The Ultimate Pokemon Skater's Arena, otherwise known as TUPSA, was, well, exactly what it sounded like. Ten high risk courses, each one requiring the competitors to use moves, quick thinking, and of course, their boards to win. Sk8r had been waiting for years to reach the age minimum, and when the opportunity presented itself, he waited in line to sign up (for many hours, though it didn't matter to him).

When he reached the front, a tired looking Monferno glanced at him and spoke, "Sorry, you can't compete." He opened his mouth to call for the next in line, before Sk8r stopped him.

"I reach the age restriction! Why can't I?" the bright green Sandshrew demanded. The fire type grumbled and pointed at a sign hanging above the desk.

"No Un-Evolved Pokemon Allowed," he said. "New rule to avoid lawsuits. Now move on kid, you're holding the line." He gestured towards the next few behind Sk8r, an annoyed Arbok with a Haunter hovering close behind.

Sk8r couldn't believe it. He'd waited so long, it'd be a whole year before the next one. And what if it was too far away? That's two whole years! Something could happen to him, or his board.

He was so lost in his fury and panic that he didn't notice himself glowing white, and before he new it, he was eye level with the Monferno. His claws were far longer, his skin was softer, and long, red spikes protruded from his back.

"Well I'll be darned," the monkey said. "Here's the paperwork to fill out, good luck out there."

Sk8r nodded, fumbling with the papers for a moment while he got used to the new claws. He'd need to get in some practice before he competed, but something in him felt 100% confident that he was going to win this competition.

- What events happened that lead to your pokemon evolving? This was it! She had reached the level. Finally, she would be able to use fire-type moves! The hopped with excitement as her trainer looked down upon her. Her small size made him have to squat in order to reach her, but he crept closer and whispered in her ear: “are you ready?”

She had never been more ready. She ran in a circle around him, making him giggle and spin around after her. She loved this life. Would it be different when she was evolved? Maybe she would be used only for battle, and nothing else? Suddenly she stopped, afraid to lose what she had, when she felt it.

Looking down at her extended claws, they had begun to shimmer with a dazzling blue and white light. It spread to her paws and up her shoulders, all the way to the tip of her nose. Her body prickled and tickled and suddenly started hurting. She felt her legs get stronger and her fur getting longer, and there was nothing she could do to stop it.

She hurled herself onto the ground, seeking comfort in the cool soil, but the glistening kept going. Until it stopped, right when she thought it never would. A collar was restraining her neck and her legs were tense and stiff. She stood up and felt a surge of energy. Maybe she could make some fire now?

She opened her mouth and took a deep breath. Feeling her new body and a sort of heat in the bell on her collar, she focused on it, engulfed it in her mind, and breathed fire. It was like a dream! She did it again, this time it was slightly weaker but still fire! It was a miracle! She-

A loud snap sounded, and the bell broke off. As it landed on the ground with a hissing noise of fire being extinguished, she panicked and scraped at it with her forepaws. The magic she received had slipped right out of her paws. She looked at the silver orb, and then curled herself into a ball, whimpering.

Completed Prompts: 1) It was a foggy, stormy morning when Sky was making her way through the Wild Area, in the Galar region. She was a small Pokémon, and not quite experienced in battle, so she tried to steer clear of large or scary Pokémon that could potentially hurt her. It most likely would never happen, but she was quite timid at the time and wanted to avoid conflict however possible.

As she traveled with her large leaf umbrella to shelter her from the cold rain, a large gust of wind almost blew her away! She timidly looked up, to see a giant Corviknight flying overhead. She shivered, and as quickly as she could go, she fled to the woods to take cover from the big, scary bird. Unfortunately for her, this forest seemed to be the Corviknight's final destination, as she heard a loud FWOOSH as it landed on the wooded floor of the forest. She peeked quietly from the bush she was currently hiding in to glance at it, and she saw it's large, beautiful glistening steel body. Something inside of her felt.. envious? She wanted to be big, and strong too, just like that Corviknight. Suddenly, she began to glow a brilliant magenta. She squealed in terror, and put her hands over her eyes and shut them tight. After a minute or so, she slowly lifted her hands up, and looked down to see she was very high up in the air. She looked around quickly to see that it was her that was big and strong now, too! She smiled with delight, as her wish had came true! She saw the Corviknight take to the sky, and it landed on her hand. As she smiled at it, and it gave a nod of approval, she felt brave and strong, and was quite happy to feel such a way!


