Archive: xXxPrompt: [list prompt title & then your completed prompt]
* Prompt #2: Has your Pokemon ever encountered a legendary? what was this like and how did it impact them?Alphecca has never encountered a legendary, but they HAVE encountered an Ultra Beast. And said Ultra Beast is their best friend!
The first chunk of Alphecca's not inconsiderable lifespan was spent in the space between worlds; flitting among stars and chasing comets, they'd jump from planet to planet without a care - the endless expanse was their playground! Mostly, they were alone. But every so often in the course of their travels they'd run across another void dweller - a Staryu, a Cleffa, the occasional Elgyem or Beheeyem - and these encounters always offered a welcome distraction. Alphecca would spin politely in greeting, rotating counter-clockwise about their vertical axis like a happy top with a sugar buzz. Then, if the other was willing, they'd exchange a few words, and perhaps even share supplies, before saying farewell and going their seperate ways. In this way, Alphecca was happy! They had no end of things to see, things to do, places to go.... until, that is, they made a mistake. They drew too close to a certain planet - lured in by curiosity - and became ensnared it its gravitational pull. No matter how hard they fought (and they fought hard indeed!) they could not break free. Thus they were pulled relentlessly downward, and Alphecca crashed to Earth totally against their will.
The initial impact left Alphecca muzzy-minded and physically damaged; they were unable to do anything other than lie where they'd landed, face pressed into the dirt, and contemplate every wonder they'd just lost. All they'd never again experience! All they'd never again see.... It was an enormous weight on their spirit. If they could've cried, they would have. Unfortunately, being a living chunk of space debris, Alphecca lacks tear ducts, so they were left to suffer in silence.
How long they lay like this they do not know - they were drifting in and out of conciousness for one thing, and furthermore, laying as they were, they couldn't see the sky. So they had no way to judge the passage of time. It could have been days, hours, minutes, years... but then, without warning, unseen hands intruded on their private depression. They wrapped themselves around two of Alphecca's rays and began pulling mightily. Slowly, bit by bit, millimeter by millimeter, they felt themselves being lifted free of their earthen prison. Gladness crept into Alphecca's heart as the first glimmer of light they'd seen in ages became visible. Then everything twisted, and they were lying on their back, staring up at stars. But... not stars as they'd known them. These were weak and distant... filtered through the many layers of an atmosphere which now imprisoned them. Again Alphecca felt like crying.
"I'd ask if you were OK, but you're obviously not. So, instead, I'll ask if you'd like some tea or something. Do you drink tea?" The owner of the voice came into view as it spoke - inserting itself between Alphecca's tired, dirt-filled eyes and the watery, mocking glow of distant worlds. Its head was spherical and held no hint of a face. Its body appeared to be made of straws. To the Solrock, this impossibly spindly creature didn't look like it it could be capable of budging them an inch, much less flipping them completly over. But... there was no one else around. A quick scan confirmed it. In spite of their misery, Alphecca found their curiosity once more swimming to the surface. Where were they? What manner of being inhabited this place? Were they all as thin and brittle looking as this one? What was... tea?
As if sensing Alphecca's confusion, the creature spoke again, using one of its strange, fingerless hands to brush the dirt from around the Solrock's eyes as it did so. "You know what? Nevermind. Forget the tea. You just look like you need a place to stay for a while. I saw you fall, and... well... I'm new to this place myself. So... I know how you feel. Lost, confused, out of sorts..." Here the creature paused and sighed wearily. "Maybe... maybe we can help each other?"
The creature had then lifted Alphecca in its impossibly strong, impossibly thin arms, and the Solrock again lost consciousness. When it awoke once more it was inside a cave, nestled snugly in a pile of particoloured blankets and sitting beside a crackling fire. Their wounds had been bandaged. Their surface cleaned of debris. The strange beast snored away nearby, totally oblivious to the world around it.
