates. While it can be rather harsh and come off as incredibly cold, he is actually always looking out for the guards that he now has to watch over from day to day. This ruse is very effective in keeping his fellow guards from becoming biased or attached, but doesn’t help Orphelius when it comes to getting attached– he has been known to cry when saying farewells to guards that go on to become knights.

He is also known to be rather empathetic and a good listener, as shown by the fact that both King Antonidas and Prince Lance have seen it fit to confide in him their woes and struggles during times that no one else could. He keeps those secrets close to his heart, and he is likely to take such things to his grave.

To the surprise of essentially no one, the FLYgon’s favorite course at the Blackmyre Knighthood Academy is Flight and Aerial Acrobatics. Its sort of in the name of their species, after all! Orph’s love of ‘Flight Class’ began as a Vibrava, however. Even before he was enrolled in the academy, Orphelius spent most of his day whizzing and whirring around the entirety of his family’s home, or using his speed to carry things to and fro at his part time job. As a Trapinch, he would sit near the post office and watch the other flying types depart to deliver messages to far off lands. As it would turn out though, Orphelius had quite the knack for flying-- even more than his species normally did!

So it wasn’t really too surprising that a young Orphelius enrolled in ‘Flight Class’, which many of his peers believed was just an excuse to get a super easy A on his reports. While this was true, this also gave Orph the chance to learn more about putting his natural talents to much greater use out on the field. He had a lot raw speed, but no real grace-- and as such, the class actually was much harder for him to succeed in than anticipated initially. He had the potential, but at the same time everyone got to laugh each and every time he’d ram directly into the top of one of the flying rings during the routines to practice aerial agility. It never dissuaded him though, and eventually Orphelius was scouted by BKA’s Aerial Track and Sky Team for competitive flying.

In the end, Orphelius wound up becoming an incredible flier-- and actually takes over BKA’s class for a few weeks each semester. It took him far too long to make up the difference in his speed versus his agility (he actually got a D on his very first exam), but even now he looks back on his time enrolled in the course as some of his best moments in training.

“Guards! Throw her into the stocks IMMEDIATELY!”

King Xymar is, perhaps, one of the most interesting case studies in my world’s lore. He is a very prideful, spiteful individual who seeks nothing more than the dismantlement and integration of the other three kingdoms into his own. This was not always the case however– and sometimes, it still isn’t. Some people that escaped the kingdom prior to his takeover claim that he was actually a very kind, loving person prior to taking up the crown.

The Typhlogrigus is very rude and aggressive on average, and this is about the expectation anyone under his rule has when approaching his throne. However: On some occasions, one can see the gentle and soft side of the Typhlosion, pleading for someone to please stop him. These bouts do not last long, and often lead to the person he confided in going missing not long after the aforementioned incident’s occurrence. As such, rumors began to spread that Xymar, perhaps, is not exactly the most sane after taking over the throne. These are hard to believe seeing him in the present day, though. Even still, its hard to argue with his intimidating presence and cold-heart getting the results he wants: Complete control and ‘respect’ from his subjects.

The Rosewind School of Alchemy is home to many courses, but none quite so important to Raine as Potion Theory. It makes some sense-- it is the one required course for each and every single aspiring alchemist enrolled at RSA. This was the course that was the most heavily scrutinized by the faculty, and the main course looked at when deciding on potential new apprenticeships for the Royal Alchemist’s Court.

You would think that someone’s favorite class would mean that they were actually reasonably good at the course, right? Well… that wasn’t quiiiite the case when it came to Raine’s enrollment. Raine was, to be perfectly frank, HORRIBLE when it came to his time in Potion Theory. He was very good at grasping the core concepts and could write down any particular recipe without a single issue at all-- that wasn’t the issue. No, no…Raine’s problem came down to the actual physical application of their learning.

Despite acing any pop quiz or written exams, the Smeargle repeatedly failed any and every single test that required the students to actually make a potion. This wasn’t because Raine was BAD, per say, but rather that he refused to just stop at ‘what was asked of him’. If his instructor asked the class to make a healing potion, Raine often went the extra mile and made an elixir that entirely rejuvenated one’s mind and body. This ‘extra mile’ often netted the man a failing grade and a harsh talk at the headmaster’s office about how not following the recipes provided could have horrible consequences.