2. It was a crisp December morning. The bird Pokémon were flying about, and the other ones seemed to be taking in the sunshine in the field.. except for these three peculiar ones. An odd group, formed out of an Alcremie, a Hisuian Zorua, and a Luxray, they were hurrying about in a panic. They were throwing a suprise birthday party for their friend (and the luxray's lover, it seems!), a Lycremie named Valerie. She was on her morning stroll, and was on the way to meet with them for "something important", as she knew.

The Alcremie, named Sky, was the big planner. She was using her favorite move, "Decorate" to make sure it all was lovely for her best friend. After all, who wouldn't want a splendid birthday party? Though, she seemed it.. wasn't enough. She stood in front of the decorated table, filled with presents, and a large, lovely birthday cake baked by Sky herself. She thought for a minute, and then realized what was missing. "Jericho and Moo Moo?" She called out. The Luxray and the Zorua looked over. "Is there something wrong, Sky?" Jericho questioned. "I know what will really put this birthday over the top. Is there enough room for me to Gigantimax?" Moo Moo's eyes widened, and he looked around and nodded. "There seems to be enough room, go for it!" Him and Jericho backed up a lot, while Sky focused om her inner power. She glowed a brilliant magenta, and began to grow, and change form. A few seconds later, she was now a large, ornate cake, over 95 feet tall! "Ta-daaa!" She beamed. "Now, watch this!" Sky prepared to use her favorite Max Move; G-Max Finale! She can use hers in an attack forme, or to decorate as well! She used the move, and by the time the giant explosion disappeared, the party table was absolutely decked out! Sparkly streamers hung from tree to tree, the cake was now much larger and prettier, and the gifts all had large, neat bows! Moo Moo and Jericho were amazed. "Now the party will really be awesome!" They all cheered. Valerie appeared around the corner and gasped, as they all shouted "SUPRISE!" and Sky tossed confetti, which took a little while to reach the ground, being 95 feet in the air and stuff. "Wow, this is the coolest party I've ever seen, and Sky, your Gigantimax form looks so cool!" That day was Valerie's favorite birthday, ever! Sky loved it too, as she finally got to show off her new, beautiful gigantimax form, and got to see her best friend smile!

Head butt. A crack.
Head butt. A shatter.
Head butt. Pressure mounted on Creek's skull.

Head butt. An explosive ringing rumbled through their head.
The Golurk's shoulders ached with tension. The bond it held with its clay form was weak, but it tried not at all to reform itself. It peered down at its cracked chassis silently, and the air was thick with somber. Creek was confused when it brought its gaze upwards to look at the Wooloo face-to-face. Despite its injuries, the Golurk moved quickly and surely. For a moment, it seemed to smile. A weak hand reached towards Creek's face, in a position ready for a handshake. It took a few moments for Creek to understand, but eventually they gently placed their right-side horn against the golem's palm.
The spar was over, and Creek was wrought with mixed emotions. Confusion, pride, sorrow. Creek felt bad for destroying the creature, but yet it showed them kindness. They felt shame for what they had done, but yet they also found confidence in their strength. As Creek walked away, their wool felt dense and their horns ached with what seemed like growing pains. Maybe, perhaps, they were prepared to embrace change.