Alphecca was still tired - still mourning. Still afraid. Still in pain. But somehow, things didn't look quite as bleak as they had only a short time ago. Things were different now, yes. The Solrock leaned back, cast its eyes across the rough stone ceiling that arched overhead, and fought back a wave of claustrophobia. Things... HAD to be different now. But maybe... if this strange creature really was willing to help... different didn't have to mean... bad...? Alphecca closed their eyes, blotting out the oppressive grey expanse.
Only time would tell.
Though they'd never forget the space between worlds...
Thus Alphecca met O. Over the following months, which would turn to years in a flash, the wayward pair DID indeed help each other. They explored this new land side by side, and learned much about it in so doing. They supplemented each other's viewpoints. Each other's insights. And they grew inseparable! At some point, as a lark, O suggested that she remove her head and have Alphecca float above her shoulders as if THEY were her head. Both enjoyed the resulting visual effect so much - as well as the reactions they got from others - that this arrangement became habitual. It's their version of wearing matching T-shirts.
Alphecca honestly doesn't know what would have happened to them if O hadn't been around to see them fall from the heavens. (971)
* Prompt #3: What was your Pokemon's life like before joining the team?As previously mentioned, Alphecca isn't from this planet originally. Before crashing down to earth they pretty much spent their days doing whatever crossed their fancy, whenever they felt like doing it. They were a lone traveler - a vagabond - skipping from one end of the cosmos to the other on a meandering path that paid no mind to saving time. It wasn't particularly productive, but it was fun! Always different, always unexpected. And Alphecca enjoyed themselves immensely! They've seen all sorts of things: binary stars, black holes, supernovas, wormholes, spacial distortions... and they cherish those memories. Occasionally, over the course of their travels, they'd bump into other life forms. Some were on missions - hurrying from point A to point Z with great purpose and little time for nonsense - while others were shiftless wanderers like themselves. In each case Alphecca would let the stranger set the tone, and only made contact if it seemed that contact was welcome. If conversation was wanted, conversation was had. If trade was on offer, goods were browsed (and sometimes exchanged). If help was needed, help was given. Life in space is very laze fair; very honest! Not that there wasn't the occasional troublemaker... Alphecca remembers more than one instance of having to flee or hide from ruffians who meant them harm. No place is perfect, after all. (221)
* Prompt #7: What are your Pokemon’s relationships with others like?Since coming to this planet and being forced to operate in much closer proximity to other lifeforms than ever before, Alphecca has chosen to remain somewhat apart. Dealing with strangers is easy for them - they're social enough. But more than one or two Pokemon at a time? They start getting twitchy. And crowds...? Forget it! After the cold, vast, empty distances that they crossed solo in space, the streets of Firth - even at four AM - are unimaginably busy. Thus they complete their buisness as swiftly as possible, not wishing to linger, and keep the conversation to necessities. For this reason Alphecca doesn't make friends easily. Aquatinces, yes: they're kind, polite, cheerful and have a good sense of humor. Many of the shopkeeper in Firth recognize them on sight and are happy to help them out! But when pressed, they'd remark that the Solrock has always seemed somewhat aloof, and that while they're a GOOD customer, they're far from the BEST. It takes special circumstances and special Pokemon to push through Alphecca's wall.
* O; Blacephalon; Best Friend: O quite literally saved Alphecca's life. And after that initial encounter, though O claims Alphecca has repaid any debt a hundred times over simply by being there for her to lean on, Alphecca remains grateful. That's not the primary reason they hang around though. Nope! Over the years Alphecca has simply come to appreciate O's flippant manner, her grace and her strength, as well as how funny it can be to chuck one of her exploding heads at an unsuspecting passerby. Furthermore, her being an Ultra Beast from another dimension means that O is just as much of a stranger here as Alphecca themselves, so the pair quite frequently help one another to understand Earthly customs from an angle which just isn't possible when you've grown up inside the system. Holidays? Personal property? Taxes...? It's an immense relief to have someone else around who ALSO doesn't get everything instantly! Helps to make Alphecca feel like less of an outsider.
