annoying. irritating. all i want is some peace!

estelle was a rather laidback keldine, despite
her electric hued pelt. a lazy soul who napped a lot,
nothing seemed to bother her much. that was until she
felt something biting her paws one day!

a living tail was perhaps the best and worst thing to
happen to estelle. an introverted, peaceful keldine was
suddenly a spectacle amongst her town. what did the tail
eat? can it talk? how did it happen? sometimes estelle
wishes her tail never became sentient, for her life would
be quiet. but maybe estelle was not suited to the peace,
for the tail made estelle truly bloom, and it is said that her
eyes are like the moon unlike before. the tail forces her to
be social and embrace her unique identity.

the tail eats fish and only that. and estelle is repulsed by
the smell or thought of fish. what a shame, in her eyes the tail
does not care. the tail is loud, the tail makes a scene, it takes
a while for estelle to accept she is stuck with the tail, for she
believes it is a nightmare she’s just waiting to awaken from

asteroid is a peculiar being, with a silly diet and the ability to draw
attention with ease. while this is one of its favourite ways to spend time.
the being has accumulated eyes over time, which gives it the strange
appearance that makes it unique. while estelle was originally creeped
out by the sheer number of eyes, and the fact the tail talks, asteroid
had not done it for the reaction, but out of pure necessity.

when it turns dark, scary creatures roam the town. maybe asteroid
was the result of a bite or a whimsical imagination, the origins were
unknown even by itself. however, despite the resemblance to the
beings that make estelle shiver, asteroid acts as a barrier. the knight
of the night, which ensures an eye or three are constantly watching out
for estelle. sleeping easy was all it wanted for her, and it is that feeling
in which the tail was formed, which neither of them had yet to discover

the tail gets on estelle’ so nerves without fail, the keld’s angry face being
a point of serotonin for the tail. ‘if you control what i see and where i go,
than shall i make it for for me too?’ while this was his motto at the start of
the pair warming up to each other, it soon became apparent the true extent
the teasing was doing. with that in mind, asteroid usually uses its eyes and
mouth to cause stress, but rather it calms estelle down. this is achieved by
closing its eyes and falling asleep. a quiet tail avoids a scolding keldine!

trust and harmony can heal even the most broken roads

while the occasional annoyance is still placed on estelle, the pair learned
that getting along and listening to each other was a way better way of living.
estelle catches the food, even the fish she dreads so much, and asteroid keeps
it’s eyes on the entire surroundings. working together allows them to live happily,
trusting each other lead to a comfortable feeling that sometimes estelle believes
that not even another keld could achieve.

while estelle never asked for a sentient tail, it might have just been the best
surprise she could have got. asteroid weaselled its way into her life, giving her
the push to be confident and allow her to truly understand.

while estelles relationship with her tail isn’t perfect, it represents the growth
and change that something so unexpected can have.

They had ensured their pronunciation was correct, that no word was omitted! They had prepared the perfect food for their summon, they had even fasted themselves for an entire week!

...Yet this was what happened?

"Oh now my dear, do not be so distraught. The summoning worked, you know. It is not your fault that they tend to omit the fine print of put it in the additional notes and appendixes..." Damascus took in deep breaths, trying to steady herself. Her heart was racing... how would she ever explain this to anyone?

"...Why explain yourself at all? I am a rather powerful summon after all, bonded to you through literal blood. You now carry that same power... you have none to answer to. Carry yourself with pride, what was your original purpose for calling me?"

"...To be the most powerful summoner. To... to protect this world."

"And so you are, and so we can. I do not really see the issue here."

"I...I can hear your thoughts! See through your... eyes! So many of them! How... how can I keep sane?!?"

I seriously enjoyed the effort put in and the growth of the relationship -- it was an interesting read, and I love how Asteroid pushed her to change. They're both neat characters!
