xx sagebrush is quite content with the way their clan is structured. though they aren't particularly fond of their role as a healer, she is glad to help others and their extensive knowledge from this position is what keeps her in business as a florist. sage actually really enjoys fulfilling their floral aspirations each day after their healer duties. it's almost a pick-me-up after less enjoyable tasks like treating the elders' fleas or tending to runny noses. not only does her craft earn her respect as an esteemed merchant, but the trade aspect of clan life keeps things interesting. between new customers and returning ones, she's able to learn each individual's tastes and spice up each purchase with some personal trinkets for no added cost: a way to give back to the community even after work hours. they find this simple yet thoughtful act very rewarding, especially with the way it can brighten anyone's day in mere moments. without this aspect of life, countless cats would never have gotten a moment of sunshine on a rainy day. however, there are a few downsides—unavoidable in any civilization regardless of how perfect life may seem on the surface. sage is not a fan of the beauty standards and aesthetic archetypes that are cemented by this kind of lifestyle. while her business is more on the relaxed side of these ideals, they still find their way into her life. for quite a while, being teased about their scars was one of her biggest sore spots. each comment about her appearance still stings and it saddens them that their clanmates don't think twice about saying such hurtful things. this is why she goes out of her way to shower them with sweetness and win them over with her personality instead, though any of their friends—anyone that knows her, really—would agree that it's totally unnecessary to even try to appease them. it's just in their nature to be kind and they love to express it through both healing and flora <3

He dislikes the hierarchy, as there are too many ranks, and too many cats he needs to nod at or tell what to do. he wishes things were simpler, maybe he'd have an easier time getting along with his classmates if he wasn't worried about who he was or wasn't supposed to talk to.

in many ways, he loathes the simple structures of the more mystical creatures in the elmclan area, the witches with their simple coven leader and maybe a coven guard or two but other than that? free reign. or even the werewolves with their wolf pack structure would be easier than worrying about whether he should be respectfully lowering his head to a grove guardian or ordering them back to their post. regardless, he uses his title as head explorer to spend as much time away from elmclan (and their social rules) as possible.