* Ganymede; Lunatone; Love of their Life: Ganny and Alphecca didn't immediately see eye to eye. In fact, when Alphecca learned that Ganny had hatched planetside and had thus never seen the space between worlds, their initial excitement at seeing a Lunatone evaporated into so many moonbeams. Alphecca tried to end the association then and there. But Ganny was persistent. Ganny was curious. And they weren't about to give up so easily! Their relentless questioning actually made Alphecca mad - mad to the point where they turned on the Lunatone and proceded to have a row so fantastical that even O chose to stay out of it! Truly, their quarrel was one for the ages! When the dust settled, both Pokemon were left feeling tired, winded, and quite embarrassed. Ganny made the first move, apologising for being so pushy and unrelenting. They realized that their endless questions had dredged up Alphecca's past, and caused them pain by making them think about things things they'd buried long ago. In return Alphecca apologised for being stubborn - for blocking Ganny's genuine curiosity and denying their desire to learn about their heritage. This done, O popped out of a nearby Bush and offered everyone a celebratory round of tea. From there, the only way to go was up. Ganny gave Alphecca space, and, bit by bit, the Solrock began to open up. And in so doing, they learned that while it COULD be painful to remember, it could also be sweet. They began to find joy in telling Ganymede about the space between worlds, and found happiness in their new friend's endless enthusiasm. They also enjoyed the lessons Ganny gave THEM! The Lunatone was very educated, and knew much about the heavens as they existed in relation to Alphecca's new home. Ganny taught them about constellations - the stories behind them and how they shift with the seasons - as well as explaining the tidal pull of the moon and how to predict meteor showers. Their favorite thing was when Ganny took them up to the overlook, a shear cliff which juts out above the crashing sea, and shared an unobstructed view of a total lunar eclipse. Yes, Alphecca is still grounded. Yes they're still apart. But Ganny has taught them a new way to appreciate the space between worlds, and showed them that they're not as cut off as they thought. Alphecca cherishes this lesson. They have also come to adore Ganny's confidence and resourcefulness; their ability to throw themselves into adversity and not bat an eye while still remaining thoughtful and kind. Sometimes their desire to succeed overwhelms them - but Alphecca is always there to calm them down and put things in perspective. They love Ganny with every millimeter of their stony being!
* Hallie; Minior; Love of their Life: Alphecca and Ganymede first met Hallie by complete chance - the small Minior just came crashing out of the bushes one day, and blundered straight into a clearing where the pair was having a nice picnic lunch with O! Startled, the trio froze instantly and stared at the newcomer, O with food halfway to her neck-hole. For its part, Hallie seemed startled too! It simply hovered - pretty much in the same exact spot where it'd first emerged into the clearing - and stared right back. Its attention flicked from Alphecca to O to Ganny in quick succession, but seemed to hover on O the longest. Then a human voice rang out from somewhere nearby - the words were unintelligible to the picnickers - and the spell was broken. Shaking itself slightly as if it were trying to clear its head, the Minior let off a flash of green light and was gone: back through the bushes, back into the woods, back into obscurity. The whole encounter had taken less than a minute. Yet it would stick with the trio for weeks to come, simply because of its strangeness. They all remained motionless for a few seconds more, watching the bushes where their uninvited guest had vanished, but nothing else happened. So, feeling slightly on edge about the unseen human presence, they packed up and went home. They thought that was the end of it. At least until about a month later, when a bedraggled looking Minior showed up in the center of Firth, asking questions about Ultra Beasts. Alphecca was naturally suspicious, and steered clear. Ganny however, against Alphecca and O's better judgement, went to investigate. And as it turns out, it was just as well that they did! Hallie had belonged to a human trainer who'd brought it all the way from Alola before abandoning it for losing one too many battles. Stranded, alone, lost, Hallie had sought out O because it was familliar with Ultra Beasts in its home region and wanted to know if the Balcepheon had any way of getting