Raine really didn’t care, however, and despite his middling C+ grade he continued to put in the effort that was REALLY never asked of him. While this got him into a ton of trouble and almost had him kicked out of RSA, it did pay off during a day of observation by the Court-- netting him an apprenticeship where he was allowed to take that extra mile any time he wanted. While it was certainly not the class he ‘excelled’ at thanks to his desire to work on alchemical creations far ahead of the skill level of his class, it was the one that let him achieve his dream of being a member of the Royal Alchemists Court.

And besides-- now he’s the head instructor for Potion Theory. That has to count for something at this point, right??

Maybe its due to the Nickit’s otherworldly typing and affiliations with the occult, but Lyxi’arova’s favorite course is Afterlife Studies! This class goes in depth behind the weight and meaning of one’s soul, as well as a deep dive into the inner working of the afterlife. Being a ghost type might have made Lyxi rather biased, but with how little Lyxi remembers of how they became this way…it was kind of understandable that they would take the course rather seriously in an attempt to get a grasp on it.

Lyxi was naturally gifted at this class, but it didn’t their efforts to be the absolute best at it. Lyxi’s wisps actually made for excellent case studies, and as a result they were often called on for examples and demonstrations. Most students attending the Rosewind School of Alchemy weren’t exactly as..qualified as Lyxi’arova was for this sort of class.

It did embarrass them having to get up in front of the class so much, but now they look upon those times fondly. Reflecting makes them realize that maybe they shouldn’t have taken that time in the spotlight for granted. While at the time it wasn’t that enjoyable for them, it’s a good reminder to them of a time that they now since miss quite often while working in their research lab.

Prompt:
2. Has your pokemon ever encountered a legendary? what was this like and how did it impact them?

Tiger remembers meeting Landorus before. When this happened, a terrible drought affected the entire Unova region. The Tiger trainers had a lot of problems, as many of their crops suffered and are dead. In lack of food and money, the sister of his trainer fell ill, and they began to think of having to sell animals from their farm, or even their entire farm. Tiger couldn't even think that the farm could go out of business: it was unthinkable for him. Determined, he went to find out from the oldest Pokémon on the farm, who told him the story of a trio of legendary Pokémon capable of making any land fertile. This trio would be led by Landorus, a Pokemon that owned a temple in the mountains, and would only show itself to those it deemed worthy. Lots of trainers would have tried their luck already, but Landorus wouldn't have shown up for years. Despite everything, Tiger wanted to try, ignoring the danger. After all, it was risking the impossible or losing this farm he loved so much! So, without waiting, Tiger went to find the altar of Landorus, leaving. His trainers thought he had run away, like other hungry Pokémon on the farm, and while the farmer's daughter was bedridden, his son worked all day, and sometimes also all night, in order to have something to feed his family.
On Tiger's side, his adventure was strewn with many pitfalls. Indeed, he encountered many wild Pokémon who attacked him. He also encountered some trainers who tried to catch him because of his unique coat, before noticing that Tiger couldn't fit into a pokeball, as he already belongs to someone. Still, this forced Tiger to take detours to a Pokemon Center, slowing him down in his quest.
Finally, after days and days of walking, Tiger found Landorus's shrine. Tiger prayed to the Pokémon for a long time, even bringing berries near the altar to lure it, to no avail. Eventually, Tiger ends up collapsing from hunger and exhaustion. He had failed, Landorus had not come, and he was too weak to return home. Besides, Tiger didn't know how to get home. He thought he was going to die here before he felt a few drops of rain. Rain !? Here !? When it hadn't rained for weeks!? It was a miracle! As he smiled with joy, Tiger saw three huge figures approaching him. One of the figures resembled the description he had received from Landorus, and this was confirmed when the leader of the trio introduced himself as Landorus. The latter said he was touched by Tiger's wish, and he invited him to climb on his back, which the little pig did with joy. Immediately, Landorus escorted Tiger home, and the weather trio swept miraculous rain over the land, and made the farm's crops super bountiful. Seeing him return with these three pokemon, Tiger's trainers were both surprised and relieved. Those who were afraid that Tiger had abandoned them, here he is back with the greatest gift! That was for sure, his trainers will never forget him, and Tiger will never thank Landorus and his brothers enough for saving them.
