Prompt:Crumble’s Theme SongTo many, it was a day like no other, but for Crumble, this day couldn't be any more special. Although she tried to hide it, she was extremely excited for her birthday. The last few years hadn't been anything much, but this year was going to be different. Her friend,
Day had sent her a party hat along with a note:

Crumble did a little dance of excitement, and did her best to be patient. An evening with her friends was all she could ask for, even if Crumble had to find a way to occupy herself throughout the other parts of the day. After a few minutes of pacing, she decided it was best to go on a forest walk. There had been some trails that weren’t often traveled so Crumble thought she’d make the most of the day she had by herself. The way to the trails themselves were long, but for Crumble it was only more time to enjoy the sunny weather that managed to wedge itself into a rather cold spring.

The walk through the trail was something truly special. She heard joyous bird calls that Crumble liked to imagine were celebrations of the warm weather and the hope of summer. There were a few does that strolled through the lightly canopied forest that only stopped to observe Crumble trotting on the overgrown path. After a while, Crumble encountered a stream where she paused to take a drink and lingered, observing her surroundings. In between two rather large trees, she spotted wild lavender growing. Although it hadn’t bloomed yet, Crumble could vaguely smell it. As she neared the clearing, the aroma became stronger and the greenery seemed to grow right in front of her.
Crumble laid down in a small grassy area, and closed her eyes to take in the sounds and smells around her. It seemed only a few moments passed before she heard hoof steps approaching and calls of concern in the distance. When she opened her eyes, there was almost no light to be seen. Almost immediately Day was in front of her, the concern on her face washing away to reveal relief.
“Oh thank goodness we found you! When you didn’t show up, I was worried something had happened to you! Cocoa had noticed you walking out here earlier and was kind enough to help out.” From behind her,
Cocoa peeked around the various foliage surrounding her with a branch hanging out of her mouth.
“Sorry I worried you! I lost track of time. It’s not too late to still have that movie night, is it?” Crumble hoped the night wasn’t ruined and felt a pang of guilt. She stood up, preparing for anything.
Cocoa was approaching, clearly ready to get a move on “Of course, Crumble. Why would we *not* want to spend time with the birthday girl?”
Day didn’t have anything to add, but rather turned around and trotted with pep down the trail. Still uncertain, Crumble followed behind Cocoa. By the time they reached the still green flower field, the moon had found its place in the sky. Crumble didn’t want to anticipate anything extravagant, as she felt she hadn’t deserved to feel anything but grateful, but she found was beyond her wildest dreams.

A canopy was set up, draped in string lights and thin fabric with one opening covered by a white sheet. Under the canopy, blankets, pillows, snacks and a projector were set up surrounded by tea lights in mason jars.
“I know it isn’t much, but I thought a low-key evening would be the best way of celebrating with you.” Day seemed unsure of her planning, but Crumble knew it couldn’t be better.
“Oh Day, you know you could never disappoint me! You’re my best friend!” Immediately, Crumble could see Day become more confident. They both sat down on the blankets, and before leaving, Cocoa turned on the movie. Crumble couldn’t tell if Cocoa actually left, or lingered behind the projector, hooked in by the growing music. All Crumble knew was that Day had gone out of her way to make this the best day it could be, even if it was just a few hours.
“Thank you, Day. I don’t know what I would do without you.” Crumble looked at Day, gratitude emanating from her entire being.
“Happy birthday, Crumble.”