BACK. Unfortunately, O did not. But Alphecca and the others felt great sympathy for the Minior: Its position was not so dissimilar from their own! Alphecca in particular felt pity for Hallie. Not only had it fallen from the stratosphere and crashed down to earth, but it had been drug to an unfamiliar region by someone it had once trusted, then abandoned. It had lost its world not once - as Alphecca had - but THRICE. Thus it took little discussion among the group before Ganny, acting as spokesmon, offered Hallie a place to stay until they got on their metaphorical feet. And the rest is history! Alphecca quickly grew to like the shy, softspoken Minior; it was always willing to listen, always willing to help... and possessed an incongruously sharp sense of humor. Many were the times that Hallie's quiet sarcasm caught Alphecca off-guard and sent them into a laughing fit! Furthermore, as Hallie is from the stratosphere, it serves as a literal mid-ground between Ganymede's earthbound knowledge and Alphecca's experiences in the space between worlds. The three of them can sit and talk for hours, comparing notes, swapping stores, and reveling in each other's presences! Hallie completes Alphecca as Hallie completes Ganymede, and these days, the three are rarely apart! Any notion of the Minior going anywhere else quickly dissipated by mutual consensus. Its home is with them now! (1367)
* Prompt #8: Where does your pokemon live? Do they have a house? Live with a trainer? Etc.A couple miles north of the Pokemon-built town of Firth, which stands on the region's easternmost side, there exists a shear rocky cliff made of hard black stone. It juts into the sky like an accusing finger, and looms over the crashing waves below so that they're in nearly perpetual shadow. No greenery grows on the cliff aside from a few tufts of weather-beaten grass and a whole host of mosses and lichens. It is isolated. It is sparse. It is imposing. This cliff - known as the overlook - also offers an unobstructed and unparalleled view of the eastern horizon. At night the sky seems to stretch forever. And when the ocean is calm, it's almost like one is floating in a void....
This is the place Alphecca now calls home, along with Ganymede and Hallie. They actually live in a cave halfway down the cliff face, hanging between the world above and the crashing waves below. Their levitation abilities allow them to access it easily; It's far enough above the tide line to not flood, even during storms; It gets lots of morning sunlight (allowing Ganny to keep potted plants around the entrance); And best of all, it's a blasted pain for any 'mon other than themselves to reach, so casual interlopers are virtually null! Even O and Pocket need assistance climbing down when they want to pop in for a visit, which is where the basket and pully system they rigged up a few years back comes into play. In short, It's the perfect space for a trio of somewhat reclusive space rocks to call home! The trio has outfitted the cavern with all the comforts of home too - pillows, blankets, Hallie's crystal collection, Alphecca's colorful wall-art, Ganny's plants, beaded hangings from O - and they love nothing more than gathering at the cave's mouth - or on the ledge above - to watch sunrises & sunsets together. Though they avoid meteor showers. Meteor showers always make Alphecca and Halie sad... (329)
* Prompt #9: What do your Pokémon do? Do they battle with their trainer, live on their own, explore in a guild, etc?Technically, Alphecca is part of a Pokemon rescue team called Team Work. Like.... teamwork. Get it? ...Yeah. *clears throat* O loves puns. Hallie thinks it's brilliant too! But Alphecca and Ganymede...? They just roll their eyes and do their best to ignore it. Because 'Team Work' isn't really an official rescue team - it's more the cringe-inducing collective title that they've given to their hodgepodge little family. They DO help folks out from time to time - mainly by offering up their astronomical/meteorological knowledge to sea goers and berry farmers in the area who need to know such things - but they don't take on actual missions. Alphecca isn't an adventure junkie by any definition, and much prefers their life of silent contemplation on the cliffside to running about hither and yon like REAL members of a rescue team do! Being one of Firth's unofficial official weather Pokemon is quite enough excitement for Alphecca! Though they go into town with O sometimes, and they always enjoy the minor chaos this brings. The Balcepheon simply can't resist pulling pranks whenever she's around other Pokemon! And Alphecca can't resist joining in. All work and no play, after all... ;D (195)