The cool, lakeside breeze filtered through Creek's dense wool. It was nice, they thought, how beautiful the world had suddenly become. Nothing about the world had changed, of course. The sky, which was now filled with a spectrum of colors as the sun steadily crept below the distant horizon, was the same sky that had always been here. The breezey winds flowing around them were the same gusts that have traveled around the world hundreds of times before. Not a single drop of water within the lake Creek now peered over was new, but simply filtered through the natural cycles of the earth and sky. Everything is the same, but yet everything is different.
The world is beautiful now, but it had also been before. What had changed, rather, was Creek. Their eyes have widened with age, and their hope wised with time. The world has always been beautiful, and Creek was beautiful, too.
There is something about growing up that changes our perspectives on the world outside of ourselves. Wallflowers may remain wallflowers, but now they find themselves speaking with a little more confidence. The most confident of kids grow humbled, but they never seem to lose their spark. And the most ambitious of them all keep that spark inside of them, although they learn to manage their time more wisely.
Creek was at this point in life of self-revelation. They have become stronger in will, courage, and confidence. Their bleats are a little louder now, but they have also learned when it is smart to remain silent. Life seems daunting at the worst of times, but you cannot let that overshadow the brilliance of it all.
The sun breathed its last breath of daylight as it finally slipped below the surface of the lake. The stars overhead flickered cautiously, and Creek felt the weight of their newly-matured horns as they lifted their head to gaze the blanket of space above them. There is so much more to learn, to see, to experience, they thought. This is only the beginning.

A normal Espurr evolves into Meowstic at level 25. If most pokemon are eager to evolve, this is not the case for Crystal who had a crazy phobia to evolve and who carefully kept an Everstone to avoid what they called "this disaster". Crystal kept the stone snug in her long mane and took care to check regularly that the stone was still in place. This could therefore create moments of panic in the middle of a fight, when the stone tried to leave what had become its nest. Crystal was really stressed about losing her stone. Indeed, Crystal is non-binary but is of a species that evolved into a pokemon where the body changes due to gender are extremely obvious. A male Meowstic will be blue striped with white, while a female will be white striped with blue. Crystal knew they would become a white Meowstic, but they didn't want to look like the other female Meowstics, because that would be another reason for the pokemon to not like who they were. So they did everything not to evolve. Unfortunately, one day they had to fight near a river, and what had to happen happened. During the fight, the Crystal Stone fell from her hair directly into the river, and even before they or her trainer could retrieve it, her Everstone ended up swept away by the violent current. Of course, without his stone and since hey had reached the level a long time ago, Crystal was forced to evolve in the greatest panic. They knew it, they were ready to run far away never to come back, but when the bluish light went out, they were surprised to hear their trainer, their opponent and the trainer of the opposing pokemon being really very surprised. Crystal opened her eyes shyly and her trainer invited her to come and look at her reflection in the water. Little Meowstic really didn't want to and sighed, but they came forward anyway, his face very sad and ready to cry, but they was surprised himself. Indeed, Crystal was not white with blue stripes, and even less blue with white stripes because they had acquired a third coloring that had never been seen in Meowstic! A non-binary coloring which more or less equalized the two colors on her body, and which therefore prevented her from knowing her birth sex. This made Crystal cry with joy and they began to sing and dance with joy. They had refused for so many years to evolve when nature intended to give them the most beautiful of gifts. This is a true miracle of life.

One of the most defining moments in Crystal's Meowstic life is the days following her evolution. They remember the surprise in human communities like pokemon, but also the happiness they felt to finally be able to be themselves and get rid of their fear. They remembers his first night as Meowstic. That night, while her trainer slept peacefully in her tent and sleeping bag, Crystal couldn't fall asleep. They walked back to the river and sat near the water, dipping their hind legs in the water. They gently picked a flower and smelt it, before looking at their reflection in the water. They then began to smile before raising their eyes to the sky to stare at the stars. The evening was really pleasant for Crystal who had always lived in fear and anguish. Without even noticing it, they began to sing in chorus with the nocturnal pokemon of the forest. For the first time in her life, Crystal felt really good.
Eventually, they returned to camp and snuggled into the arms of his trainer who gently stroked his head. Crystal began to purr happily before falling asleep. During his night, they had wonderful dreams which became reality the next day. After all, a pokemon fight was immediately much easier when the fear of losing a stone was gone. Her trainer was just as happy to see them so happy, so much so that he replaced the photograph in Crystal's pendant, with a new photo where Crystal looks much happier. The joy of the pokemon was really very contagious, and from the day Crystal evolved, the latter did not stop smiling and making his trainer proud. Of course, sometimes Crystal feels sad, but when they is sad, they just has to open her pendant to look at the picture, in order to feel better. Crystal is truly grateful to her trainer for being so patient with them, and to the magic of evolution for giving them such a unique and mysterious form. We have rarely seen a Meowstic as happy as them.
